Anyone else watching ?

The judges wife knew Mark ferman.

I believe OJ did it but I don't think the prosecution proved it beyond reasonable doubt.

DNA should never be the only evidence against a defendant.

Look at the Shirley McKee fingerprint case.

I don't know if I'm conflating the over dramatical version with real life - if Ito's comments in court re women in male dominated workplaces were accurate, Marcia Clark's comments (in one of the interviews posted up thread) about Ito's harsh treatment of/comments toward her are even more astonishing if he did have that level of awareness via his wife & yet still acted in that manor towards Clark.

That last question asked by Cochrane was just such a blow. I think that's what I remembered about furhman, cos a certainly never heard the content of the tapes.

I know it's been said before but I really thought this would be a pile of rubbish & I'm amazed just how hooked I am on this. It's been brilliantly done, even if it is subject to a bit of dramatic license. How many more are left? I'm thinking 1 or 2 given where we are with the point of the case. Kato still to be seen but other than that I can't remember anything else that significant.

annandale · 11/04/2016 22:34

That was a truly superb episode. Still loving Nathan Lane so much.

One more episode to go, which I can hardly believe. The verdict, the aftermath, the civil case, the books, the robbery, the jailing?? Presumably only the first two will fit in...

lorelei9here · 11/04/2016 22:49

Really brilliant episode, structure, timing, pace all spot on.

Brave actor playing Furman. I feel burning with rage about that guy! I will look up the fact check thing but o honest thought this episode crossed over into being important viewing, esp as there's a Death Row case in the papers today where the racism has shocked me.

lorelei9here · 11/04/2016 22:52

Btw did anyone notice Ito having hourglasses before? Mine broke this weekend so I dint know if they were there all along and I only just noticed because of being sad about mine.

WestleyAndButtockUp · 11/04/2016 22:57

This was the single episode to recommend anyone to watch on iPlayer - they'd grasp instantly the key to the OJ trial, and why this series is so good.

Hopefully that would lead them back to the other excellent episodes on a main theme like race or working women; much better than the first two or so.

lorelei9here · 11/04/2016 23:14

Westley, I nearly gave up after the second one.

I do wonder if a prosecutor would "beg" a judge but I have a feeling I will find it one of the true bits! Going to save this reading for my next long boring bus journey on weds.

Notgivingin789 · 11/04/2016 23:40

Today's episode was good as always, all the actors are superb.

I'm devastated for the victims families, the trial has all of a sudden become about; Furman, race, inequality. This isn't about Nicole at all. So sad. After seeing today's episode I already knew that the prosecution will end up losing

Destinysdaughter · 12/04/2016 08:07

Wow what a brilliant episode!

Those Furman tapes were truly shocking. And sadly still relevant today. Sad

Davros · 12/04/2016 09:29

Judge Ito only seems to have expressed any understanding of how hard it was (is) for working women in male dominated environments when it applied to his own wife. A bit late maybe?

WestleyAndButtockUp · 12/04/2016 11:00

Wikipedia says that the violent acts described by Fuhrman were not able to be linked to any actual violence/deaths in police custody. Those type of things clearly happen, and Furhman obviously wanted them to, and was familiar with those type of things, but it would seem there was also an element of fiction and bragging to those tapes as well. While they legitimately discredited and perjured him, seems like they were not all factual.

StrawberryLeaf · 12/04/2016 22:52

Fantastic episode, best yet I think. I'm going to be sad when this is over!

I agree that the victims have been lost in this case sadly.

APlaceOnTheCouch · 14/04/2016 21:07

Westley yy the Vanity Fair article says the Fuhrman allegations were investigated and they could only identify the incidents of sexism. I think iirc he was given a suspended sentence. There may have been an element of him fabricating to impress the scriptwriter but I did find myself questioning the internal investigation into his claims Blush

It was all such a disaster for Ron and Nicole's families. I feel so sorry for them.

homebythesea · 15/04/2016 07:46

I've just ordered Mark Furhman's book - fascinated to see his side of the story. I had no idea that the tapes were being discussed for a long time in the media etc before he came back to plead the fifth. DH and I watched that testimony live and I remember jaws being dropped on the floor

lorelei9here · 15/04/2016 11:10

I wouldn't want to give a man like Furhman my money.

Destinysdaughter · 18/04/2016 18:48

Last episode tonight!

I tried to buy the Marcia Clarke book in Waterstones but they said it was out of print! Sad

Hope they bring it out again as I'd love to read it.

gingerbreadmanm · 18/04/2016 19:09

I downloaded the sample and couldnt put it down. Its on my order list for payday Grin

Chippednailvarnish · 18/04/2016 21:03

Ito is looking so weak....

Destinysdaughter · 18/04/2016 21:12

Listening to the Prosecution's speech it is truly beyond me why he wasn't found guilty.

Destinysdaughter · 18/04/2016 21:25

One thing that has been brilliant about this is that although it's an incredibly serious subject, the way it's been done has been full of black humour making it immensely watchable.

Still think the verdict sucked tho.

Figgygal · 18/04/2016 21:25

HOW was he found not guilty!! And 4 hours deliberating? That jury is a disgrace

Chippednailvarnish · 18/04/2016 21:29

I think Marcia Clark comes out looking much better than the men...

Figgygal · 18/04/2016 21:46

Jonny Cochran used the OJ case for his own personal agenda he distracted them from the facts of the case they couldn't see past the colour of their own skin. So angry!!!

lorelei9here · 18/04/2016 22:03

Great work on the show
The fact that Furhman makes money from being a violent racist liar pissees me off
Bet OJ gets parole next year, after converting to a religion in jail probably. Ugh.

lorelei9here · 18/04/2016 22:05

Gwhy did the jury question the amount of blood in the bronco? He didn't kill them In there? Why should there be more blood traces in there?
