Not ruining it for you cream. Enjoy (if you can) im off to bed as i cant take it. Love to know the island the bbc filmed it on. (Graps the enid blyton)

DMCWelshCakes · 26/12/2015 21:56

I'm intrigued to know if they'll go with the book ending or the stage play, or possibly something else entirely.

londonrach · 26/12/2015 21:57

According to the news (was trying the find island) its the proper ending (whatever that is cream Grin).....

Cherrypie32 · 26/12/2015 22:00

I've scoured the Internet info but can't find anything about where it's filmed?! I wonder why bbc not saying.

GeorginaWorsley · 26/12/2015 22:00

No don't know island, there are islands off Mullion cove but none have houses.
I think lundy is probably correct.

CremeEggThief · 26/12/2015 22:01

This is more like The Shining than Miss Marple!Shock

BonitaFangita · 26/12/2015 22:03

So far so good. Love Agatha Christie and this is one of my favorites, very dark and full of despicable characters. Looks like it will stay quite faithful to the book so should be good

Baressentials · 26/12/2015 22:06

I didn't know there were 2 endings. I only know the book ending. Is the play different?

Euripidesralph · 26/12/2015 22:10

I'm recording but I'm really excited for it ... I've read the book several times and as others have said it's a lot darker so it will be interesting to see how it's done .... I plan to watch in the rare time both dc are napping lol

IjonTichy · 26/12/2015 22:18

This adaptation is looking good! I hate it when they piss about with the plot, or even change the murderer like they did with those awful ITV Miss Marples. This seems pretty faithful so far. I do like this story, it is definitely one of the darker Christies. Though I'm not sure why she is always considered so cosy, seeing as people come to a gruesome end in most of her books!

Aidan Turner is certainly an eye-opener Grin.

Baressentials · 26/12/2015 22:20

I am trying to remember which ITV one the changed the murderer for. Does anyone know?

DMCWelshCakes · 26/12/2015 22:20

Yes - the play came out during WWII and Agatha Christie thought that the original ending was too bleak for the times so altered it slightly.

EnthusiasmDisturbed · 26/12/2015 22:27

I thought it was really good very atmospheric

I would rate it 15 it's graphic and the story is dark

I also have been trying to find out where it was filmed that crater at the beginning where the cook is throwing scraps looked terrifying

IjonTichy · 26/12/2015 22:30

It was The Body in the Library, baressentials

snozzlemaid · 26/12/2015 22:34

The crater at the beginning is near Trevose Head in Cornwall. DP and me walked past there a few months ago. It's a strange thing to see. We stood almost exactly where she did.

Pipestheghost · 26/12/2015 22:40

I really enjoyed this. This adaptation seems much edgier than the usual AC adaptions.

anonymice · 26/12/2015 22:41

I thought the island was Lundy too with the house photo shopped onto it. Will investigate.... Or maybe Steep Holm....

Clawdy · 26/12/2015 22:42

It works well with the darker aspects of the story emphasised. In the book as I remember, the married couple are rather nondescript, and certainly not the strange troubled pair we saw tonight. So often, this is filmed in a rather jokey, almost send-up form. And the play has a very silly ending, compared to the book. This is looking promising. Wasn't the young drug-taker played by the boy who was Pip in Great Expectations?

EnthusiasmDisturbed · 26/12/2015 22:58

Thanks snozzle

It's certainly the eeriest AC adaptation I have seen

wigglesrock · 26/12/2015 23:01

I really enjoyed it, it was one of my favourite books. I first read it as a teenager and when I heard a new adaptation was going to be on I reread it a few months ago. I enjoyed it just as much again and sat up like a complete eejit until about 2am to finish it.

Elendon · 26/12/2015 23:58

I've also been to the spout hole at Travose. It's a great walk around all that headland and quite spooky too.

I just adored the book, highly recommend for a one sitting read on a dark wintry day by a fire.

Good old BBC. Perfect Christmas viewing.

emotionsecho · 27/12/2015 00:13

Also enjoying this, I haven't read the book so have no idea what to expect but from what I've seen so far I'd like to get the book.

Do we get to see/read all of the rhyme about the ten soldiers? I saw the first line and got the significance.

It's really intriguing, I can't wait for tomorrow night.

WeThreeMythicalKings · 27/12/2015 07:37

The harbour they set off from was Mevagissey, I think.

I also spotted Kynace Cove.

www.bugbog.com/beaches/british-beaches-uk/cornwall-kynance-cove.html

I also think the house is photo-shopped.

Baressentials · 27/12/2015 07:48

Thanks Ijon
Ds (16) watched it with me and he thoroughly enjoyed it.
Can't wait for tonights episode.
Though I am gutted if the house is photoshopped onto the island. Love the thought of a single house on a small island.
I am so sad but I would love to do an AC tour and visit all the locations where her books have been filmed.

Dipankrispaneven · 27/12/2015 08:25

According to this it was filmed in Cornwall and Hillingdon. If you think about it, there was no specific need to use an island.
