Don't watch this often and tonight's was cringey in the extreme.
Anyone else watch it?
Peter threw others out at end as had a mega strop at coming last.
Ooh err.....

Oh my good god! What was wrong with that man? He threw a proper paddy and the other guests just cringed. He must be mortified!

ChiefClerkDrumknott · 04/01/2016 23:30

I didn't see it but the bit where he kicks them out is now on Buzzfeed: Cringe
I am lol'ing at Jane (?) pissing herself laughing at him berating her then swigging straight from the bottle in the street Grin

HellesBelles01 · 05/01/2016 00:50

I saw this thread earlier and I have now stayed up waaaay too late watching on catch up.

I didn't think it would be that bad but fuck me, that Peter guy was a complete and utter arse. He was quite free with the insults but couldn't take the other woman's (perfectly accurate) criticism. Did he think that channel four wouldn't show it? He could be a really nice bloke but he'll now forever be the dickhead from CDWM. And he had the nerve to say that Jane had no grace and decorum!

Tiggeryoubastard · 05/01/2016 00:54

He was basically a spoilt child. His whole body was a ripple of raging disbelief when he came last. It was hilarious. And I know his hairdo was meant to be artistically tousled, but all it said was 'fat boy just got out of bed', even though, by his own bizarre boast, he had better clothes than most people. Someone needs to tell him you can't polish a turd, even if you can roll it in ill fitting, unsuitable glitter.

HellesBelles01 · 05/01/2016 01:16

I didn't understand the clothes thing either. Doesn't he have a mirror? What a weird thing to say Confused.
I can see why Jane could be possibly be a bit irritating (she was quite forthright) but when he went for the other two I was really cross. They were both very sweet, polite and pleasant. Still, they had the last laugh. I wonder what Peter's friends and family must think? If I ever behaved like that on TV my mum would go nuts (Even though I'm in my 30s).

Tiggeryoubastard · 05/01/2016 01:34

I don't think he was confident, he was brash. The clothes thing is obviously his insecurity. He felt threatened by Jane and didn't have the emotional maturity or intellect (or even self awareness) to not lash out. Though to be fair she wasn't too pleasant deep down, she knew what buttons to press with him. He has more issues than The Metro, the poor, inadequate prat.

Tiggeryoubastard · 05/01/2016 01:36

And turning on the blonde girl was like kicking a puppy. That was actually shocking. Makes me wonder how he treats his wife, if he has one.

DecaffCoffeeAndRollupsPlease · 05/01/2016 01:41

Now I want to watch this episode.

HellesBelles01 · 05/01/2016 01:43

I thought the same thing. Hopefully he's seen the programme and now realises what a complete twat he was and has resolved to do better! I've had my moments but if I was going on tv I'd be on my best behaviour. I did wonder if it was just the editing but I'm not convinced!

HellesBelles01 · 05/01/2016 01:43

Ooh decaff you have to see it to believe it!

Tiggeryoubastard · 05/01/2016 01:47

Decaff you will love it. We've kept it in the library to watch the final 10 minutes again!
Hellesbelles I doubt he'll change, he's got this far without doing so.

HellesBelles01 · 05/01/2016 02:09

I was trying to be generous but he's probably at home in his really nice clothes (on his own) complaining that he was stitched up...

Tiggeryoubastard · 05/01/2016 02:19

Spot on, a seething mass of lard rage.

MiscellaneousAssortment · 05/01/2016 02:20

Me too!

ToastedOrFresh · 05/01/2016 02:22

I've seen his, 'speech' captioned on Fb. Thousand of likes, shares and comments.

I'd love to see the full episode now. Is this where he makes the remark, 'like a dump truck with no wheels reversing' or something like that ?

I was glad that she was getting her comeuppance for being so rude as he was so furious. Maybe I'd understand it better if I saw the whole episode ?

HellesBelles01 · 05/01/2016 02:29

You need to watch the whole thing really. He was prickly and spoiling for a fight from the off. He was also rude to Jane (the dark haired woman with glasses) earlier in the week - had a dig at her size/appearance - to her face and when she wasn't there. So although calling him pompous wasn't nice, she wasn't unprovoked either.

AppleSetsSail · 05/01/2016 06:52

We watched it, what a debacle.

I couldn't believe he kicked them out of his house.

'I'm a better cook than you. I cooked this dinner for you, not these other two.'

AppleSetsSail · 05/01/2016 06:52

The Victoria Beckham comparison was so unbearably rude.

honeysucklejasmine · 05/01/2016 06:58

He was sooooo rude! Throughout the whole show he commented continually on her size, as if he were a thin man. I couldn't believe the hypocrisy. I hope he feels awful when he saw the score Jane gave him. He would have done fine had he not insulted the other two for absolutely no reason.

Man child!

NeuNewNouveau · 05/01/2016 09:34

Thanks to this thread I ended up watching this at 3am when I couldn't sleep - wow 😵😂!

Whilst Jane was clearly very blunt, Peter's behaviour was just awful. It is very rare to see a grown adult behave like that.

Of course what we saw was an evening condensed into ten minutes, so will be very heavily edited. That said though, if he hadn't have behaved like that they wouldn't have been able to show it.

For the record I didn't like his clothes, his collar reached half way up his cheek on night 2(or 3), it looked ridiculous!

Definitely a classic for anyone who hasn't seen it! I saved it as teen DS will love it!

AppleSetsSail · 05/01/2016 09:39

My estimation of the situation is as follows:

-Jane threw the first punch by saying he'd eaten too many pies. Very foolish.

-He said she reminded him of VB, which was obviously a slam on her weight and deeply unchivalrous.

-She then opened the discussion of Peter's personality traits at his house, which led to nuclear fallout.

She's not entirely blameless in all this, but his reaction was so disproportionate that I think his life is literally ruined.

AppleSetsSail · 05/01/2016 09:41

I also have no idea why he felt that he was the 'classy' one of the bunch (did anyone else get this impression?).

FairyDustDreamer · 05/01/2016 11:01

I agree that Jane threw the first, quite uncalled for, punch. She perhaps set the tense tone and her bluntness not always comfortable. Peter seemed insecure, became defensive and then attacker.
I do believe he felt he had been landed with 'plebs' for company who were not capable of appreciating fine dining. He looked astounded at cheerful blondes summary of cheese and her preferences. He did I think feel he was better than fellow contestants.
Excrutiating towards end of his evening...

ItsANewDayToday · 05/01/2016 11:19

TBH Jane sounds awful. Shock. I'll have to go and watch it.
