I see it's on Fox tonight: S6 E7
Is that us back from the mid season break, or is it a repeat of what we were watching before xmas?
(oh the waiting......)

It's odd because quite a number of her kills were uncalled for, or at least not immediately necessary.

And now she won't kill anyone?

Middle ground may I introduce you to Carol P?

Blondeshavemorefun · 22/03/2016 22:47

I kinda thought someone may die and I chose DENISE. I was right - she's expendable iyswim

An episode without Rick? Hasnt that happened maybe once before

Was a good episode tho did get puzzled by Groundhog Day - twice at beginning and then at end

Can someone explain

Carol will return

EricNorthmanSucks · 22/03/2016 23:01

I think the repetition at the beginning and the end was to impress upon is that Alexandria has routine, a way of life.

An innocence almost.

Against that back drop Eugene and Denise lost their innocence. Daryl and Rosita had none to loose.

That's why we also had lots of images of childhood and Denise discussing her own upbringing.

But this is only my take on things Grin. Feel free to call bollocks!

DontDeadOpenInside · 22/03/2016 23:08

Totally agree with you there eric

It confused the hell out of me too at first though. We watched it on a 30 min delay and I kept saying to dh "I haven't rewound it, why is this happening"

Blondeshavemorefun · 22/03/2016 23:36

bollocks

Not that I think it is. Just I like the word bollocks Grin

So a kinda Groundhog Day as in each day it's roughly the same

saoirse31 · 22/03/2016 23:46

U know I think the rosary beads r relevant.... Carol was catholic, and the guilt of killing is getting to her. Having been raised catholic, school etc I can believe that no matter how much u don't believe, when everything goes bad.... It comes back and grabs you....

Grt to see Rosita more in this episode

ElderlyKoreanLady · 22/03/2016 23:51

You know, I'm not a Rosita fan. I just haven't taken to her on screen. I think I find her quite inhuman. The person she was supposedly closest to, she actually barely showed any warmth to, barely opened up to.

EricNorthmanSucks · 23/03/2016 06:29

I wonder if part of the audience not connecting with characters or not buying into the actions/motivations of characters they previously connected with is due to the cast expansion?

There are now so many characters that we spend precious little air time with each.

So when the writers present us with a new story line/twist/character arc it jars because it doesn't feel like a natural progression of what we've been seeing.

Obviously I'm overthinking this but as a writer I'm kinda paid to IYSWIM ( ie not a weirdo Wink).

I think Carol will be back.

I liked this episode very much, and really enjoyed all the slightly heavy-handed emphasis on growing up, leaving innocence behind, and personal development. Poor Denise though, and what a muppet for risking her own life -now they have no doctor. I would say that a doctor would be up there in the top five assets in Alexandria, and it was stupid for her to go outside the walls.

I totally buy the Carol Turnaround. I can imagine that out there, on the road, living in a state of constant fear and high-alert, it would be easy to make life and death decisions, act quickly, and be ruthless.

But once back behind safe walls, once she had a chance to relax, drop her guard and reflect on the horrors that she had seen and participated in, I can see that it would be incredibly difficult to live with. And once those stress levels have reduced, how could she ever be that person again?

I love the fact that she is so nuanced, rather than a flat, 2D character like some of them

No apology needed, I'm just trying to work out who Reno is Grin

Piemernator · 24/03/2016 09:48

Shit! Reno must be an autocorrect. I was asking who was the guy who shot the Dr through the eye Blush
