Thanks for the link Rosie, looking forward to watching that.

On the point about the exchange between Cochran and Darden, I saw it described somewhere that Cochran had the right message (systemic racism), but that he delivered it through the wrong messenger. That is a good summation I think.

Thanks rosie I've just watched it
Can't believe how faithful the programme was to what actually happened ! The only one who didn't look like himself was OJ!

JessTitchener · 20/04/2016 16:15

The podcast True Crime Garage are currently covering the case. They played the full audio of Robert Kardashian reading the 'suicide note'.
Oj actually describes himself as a 'battered husband' in it.

Sterling K Brown and Sarah Paulson were remarkable in my opinion.

Marcia Clark was on Ellen recently and what I found interesting was the fact that they were quite opening discussing Oj's guilt regardless of the fact he was cleared.
I guess nobody is worried about being sued by him.

I found the scenes of the verdict quite emotional. Despite knowing the outcome I think it reminded me of just how totally unfair it was and the pain of the Brown and Goldman families.

It's been an amazing series and completely gripping. Agree with everyone that the cast were fantastic, except Cuba Gooding. Not sure if it's his acting or the way it was written. YY to Oprah's face - me and DD both remarked on that straight away.

My DD has loved it as well. She doesn't have the memories we do of it happening at the time, but it has led to many interesting conversations about the law, race, racism etc. She was also gobsmacked at the fact that Fuhrman is now working for Fox News!

I can't imagine how (in particular) Ron Goldman's family felt, their son just a speck of insignificance in the whole "story". Absolutely awful. I also like the fact they finished with the faces of the victims.

I hope they all get nominated for awards.

I've been thinking about john travoltas portrayal of bob Shapiro in the first couple of episodes he was overbearing and obnoxious but as his isolation from the rest of the team grew he seemed to become the voice of reason in some ways. I felt quite sorry for him even if he was self serving.

Destinysdaughter · 20/04/2016 18:22

I totally agree it was the wrong verdict and was a case of DV, however, the Defence team totally exploited the Rodney King case that had happened not so long ago...

Finally got to watch the last episode

Brilliant series I don't doubt he is 100% guilty but the defense team failed terribly

Brilliant acting especially
Sarah Paulson (still think Cuba was totally miscast) I shall watch that link Rosie

Who else could have played OJ?

Who else would want to?

TensionWheelsCoolHeels · 22/04/2016 00:17

If LL Cool J still had hair I could see him in that role. He's good looking & has charisma and maybe a good wig could have been convincing? I think he may have fit the bill more visually but maybe still not as close as the rest of the cast were (JT aside).

In saying that, when I watched the OJ Simpson on cameras program linked up thread, the scene of OJ trying on the gloves, the overacting he did then I think Cuba captured that really well.

gingerbreadmanm · 22/04/2016 07:24

I felt the same about shapiro i must say. He seemed one of the most level headed towards the end and knew oj's guilt where as i think cochran never even considered whether he was guilty or not as his motive was to highlight racism.

I often thought when watching drake could have made a good oj.

annandale · 22/04/2016 07:29

I don't think Barry sheck doing the innocence project is incongruous - defence lawyer through and through.

CeciliaMiddleton · 22/04/2016 10:19

God I love this programme!

EnthusiasmDisturbed · 22/04/2016 10:37

I can't think of an actor that really looks like him. I think Jamie Foxx is charismatic on screen and he is handsome probably not tall enough

Cuba was just all wrong not tall enough, doesn't particularly have an athletic build and not charismatic enough. OJ was always very charming to those in court this they didn't really show this

Still the series was great

Tension that is a good suggestion for casting of OJ. I also think Blair Underwood and Taye Diggs have the looks and charisma for it.

Drake is about 15 years too young and half white! Also he's not classically good looking IMO. I don't think there's any resemblance at all. Funny how opinions on these things differ.
