The sun shines on the righteous Nickel. Have a good weekend!

Nickel45 · 15/05/2015 08:24

Oh no, don't say that! It'll be chucking it down by lunch time!!!!

orphan · 15/05/2015 08:59

nickel have a fab time!

Wow, jen what can I say? You are an incredibly talented writer. That ending was simply perfect. I absolutely loved the way it came full circle and was suffused with such warmth and love. Smile

painted hope you managed an audible snack before the inevitable crack.

icemistOBE · 15/05/2015 09:00

Just read back over last night and trying to stifle the laughter.

Good luck with Carry on Camping Nick sure it'll be a blast. Ooh good an Update from Jen going to read that in a min.

Had a lovely evening ogling Matthias at cinema watching Far From Madding Crowd. He sure is mighty fine, even in the farmers smock and neckerchief. So, keeping up with the horticultural euphemisms, he can plough my field anytime he likes Grin

cjwoofwoof · 15/05/2015 10:23

jen that was a superb story and brilliant finale, you really are the nuts. Rhubarbs updated too hurrah!

Paintedcherryblossoms · 15/05/2015 10:36

nickel have fun under canvas Brew
Wonderful ending jen I genuinely admire your style of writing it's brilliant Smile

How strange Icemist, I was at school for assembly too this morning. Where is your little one at school? It would be funny if we discovered we had kids in the same class!

Painted just as well I went to bed before reading about your audible crack, you naughty lovely lady!

Jen that was such a quality ending, such a good idea to have them at Laugharne, and you wrote it with such a light touch, which gave it just the right amount of bitter sweetness to end with... it was marvellous, please don't leave FF, I'll miss you so much...

Pixie thanks for the advice on FF. I got into an awful mess there yesterday. Having heard that lots of people stopped reading stories once they became M rated, I decided to try doing the naughty chapters separately. But then I thought if people just came across the naughty chapters they wouldn't make sense on their own, so I put them all in and now I have two stories, sets of stats, reviews, some people following one, some following the other, some following both and it's a nightmare. Probably all the readers are cross with me for confusing them and the other FF writers will be pissed off with me for space hogging and at one point last night I almost deleted the lot! I'm going to try to sort it all out today and be a bit more sensible in the future!

Ilove would you mind giving me some advice on courgettes please? - they are about three weeks old and grown from seed so have their first true leaf. Can I transplant them into bigger pots now? They are in tiny trays at the moment.

And finally Ilove it seems to me with all your seed planting, pruning and gardening, you should be known as Ilove, KLG, Keeper of the Lady Garden!

Paintedcherryblossoms · 15/05/2015 11:40

I wouldn't worry too much dance you are putting in time and effort to write great stories for people to choose to read or not as is their wish. It's not that hard to find things with the filters anyhow ....keep up the great work and whilst it's nice to have the encouragement of readers, followers and reviews don't forget to just enjoy writing the material too. There will always be enough of us to appreciate the great stories that are crafted and keep the OG flame burning...this thread is evidence of that Smile

Rhubarb01 · 15/05/2015 11:48

Oh gosh, just catching up - I never knew gardening could be so entertaining. I can't claim to know much about gardening I rely on my mum or my BIL for advice on that. The mention of courgettes however, made me wonder if anyone's mentioned the size of their marrows yet!

Ilovelblue · 15/05/2015 11:55

Dance yes, put them into bigger pots now but unless you have a greenhouse or potting shed, I wouldn't consider planting them outside until the beginning of June as they are very receptive to any cold nights we may have. I tend to pull off the male flowers and only keep the female ones on but there seems to be divided opinion on this. You know how to tell the difference between the males and females?

I have an award! I have always wanted an award! Thank you! I think I need to add it to our CJ Collective Handbook. In fact, there are a few new euphemisms that need to go in there. I might do it next weekend over the bank holiday.

Nickel45 · 15/05/2015 12:26

Found a signal :) bit intermittent, but hopefully enough to keep up :)

Not commented for a little while as tablet was playing up.
First of all sorry to hear about your little one and his leg, I thought a week with chickenpox George was bad enough!! Also I too loved the ending (and the beginning and the middle) to your story. Fab writing as always.
Painted did CJ pick up any fashion tips whilst he was in the V & A?
Not knowing what all you guys do, hearing gabout all these trips to the capital makes me think I am in the midst of some very high flying ladies, who hold down demanding jobs, look after children and write amazing FF, I really don't know how you do it but I am in awe of you.
I am also in awe of those who give up their time to go away on cub/scout camp, what a selfless thing to do. Just the word 'tent' is enough to put shivers down my spine add to that more than one child and I would have a 'Julius Caeser'. Definitely above and beyond in my book!
Speaking of books, I noticed our local Sainsbury's are selling the first in the Poldark series. Question is,do I buy it and add it to the pile of other books I intend to read which are gathering dust in a corner of my room whilst I read lovely FF?
Can' t really add any insight to the gardening euphemisms but next time hubby offers to go tend to the neighbours lawn I will be having words!!

SoEverybodyDance · 15/05/2015 12:44

Of course you are right painted the fun is mostly in the writing...

Rhubarb so far we have been discussing lady garden items, but since the subject of male and female has been raised, perhaps someone will volunteer! My courgettes, as already described are not worth the effort!

Ilove Thank you, I do have a greenhouse but as it is on an allotment, I don't want to have to go there every day at the moment to water, so best keep them in the house... Don't know the difference between males and female courgette flowers, perhaps as the KLG, you have a picture?

Rhubarb01 · 15/05/2015 13:01

Oh mummy the most interesting thing I do all week is go to Tesco's. The FF writing and reading and contributing to this thread are my escape from the humdrum boringness of everything else I do and I'm very grateful for it. The knock on effect however, is that since October my house has fallen into wrack and ruin!

I can't remember the last time I went anywhere very exciting - it was probably up to jens part of the world to see some athletics in Glasgow last August for the Commonwealth Games. As I did the park and ride scheme all I know are the place I parked the car two days running after almost pulling my hair out trying to locate it and ending up back on the motorway going the wrong way, Hampden Park and the Asda store opposite These things have to last me a while!

Thinking about dance's question to Ice it does sometimes amuse me to think people I know might be someone on here or lurking and I look around trying to spot the most likely candidates. Yes very strange, I know. My family would definitely agree.

cjwoofwoof · 15/05/2015 13:54

I'm with you Rhu, I'm certainly no high flyer mummy. Honestly, being Duchess of Cambridge in RL is really quite boring, especially the endless nappies lately...

Ilovelblue · 15/05/2015 14:03

Don't have a photo to hand Dance (am at work and googling male and female parts may flag up all sorts of things)! However, it is very easy to tell because the male flowers have nothing behind them (draw your own conclusions from that) but the female flowers will have a small round fruit at the back of them. Opinion is divided on what you do with the male flowers - pull them off or leave them. They are quite pretty to be fair but useless so I usually pull them off so that all the energy can go into the female fruit production. You would treat pumpkins and cucumbers in the same way.

Hope that helps!

Just call me Charlie Dimmock. I have the red hair but fortunately always choose to wear a bra!

cjwoofwoof · 15/05/2015 14:07

So Dance the question must surely be, if CJ was a vegetable, would he be a courgette, a cucumber, an aubergine...or more likely in my world a marrow Wink and can he tell the difference between the male and female flowers Confused ??

orphan · 15/05/2015 15:02

Glad you enjoyed Matthias in FFMC woof. He certainly can pull off a smock can't he? although that's literally the first thing he does when he comes to do double digging with Rupert

orphan · 15/05/2015 15:05

And he's no slouch when it comes to identifying male and female parts. Something dear old Ian Ogilvy had slight problems with back in our flat share days.

Ilovelblue · 15/05/2015 15:12

Am I being a bit dim here, is Ian Ogilvy batting for the other side then?

Richtea19 · 15/05/2015 15:12

jen I've just read the end of In the Long Run. So bloody brilliant, you are such a talented author, all of you are actually! But I absolutly loved the ending. I didn't want it to end, but it had to! I'm now going to read it all again in one hit. rhubarb your latest is another full of angst! Just loving it.

dance I completely approve of the M rating.. Brillaint :)

cjwoofwoof · 15/05/2015 15:13

Ditto orph although to be fair to dear Ian, our lady gardens were a trifle difficult to fathom amongst all that body fur, and he did always say my face looked like a smacked arse so how he even knew which way was up is still a mystery. He did have fun working it out though...

orphan · 15/05/2015 16:05

oh dear I didn't mean to imply anything regarding Ogilvy's sexual orientation ilove said hastily in case there's a litigation team reading this just that as woof says and our pics yesterday showed, we were rather hirsute and strangely masculine in appearance...
