Anyone see Shetland tonight? New drama series on BBC1?

I liked it! Nice to see the scenery, plus Scottish accents on a BEeb programme.

Roadkill artist was v good tonight also. Lots of strong performances actually, although I am not at all fussed about Perez's love interest, she's rather wooden.

bigbadbarry · 19/02/2016 22:15

Oh.
Love Mr Digestive. Wasn't Billy good? I thought he might be narked when she said no hug.
Agree re Asher and Sleazy Solicitor - she just looks so uncomfortable.

GraceKellysLeftArm · 19/02/2016 22:17

All that "sorry sorry sorry" she did at the airport - sorry for what exactly m'dear? Hmm

I've had dinner at the lighthouse hotel - decades before it was a hotel. My m&d got v pissed and the road is a cliff road back down to the "main-ish" road - my dad reversed. Me and my sister got out and walked until he'd turned the car round. In fact the road is treacherous enough when sober and I ditched the car on it a couple of years ago and made my husband reverse it back down .

SealSong · 19/02/2016 22:38

I really want to go to the Lighthouse hotel now, but thanks for the warning about the road!

Did anyone watch the episode of 'Grand tours of the scottish islands' with Paul Murton (not the comedian) that was on on BBC2 just before Shetland came on? That episode of 'Grand tours' was about the Shetland Islands, it was interesting.

OldCrowMedicineShow · 19/02/2016 22:39

Dh and I were wrecks after this week's brilliant episode. Oh, Tosh Sad
She felt safe enough and utterly exhausted to fall asleep in Mr Digestive biscuit's chair. Billy just crumpled when she left the room.

So who on earth is the main fiscal protecting? I cannot figure it out plus we have to wait two bloody weeks.

Grace Shock that looked like a very long way down. I'm useless with heights and would have shuffled to the main road on my bum.

thenightsky · 19/02/2016 22:41

So, two weeks to wait for the next episode FFS!

bigbadbarry · 19/02/2016 22:44

old crow, wasn't the sexy sleazy solicitor waiting for Anna chancellor at the end?

Ginmakesitallok · 19/02/2016 22:46

Fiscal is protecting smarmy lawyer!

Missanneshirley · 19/02/2016 22:48

Yes I think she must surely be protecting the solicitor ? But then why is he dropping hints to Jimmy and pretending to be turning against mccoll?
Excellent episode - so sad.

DSClarke · 19/02/2016 22:59

That was brilliant. And wholly responsible for our summer holiday in the pissing rain in Scotland this year.

I had a little cry at the end. Most unexpected. I thought Tosh was wonderful and I do love a red head.

OldCrowMedicineShow · 19/02/2016 23:02

Yes, who is the lawyer protecting? And who is this person who is bigger than McColl? And why did the DNA not match anyone in the UK but someone in Bulgaria?

GraceKellysLeftArm · 19/02/2016 23:11

Dsclark - it may not rain all the time Wink - this morning when I left the house in sunglasses the sea was like a mirror and ds2 and I discussed how the seals can see with the sun bouncing off the water. It's now lashing it down with high winds (the sort which scare the English). Plus side? Your kids will get rainbowed-out!

Catzpyjamas · 19/02/2016 23:21

Grace, can I just ask where that fabulous lighthouse is?

Gruach · 19/02/2016 23:41

That was excellent.

There's a place for wooden acting. Angel in Buffy; can't have been easy carrying a soul around when you'd existed without one for hundreds of years - no wonder he never looked quite at ease in his skin. And being a protected witness handler; maybe not the most relaxed of roles. Think the poor woman has a right to be rather wooden. Though I admit it's possible there's something she's omitted to reveal.

Oh - my roadkill man is just too beautiful.

Two weeks?Angry

Gruach · 19/02/2016 23:52

And Douglas Henshal himself has just tweeted an apology about the scheduling delay.

timelytess · 20/02/2016 00:04

The delay's no problem, I'm away from home to a gig next Friday night. You mean they didn't do it specially for me? Oh.
Roadkill man, I luffs him. I'm glad I'm not the only one. Tosh felt safe with him.

SealSong · 20/02/2016 00:10

I feel quite sorry for Roadkill man. He's very sweet - in a slightly freakily naive way - and deserves the love of a good woman (who doesn't mind decomposing deer carcases about the place). That won't be Tosh though I think.

SealSong · 20/02/2016 00:13

Ooh Dougie Henshall is on twitter?

firesidechat · 20/02/2016 06:47

I thought the woman who was raped said that the fiscal's son was involved (was the rapist) or did I get that wrong?

What a beautiful episode. I know that sounds odd considering the subject matter, but it was so sensitively handled and moving. Loved the scenes with road kill man too.

diddl · 20/02/2016 09:48

I thought that also, fireside

People were sent to convince her not to testify.

Police or McCall's men?

DinoSnores · 20/02/2016 10:42

What a beautifully acted episode that way. I don't know a better word for it, even when the subject matter was horrific. The acting of Alison O'Donnell was so understated and powerful. The scene between her and Billy was the one that set me off.

OldCrowMedicineShow · 20/02/2016 10:44

I'm wondering if McCall is the Fiscal's son's father.

Is the Bulgarian connection a red herring? Also, the body of the hitman who drowned looked nothing like the man who shot Michael Mcguire.

Two flippin' weeks. Angry That's an eternity.
