The agency that handled the "recruitment" would surely be under investigation!

In the book it is run by a Mr. Morris who is also a bad 'un. He is actually the 10th person. The judge kills him off the island by giving him indigestion pills which are poison.

Echoes of An Inspector Calls but with murder!

But late to this as watched last episode on Catch up.

Quick question, Vera was convinced there was only 1 bullet left and Judge showed her the 1bullet as he walked out the door BUT when he loaded the gun sitting at the table just before he shot himself, I'm sure you can see that that all the chambers have bullets in them?

Anyone else see that?

Lovelydiscusfish · 05/01/2016 22:19

Wine o'clock, yes I noticed that too.

Just came on, after catching up, to see if anyone else got confused by the loaded gun. Dh, who I am now suspicious of, says that manual pistols need to have the casings removed before reloading so it would look full if nobody had emptied it.

lorelei9 · 08/01/2016 22:26

The gun did look fully loaded to me but even then, I think it doesn't matter because the judge would have extra bullets and also might well have wanted the gun to appear to police as still having bullets in. I'll grant you that leaves the question of why the killer and his glass of wine left a gun on the table but perhaps that was all part of the fun.

I enjoyed it but I found it hard to believe that the judge managed to play dead and that no one saw the movement of him breathing or even sensed he was alive while carrying him to the bed. Did I miss something there, quite possible I have!

GruntledOne · 08/01/2016 22:50

He got the doctor to cover up for him. Maybe the doc kept everyone else at a distance?

lorelei9 · 08/01/2016 23:08

But we saw more than one person lay him out on the bed didn't we? And it would have needed more than one to carry him up the stairs?

Event at the Chelsea Physic Garden, sounds interesting:

Dark Brilliance: Agatha Christie, poisonous plants and murder mysteries.

Agatha Christie sat the Apothecaries' Assistants or Dispensers exam in 1917 and as her murder weapon of choice was often poison, it is clear to see how this knowledge influenced her work.
Christie lived close to the Garden in the 1930s and 40s and so this February, marking the 40th Anniversary of her death, a lively panel discussion around Christie's use of poisons in her novels will take place here at the Garden.

Tuesday 2 February, 6-8pm, £15 including a glass of wine.
