I think you get a lot of blokes who want to chase a girl and have to work for it, and if a girl is honest and says they like them then they regard them as easy and desperate and don't want them anymore. I suspect he's one of them.

She's well rid, he definitely has some sort of issue. The big thing for him seemed to be that she kissed him in the hot tub. I just got the feeling that he didn't like that she made the move on him and he objected to women behaving like that. Which is yuck really, glad Kate ran.

Yes maybe they were told to make it seem ambiguous so that we were all suckered in by the editing over the 3 episodes as they certainly were setting Emma and James up to seem as if they wouldn't work out. So the end result was all the more heart warming.
