Dp and DD think Monica has a thing for Nick.

Igneococcus · 09/12/2015 21:15

It all looked really good, didn't it?

Gasp0deTheW0nderD0g · 09/12/2015 21:22

No honeycomb, which was a plus!

Helenluvsrob · 10/12/2015 08:58

Well that was a blinder of a round! They had to all go through, not one adverse comment made about anything.

I'm sure they will send 2 home today. It'll be pretty obvious I suspect. Much as I love the spice guy ( Bobby?) I can't help thinking he'll hit a point where spices aren't the thing , and actually without we might find he's " all fur coat an no knickers" .... or maybe not? Maybe he'll be fab!

The really odd thing is looking back to the skills test and first " calling card" dishes I thought this lot looked like a really poor set of chefs compared to other years. So few of the skills tests were anywhere near ( and many of those hat were have left- so it's a poor indicator!)

CrownofStars · 10/12/2015 09:34

Wow! What a round. I'm so glad they took them all through. They produced such gorgeous food that they all really deserved it. The look on their faces was priceless. Those puddings though... I'm not a dessert eater usually but I wanted all three of those. At the same time, in a great big bowl. :)

Got to agree with Helen about Bobby, I think it's his use of spices that is carrying him and I'm not sure that he'll do so well in the group challenges.

Thurlow · 10/12/2015 10:29

Bobby worries me. Every time he serves up a dish I'm watching between my fingers in case it's the dish that is an absolute disaster. Of all the chefs at the moment, he looks like the one who could get it completely wrong.

SheHasAWildHeart · 10/12/2015 11:30

I always find it strange that when an Indian chef is on, viewers comment on their use of spices, but no-one seems remotely bothered that the non-Indian chefs pretty much only ever make meat, veg and a sauce - samey samey kinda stuff.

squoosh · 10/12/2015 11:33

That's true WildHeart. All the other chefs have a style they stick to as well, guinea fowl done two ways, some kind of jus, and a vegetable done three ways.

Oh and a crispy chicken skin on top.

SheHasAWildHeart · 10/12/2015 12:08

That said, Nick's desserts yesterday!! Wow. I thought the pistachio cake sounded lovely until I saw the amazing cheesecake. Never wanted to eat something on TV so much :)

GrouchyKiwi · 10/12/2015 14:14

I like everyone in that bunch of chefs, but I am unhappy with how much mushroom is involved in their dishes. And I now have the biggest craving for croquettes. They've made so many this season.

Those desserts were incredible.

Gasp0deTheW0nderD0g · 10/12/2015 17:25

Yes, Masterchef bingo is a lot tastier when they're all making croquettes, fondant potatoes and crispy chicken skin rather than foam, sea vegetables and edible flowers!

fourquenelles · 10/12/2015 20:18

Blinking heck I am sooo old. Mike Gatting is ancient these days. What happened? Sad

iklboo · 10/12/2015 20:33

I nearly didn't recognise Mike Gatting!

fourquenelles · 10/12/2015 20:40

I did a double take iklboo.

Igneococcus · 10/12/2015 20:56

I'm glad they took everyone through yesterday because everyone yesterday was better than everyone today, except for Danilo.

fourquenelles · 10/12/2015 21:00

I agree Igneococcus Smile

BobandKate0 · 10/12/2015 22:00

Was it Mike Gatting ? I thought i had switched over to the Sontaran Invasion on the Horror channel.
But MCTP is getting a bit Its a Knockout - why on earth did they have to de-camp to another kitchen 500 yards away ,couldn't they have cooked there in the first place ?Its not like they had to cater for 800,just one punter per cook.

iklboo · 10/12/2015 23:36

GrinBob

GrouchyKiwi · 11/12/2015 14:12

Kind of uninspiring food last night. That's where all the duds went (apart from the lovely Danilo).

squoosh · 11/12/2015 14:16

Danilo is the sweetest little thing!

I also love Scott and was a bit gutted for him and his pudding. And sad for Bobby. Yes his dish was a bit of a fail but it was his first fail.

My faves now are Danilo, Scott, and the cheery sweet-natured Scottish guy (Darren?).

I think the guy with the glasses will win though.

Igneococcus · 11/12/2015 16:49

I wonder how you could get a dinner invitation to the Italian embassy. That ambassador is eating very well.

Helenluvsrob · 11/12/2015 17:30

I might have a teeny Danilo crush going on ...

iklboo · 11/12/2015 17:37

Aw you could just pop in in your pocket couldn't you? Whip him out when you fancy a panacotta Wink

Dipankrispaneven · 12/12/2015 11:13

I've been catching up late, and several versions of the skills test round in quick succession lumped together is not to be recommended, particularly for Greg's safety if he should ever find himself in my vicinity.

What was quite funny however, was that often when one of the contestants departed from the methods Marcus or Monica used, he was doing a massive gurn as if they'd made a dreadful mistake - but when he turned to M & M with a "What a boo-boo" expression, he'd find them effectively shrugging their shoulders and saying "It's fine, there's more than one way to do this dish".
