expat yes Ragnar is very charismatic, even though he is a violent warrior, a rwally appealling character. But he obviously was a much better father to Uhtred than his own. A different view of Alfred, too - more ambivalent, a clever ruthless man with a vision.

Alfred is very patient with Uhtred, who admits to being a hothead (he gets better with age). Alfred does manipulate him, however.

DS needs to do a creative project based on an aspect of life in Anglo-Saxon times. I am thinking just stick him in front of the Iplayer and show him The Last Kingdom. Only kidding, he is 7. I really can't stand this type of homework.

Alfred's nephew the real king of wessex is very funny. I enjoyed his confession. I didnt quite understand why he was doing it and why he said uhtred would owe him one for it though?

His confession was deliberatly so funny that Alfred legged it (being famously fond of ahem, tits, himself apparently) so Uthred didn't have to say anything which probably meant he got to live to be decoratively uncompromising another day ;-)

SurlyCue I think the Queen hates them both, and she would not listen to profanities, so she would leave when he started shouting about tits. Then Alfred would leave and Uthred can stop grovelling. Yeah, whatever his name is, he grew on me.

Mind you I am Team Leofric all the way. He has a way with words.

Yes i like leofric too. I dont know the story so i'm hoping he doesnt turn against uhtred. The other guy that was in this episode used to be in shameless. He was the irish guy, mick something. I kept expecting him to fall into the irish accent

From memory you needn't worry about Leofric doing the dirty on Uthred..... Nephew is Aethelwold, think the tits speech is lifted almost exactly from the book, I remember laughing at it when I re-read them all recently..... Very jealous if you haven't read them, they are great books and Uthred is a brilliant character. The latest one is on my Christmas list, if I don't crack first....
