I was sad to see Anita go - she is absolutely fearless and will give anything a go on the dancefloor - but her dance had so little dance content that they didn't have much option other than to go with the routine with dance content. I like Anton (he came third in the first series, did they only have two in the final then?) and I think Katie is very graceful but I do feel sorry for Anita.

Just finishing watching, shame for Anita, I think she's better than Katie. I was also quite excited to see just how many Gleb specials would have been on the show dance.

Just reading upthread about the spoiler, so glad I didn't see it. Totally ruins the Sunday show when you already know who goes.

I think Anita was capable of doing a decent Salsa, if Gleb had choreographed one so it's a shame that she went into the dance-off with two so-so dances when Katie had one terrible and one good-ish dance.

Gleb should have made one of the two dances 'safe' by having lots of content appropriate to the dance and not too many risky moves, instead of doing two slightly risky ones.

I turned over to BBC4 after the results and watched a history of ballroom and ballet and other social forms of dance since the 50s, and there was our Darcy aged sweet 16, Margot Fonteyn aged 42 and Nureyev aged 24.
And Victor Silvester in Black and White on TV.
Must not forget a very young Arlene and her Hot Gossip dancers .
Come Dancing was on BBC1 until 1998 .

Katie did improve in a big way in the dance-off - she always has been good at ballroom, and once she got rid of the mistakes it couldn't help but be much better. But I agree the Anita and Gleb lost it when they chose to do the salsa.

But I think the reality is that she would have gone out first so we wouldn't have seen their showdance anyway.

If the format is what it has been for the last couple of years, we'll see all the showdances and it will be one of the other dances that is sacrificed by whoever doesn't get to the final three. I still begrudge the fact that we didn't see Sophie's Charleston again in the final.

Those awful high heeled trainers didn't help Anita much. She looked clumpy. I love Gleb, but I have to concede he's a bit show-offy.
kellie's ballroom dress was awful, she looked chubby around the middle, and she's anything but chubby in the midriff.

Tried for the tour for dd2 & my mum but it's v expensive/not local and only seats were quite far back.

So what dances do you think the finalists will do next week? Do they have to do one Latin and one ballroom (I.e are the facts that are 'picked' by the couples and the judges rigged a bit to ensure they do one of each?)

Clearly Jay is going to do his jive again and get the 40 it deserved first time round and maybe the tango?

Georgia has lots to choose from.

Kellie and Kevin will do their jive and possibly the quickstep.

Anton and Katie will be screwed if they have to do a Latin dance Grin

The rumour is that Jay won't jive because it's unimprovable, but will quickstep and something else - maybe tango, or AT or rumba. If that's true I hope Aliona will go fast paced side by side in the Showdance. If she's given absolutely free rein to show everything he can do best then it could be spectacular.

Well, that rumour had better be wrong AnyoneBut or I will be very Angry I'm looking forward to seeing that jive again, although it would be quite nice to see the Charleston again without Aliona being dropped, but I don't think they can choose a semi-final dance for the final.

The rumour came from the DS mole by the way - apparently Jay said it in his interview with Claudia, and when the cameras turned off the entire audience chanted "we want the jive" Grin

No way will Jay not do the jive - it is a proper crowd pleaser and the producers must know the audience is desperate to see it again! But I am sad that he won't do his Charleston as I would love to see it done properly and know what that lift was supposed to look like Wink

If the format is the same as in previous years the judges will pick a dance they want to see again and the couple will pick their favourite. I think it means one Latin, one Ballroom plus the Showdance.

Katie did a very respectable Rumba so she's got that in her back pocket. I suspect their Showdances will be a ramped up American Smooth.

You can't keep everyone happy with the dance-off - there was such a fuss a few weeks ago when Jamelia lost out to NPP despite (according to us!) dancing better in the DO, but with Peter being a stronger contestant overall - but then this week when the stronger/more versatile dancer went out based on the DO alone and not her previous performances. Then there's people who say there shouldn't be a DO at all, but that's not a great solution either.

The judges choose one dance for the final and the contestants choose one, don't they? This has sometimes led to some odd choices, as sometimes the judges choose something they loved and want to see and give 40 to again, and sometimes it's something the couple didn't do great at which the judges want to see them improve, like Frankie's samba. I really hope they don't pick one of Katie's Latin dances, as it'll just be painful.

I think Brendan has seemed a bit sour and bored this season too. I'd like to see them both go.

The new male pros seem big enough characters to carry the show now.

SheHasAWildHeart he has been on the USA strictly and the OZ one so his english should be ok....I think he is just not paying attention most of the time and preening for the cameras...

Did anyone notice he was at Kylie's head end?! All the top pros were there in that dance - audition for Kylie's backing dancers on her next tour?!
