It was all a bit convoluted but I bloody loved itGrin.

You have to expect absurd bits from Paul Abbot.

I loved the ending and can't wait for series two.

Rockytoptennessee · 23/06/2015 23:26

I love tonight's episode! I hope there's a 2nd series.

Did anything else happen after she gave her the button back? Our recording it off just at that point.

Felix75 · 23/06/2015 23:55

rocky - just what someone said up thread - the 3 women stand together and viv says "we good?"

I like that it's not been a typical police drama and the last 10 minutes spent with the criminal confessing etc etc - but now we'll get to the bottom of what happened between Patrick and Sean/Laurie. Did he not rape Cathy because she was pregnant or did he not rape any of them?

icelollycraving · 24/06/2015 07:57

Loved this series! The scene with them & the pony by the car reminded me of an out-take.
I love Viv,mainly because we look very alike. It's nice to see a bigger woman still looking quite glam.

Rockytoptennessee · 24/06/2015 08:03

Thanks Felix.

In the basement, didn't Laurie confess to raping Cathy?

icelollycraving · 24/06/2015 08:05

Yes,I'm sure he did.

I was a bit dubious about the whole Laurie thing, but I think the last 10 minutes of the prog dragged it back into the realms of OK.

Looking forward to the next series, hopefully without the "mad" section of the plot.....

gingercat12 · 24/06/2015 09:42

I loved it despite all the silliness. Sisterhood, aye!

However (sorry Michael Gove, I had to), they made a big thing about finding the button, but what happened with the camera and online streaming? What does GCHQ and Google or whoever is watching think about that footage? Don't they monitor Viv's computer at the police? She checked in on the happenings at the basement at the station...

MomentOfWonder · 24/06/2015 09:52

Thank you Gingercat, that's what I thought too! It strained my suspension of disbelief that a senior detective hasn't (yet?) thought of that...

Felix75 · 24/06/2015 11:08

Yeah it's also a lot to cover up - Viv and Dinah being near viv's house for a chunk of the day. People might have seen Dinah and Cathy leave etc etc. They didn't seem to try and make it look like a break-in or anything.

KurriKurri · 24/06/2015 12:44

It did get little bit frantic as all the loose ends were tied up, but I still loved it. Just loved the fact that it about strong interesting women characters, who are intelligent and funny. I think Paul Abbot captured really well the kind of bonds and deeply loyal relationships that women have.

Best line of the series has to be 'It's not your dad Viv, it's a pony' GrinGrin

Can't wait for the next series.

gaggiagirl · 24/06/2015 12:55

Did they say at the end it would be back next year or next autumn?

I am still traumatised by the death by expanding foam!
I found it one of the most horrendous things I have ever seen on tv. I had to watch from behind a cushion, normally can stomach most things but that really got to me. I think Cathy hid in Dinahs car as she realised that Dinah knew who the killer was and was going to find him.

Brilliant. I loved it, but that was the most gruesome TV killing I have ever seen. Shock

gaggiagirl · 24/06/2015 17:24

Was that the last one last night? Nooooooooooo

OnlyLovers · 26/06/2015 16:32

Late to this thread, but that was awesome!

Loved the no-nonsense women. Passed the Bechdel Test with flying colours.

Love how fast and furious and filled with asides and non sequiturs it was. Very realistic and naturalistic in some ways, but almost surreal too.

The husband turning up with lawyers literally hours after his wife and baby died, really didn't seem plausible. I agree, right, this was one of very few duff notes for me. I thought the crime had happened ages ago and was only now coming to light; that'd be more plausible IMO.

So happy it's coming back. I want ALL the same core cast. Joanna Scanlan kicks arse.

hackmum · 26/06/2015 18:51

The last episode stretched credulity a bit. It was like the ending to a Hollywood Film, like Fatal Attraction or something. But the cast did it so brilliantly you could suspend disbelief.

As usual I was a bit hazy about what was going on. Is this Michael Docherty character someone who'd already appeared? They all behaved as if they knew him. It didn't explain as far as I could see why/how his wife and child had died or why it was whatsisface's fault.

But Joanna Scanlon really kicks ass, doesn't she?

gingercat12 · 26/06/2015 19:46

hackmum I had no clue who that bloke was or when the birth happened.
