With the mixture of the 2 victims' blood with OJ's I don't see how it could be anyone but him.

gingerbreadmanm · 05/04/2016 20:53

Oh its not so much i think he is innocent more that i can see how he got away with it.

Notgivingin789 · 05/04/2016 22:05

It's confusing isn't it?! I was so sure that OJ Simpson did commit the murders, but as the episodes continued... I'm not so sure now! Though I can see why OJ got away with it!

The jurors all wearing black were an act of rebellion, something to do with the deputy's....

homebythesea · 05/04/2016 22:33

notgiving what is it you are thinking persuasive that he did not commit the crime (as opposed to the defence doing a great job in rubbishing the prosecution case which as we know us not the same thing at all!)

lorelei9here · 05/04/2016 22:36

I'm not finding it confusing at all, I remain baffled he got away with it.

I'm cinfused by the comments about the crime scene being mishandled though. How can that be and if so then sure,y the trial would have ended earlier? And they wouldn't have battled to make the police detective look racist, I thought they only tried that because they were clutching at straws?

stillenacht1 · 05/04/2016 22:38

Loving this so much- addictive tv and oh my John Travolta eek!

lorelei9here · 05/04/2016 23:18

I find a lot if the characters quite irritating tbh
Cochrane, Kardashian and OJ being the worst. I'm really interested to know if OJ was really like that. Otherwise I have no idea if Cuba is doing a good job or not. He's just so...shrill.

homebythesea · 05/04/2016 23:23

Crime scene mishandling:
Evidence taken home by police officer in the boot of his car
Forensic technicians not using gloves when at the scene
Blood samples tainted with preservative
Some blood apparently went missing

That's just off the top of my head

It was enough to be spun by the defence to put a scintilla of doubt against the DNA evidence (which was in its infancy then remember). They spent days and weeks going over very boring scientific details to bash away at the prosecution evidence and to help the jury convenient,y forget that the blood at OJ's house belonged to only 3 people. This was never attached by the defence. They went for the police procedure

lorelei9here · 05/04/2016 23:38

Home, thanks
In spite of all the doubt, the fact of there only being three people's DNA, that was reliable was it?

homebythesea · 06/04/2016 07:57

Well, reliable in that the evidence was that there was a one in very many million chance that the blood was NOT from the relevant people which is the way that DNA evidence was presented in the mid 90's (they didn't have the graphical matching you see today)

SagaNorensLeatherTrousers · 06/04/2016 12:55

I think the most obvious thing about it all is how on earth would they have managed to get OJ's blood? OJ's blood couldn't have magically appeared there, right? I'm missing the defense's explanation as to how it could have possibly gotten there without him being at the scene of the crime.

Has anyone watched any interviews with Marcia Clark lately, since this series has come out? I really like her! She was really worried about the series when she heard they were planning it...but has since said she really likes how it was done and v complimentary of Sarah Paulson's portrayal of her. She did say it was like a 15 month-long nightmare for her, at the time. Sad

Alwaysinmyheart · 06/04/2016 13:11

Sad that Marcia never prosecuted again after this case. Can't say I blame her!

homebythesea · 06/04/2016 13:37

The defence said that the blood was planted, explains the missing blood taken from OJ

But it just doesn't work- Marcia's explanation in the bar scene a couple of episodes ago shows how convoluted the conspiracy needs to be if the blood was planted by the police

homebythesea · 06/04/2016 13:41

Clicke too soon......

The police would have had to turn up at the murder scene, immediately conclude it must have been OJ, find OJ and take his blood, then return to the scene, co-mingle some of his blood with the victims and whilst there collect some of their blood, go back to OJ's house, somehow enter his car and sprinkle the 3 bloods in there, place a few drops in his driveway and enter the house and smear some on his socks in the bedroom. All the while with no-one seeing any of this and within a very tight impossible timeline.

Armi · 06/04/2016 18:31

I can recommend Marcia Clark's book. I really couldn't put it down. I'm a bit ashamed that this series has lured me away from reading literary fiction to gulping down 'true crime' texts.

notquitehuman · 06/04/2016 20:35

I've started to enjoy true crime stuff too. It really is quite fascinating.

I suppose the defence had an easier job in a way. They didn't have to prove OJ was innocent, just show 'reasonable doubt', and with things like the Rodney King beating fresh in everyone's mind it was easy to make it look like the police were framing a rich black man.

I do think he did it, but it's interesting to think about the alternatives.

Cel982 · 06/04/2016 21:59

I have to say, having thought the first few episodes of this were ham-tastic, I think it's got better and better. Can see it sweeping the boards at the next Emmys.

annandale · 06/04/2016 22:01

Fantastic to wipe the memory of Harriet in Studio 60 from my mind with this amazing performance from Sarah Paulson.

AmIbeingaBitch · 06/04/2016 22:03

Absolutely an award winning show.

stillenacht1 · 07/04/2016 08:32

I love it- literally can't wait for every episode Smile

Davros · 07/04/2016 20:11

JT is making me think of his role in Hairspray!
Agreed, OJ dun it

StrawberryLeaf · 07/04/2016 20:33

I love it too, it's not often nowadays I watch a series weekly (now tending to watch box sets) and I'm excited every Monday to watch it. I'm going to be disappointed when it ends.

Marcia's description in the bar was a perfect way to describe how it's impossible for the bloods to have been planted by the LAPD.

APlaceOnTheCouch · 09/04/2016 15:50

I've just caught up with Monday's episode the Easter holidays has interrupted my viewing schedule It made me wonder if the length of the case also impacted on the outcome. The Fuhrman revelation that the episode ended on wouldn't have come to light if the case had been a short-running one, ditto the revelations about some of the jurors.

I really feel for Marcia - I would have trashed my office too after the DNA guy gave evidence.

It seems foolish to state the obvious but OJ is coming across as a nasty, arrogant, violent bully. I wish Rob Kardashian had bailed. YY it would have put pressure on his family but fgs he thought OJ murdered two people.

theliverpoolone · 11/04/2016 21:22

Have just missed a bit, seeing to dd - what has the judge's wife got to do with it and why has he stood down??

gingerbreadmanm · 11/04/2016 22:03

The judges wife was high up in lapd and haf disciplined fuhrman for something. He hated her and laid into her on the tapes.

I think ito was allowed to stay in court altho that wasnt shown just that the case carried on with his as the judge.
