Anyone else looking forward to this one? After last time I think there a BOys and a Girls island though it is just boys tonight. Roll up roll up anyone who has no idea how to lit a fire or build a shelter whilst knowing they are going on a survival program!

Wild pigs don't follow people across an island & sleep with them - they have to have been planted there!

I'm getting the impression that there are different rules for the two islands - the women have poncho's dry bags, whistles, tame pigs - not seen any of that on the men's island.

At least the soppy PHD girl went - it's a toss up whether I'd have eaten her or the Scottish girl first!

kerstina · 23/04/2015 22:42

Oh my ! I haven't cried like that for a long time had to leave the room and not watch the end .i just could not kill a pig they are as intelligent as dogs and I would sooner starve. I agree I don't think the pigs were native to the island but the way they followed the women around was heartbreakingHmmknowing they would soon be their dinner .

HollyJollyDillydolly · 23/04/2015 23:13

Rip sage & onion. They seemed really tame, so surprised they followed the women when they moved camps.

Jacana · 23/04/2015 23:20

So did the veggie girl not eat anything at all then? She's going to be next off the island if so.

Akire · 24/04/2015 00:16

Glad they finally ate the pigs. Who's idea was it to be a veggie? Unless they are expecting her to crack. In a survival situation you have to eat. I do hope now the women have found water and can make fire they can build a decent shelter and start searching for food. It would be horrid of the whole 6 weeks are so desperate.

You definitely do get wild pigs in the south pacific if that's where they are? Loads of them in fact, there must be more I reckon! Also much more edible stuff to forage, I'm surprised they haven't spent some time doing that.

Travelledtheworld · 24/04/2015 04:21

If there was a mama pig with two, relatively small piglets, where is the Boar ?Plenty of pork chops on him......

Jacana · 24/04/2015 04:51

And pigs have large litters, too, don't they?

piggychops · 24/04/2015 07:05

Pretty sure these were planted. A mother pig is usually really protective over her piglets. They looked quite small too.

giraffesCantPluckTheirEyebrows · 24/04/2015 07:20

She was so lucky that water didn't get in her eyes/face

nequidnimis · 24/04/2015 07:40

The pigs were definitely planted, along with iguanas and coconuts, and some muddy pools were lined so that rainwater wouldn't drain away, according to this article in the Telegraph.

PHD girl was a massive wet blanket

Fair enough - as long as both islands were treated the same - I've not seen any self-basting pigs on the mens island yet, but they could still find some I suppose!

Hassled · 24/04/2015 08:57

How are the women coping with periods, do you think? Have they mentioned anything?

Travelledtheworld · 24/04/2015 09:22

If they carry on losing weight they will stop menstruating !

ProfYaffle · 24/04/2015 09:28

I think last year they planted the Caiman didn't they? But this year there were wild Caiman naturally present so maybe they didn't need to plant animals on the mens island. The women do seem to have more equipment than the men though.

scattercushion · 24/04/2015 10:25

I am absolutely engrossed in this series but have a few gripes.

I think they could have transported glowing embers from the first camp to the second - in the water tank. Aboriginal women used to use 'firesticks'.
AND
They knew that there are torrential downpours, why didn't they store some dry kindling and wood in the waterproof rucksacks?
AND
Why did they have the cap on the water tank while they were boiling it?
AND
why haven't the women set up traps etc?

Need a bit of common sense sometimes.
I shake my telly at the fist, I tell you.

The camera woman Georgie is my favourite, she has a good attitude. And I liked the way she guffawed when whatshername flashed her bot.

Jacana · 24/04/2015 10:30

Thanks for the telegraph link iknow. Another tip for our intrepid wannabe...stuff your bra with peanutsGrin

I've had to buy a "swearword dictionary" as I've used up all the ones I know!! Grin

NeedABumChange · 24/04/2015 11:33

So disappointed with the ladies they've cast for this show, bar a couple they are all awful. Stereotypical unable to do anything, talk for hours types. They are really mostly quite crap.
Why did they get stuck with a veggie and no builders compared to the men's team?

Jacana · 24/04/2015 12:21

Not that the two men builders contributed much, thoGrin

Twirlwirlywoo · 24/04/2015 12:26

I am another really dissapointed with most of the girls.

They still seem to be floundering along.

They dont seem to have a proper camp with a shelter built, regular water and food routine.

Why have we not seen the girls trying to fish yet??

They just seem to be lurching from one issue to the next!

They should have shelter to protect their fire and firewood as a basic by now!

I would also love to apply for next years!

HollyJollyDillydolly · 24/04/2015 13:40

The men on the last series seemed so much more organised. None of the original camp left either, didn't see them satellite phone once.
The girls had to phone for help so they could start the fire and they wandered around lost for days.

beanlovesb · 24/04/2015 13:48

one of the ladies was supposed to have some sort of construction related role but I think she's the one that left last week. They mentioned something like "oh great now the only person who knew anything about building has gone".

I love this program but the women are useless! I can't really keep track of time either, one minute it says they're 11 days in, which is around about when they set up the new camp I think, then 2 minutes later it says they are 15 days in, and all they see to have done in that time is play with pigs.

What exactly have they been eating (and this includes the men, apart from the croc)? There hasn't been any real mention of where they are getting their meagre 300 daily calories from, is it limpets?

Also they didn't show how /where the women found their new water source, this has been bothering me. Do you think they are so useless the producers have been having to tip them off?

Agreed with whoever said they should have thought about carrying embers to the new camp and keeping their wood supply dry. It really is frustrating watching! what are they doing with their days?! sleeping and sunbathing?!

so glad the drip left
