Grin Anyone else counting down the days! I actually get nervous thinking about it. I have re watched all series and reading the books to pass the time.

Can't wait to see what they do with Sansa and Tyrion this series. And will we see the hound again and lady stone heart?

Makes sense SerJorah - thanks.

AldiQ7 · 15/05/2015 08:38

I think Melisandre will kill/try to kill Shireen and Stannis will lose his shit and do away with her in a mucho dramatic way. We have already seen that Shireen means a lot to him and that he really loves her.

Stannis's wife just makes me really uneasy - I kind of just feel like she is just going to throw herself from the top of the wall at any moment!

I have always found all of Ramsay Snow's scenes really hard to watch, which is just testament to how great an actor he is. He is just a pure psycho - I thought he might just miranda's throat there and then the other day. I can't see a great future for her, or Walda tbh - the baby could become significant though?

gingercat12 · 15/05/2015 12:44

Aldi I think Fat Walda's baby is doomed. He / she may be the child who will be referred to as "had he lived he would would have grown up to be a Frey" , which is one of the ultimate insult in the book.

Did anybody else miss the line "Don't let me rue the day I raped your mother" - Bolton-style father-son bonding?

I know a lot of people speculate about the possibility of Frey-pies, but are there any other Freys in Winterfell other than Walda and baby?

Please, noone hurt Princess Shireen....

I think Bronn's role expanded as Wilko Johnson (Ser Ilyn Payne) got cancer, and also it is much funnier to hear them spar than just Jaime's monologue. Somehow I think by the end o this season bye-bye, Bronn... He so would deserve to die surrounded by his sons, though.

Abraid2 · 15/05/2015 15:48

ILikeToClean, glad it's not just me!

Shireen does seem a good sort. She needs to hook up with Arya. Or Yara (Usha in the books). Girl power.

limitedperiodonly · 15/05/2015 17:04

I wonder if it'll be Shireen, Gendry or Jon Snow for the throne?

I'm going for Jon Snow and am going to watch that dinner party clip for the hundredth time. I never tire of it.

AmberFool · 15/05/2015 19:09

But Jon Snow is a Man of the Watch. Smile

I'm thinking that there may be a couple of different people on the throne by the end - usurpation and all that.

But that baby would be a Bolton, not a Frey. Has Roose married Walda?

I like Shireen. I hope she stays alive.

Shadow babies - takes a lot out of the person whose shadow it is. Stannis was very weak for a while afterwards. That's something I never got - if Mel worships the god of light why does she create shadow babies? I know she says something like you can't have light without dark etc but surely the god of light would frown upon someone actively seeking the dark side especially as light is what she worships?

CadieAgain · 15/05/2015 19:53

That's an interesting point about shadow babies. I also remember it taking a huge toll on Stannis. Echoes the magic Mirri Maz Duur performed with Drogo. "Only death can pay for life", sacrifice and the double meaning of Drogo's "life" Sad

gincamelbak · 16/05/2015 08:29

Someone said littlefinger was a minor character - not true! He's the one who convinced lysa arryn to murder Jon arryn right at the start. He has some sort of plan that seems to be playing the whole game.

I'm re watching from the start and in series 1 he tells the red haired girl who came from wintwrfell about howhe got his name and hhow Brandon stark cut him nose to navel and says v angrily something along the lines that he wanted to play them at their own game or beat them or similar.

Other characters - I gave up on Dany by this point in the book. And couldn't get into the Dorne storyline as there seemed (to me) to be endless exposition on trade and BLA DE BLA. I treated it like GoT version of Tom Bombadil from Lord of the Rings...

rallytog1 · 16/05/2015 08:40

I've got a very bad feeling about Walda and her baby Sad

Completely forgot about Gendry! I wonder if he's still rowing...

Gasp0deTheW0nderD0g · 16/05/2015 09:41

Yes, Roose has married Walda. Walder Frey offered him his pick of the Frey women with a dowry equivalent to the woman's weight in gold (or something else valuable) so he picked the fattest. Smile

Ramsay is terrifying, but the apple has not fallen very far from the tree there! I'd back Roose over Ramsay any day. He's more calculating.

Vivacia · 16/05/2015 11:49

Roose knows that Ramsey would kill any baby Walda has, and it doesn't worry him too much.

Trills · 16/05/2015 13:53

"Fat Walda" is prettier than I expected.

(they called her that in the books - I'm not doing it by myself - Freys were always calling their sons Walder and daughters Walda in hopes of getting favour, so they call had to have some other waay of identifying which one you were talking about)

FatWalda · 16/05/2015 14:07

Why, thank you, Trills Grin

mistymeanour · 16/05/2015 15:16

My DD (22) and I were talking about how all the older guys in GOT look much more imposing and attractive than the young ("hot") ones, even to her young eyes (and she doesn't usually find older guys attractive at all). The oldies have such gravitas in their knightly garb - Ser Barristan and Tywin Lannister (Charles Dance) looked fantastic. Jaime, Ser Jorah and Stannis all look great too. Whereas the younger ones such as Dario Naharis etc haven't made much impact.

Trills · 16/05/2015 15:38

Daario is not that young. And he is HOT.

Jon Snow/Robb/Theon/etc (all the teenagers, basically) did not do it for me.

Gasp0deTheW0nderD0g · 16/05/2015 16:33

If I'd made an early start and if the characters were the same age as they are in the books (ie a lot younger in most cases) I could be Jon Snow's grandmother. Nevertheless, he certainly does it for me!

Trills · 16/05/2015 17:28

The comment on age made me think.

Another way in which the series is potentially "giving away" plotlines of the books (or ruling things out, at least).

In the books Tommen is YOUNG. Like, under 13. So there's no chance he and Margaery have consummated their marriage, therefore Margaery is in a much more precarious position.

In the show, they have consummated the hell out of that marriage. Therefore her position is more secure. As much as it can be in this world.

So it's unlikely that Margaery+Tommen's marriage will end up being nullified in the books, or if it is it'll not be a big point.

Trills · 16/05/2015 17:30

How do you think they decide that boys are ready for marriage in this world? As opposed to serious-legally-binding betrothals)?

With Sansa they were waiting til she got her period, which seems like a fairly sensible defining point (rather upsetting if you are Maragret Beaufort etc, but still at east it's nice and clear).

limitedperiodonly · 16/05/2015 18:21

It was seeing Stephen Dillane in The Tunnel that did it for me. Either him or Jason Isaacs. I don't mind.

Trills · 16/05/2015 18:51

Lucius Malfoy!

Cooroo · 16/05/2015 23:55

Yes, some lovely men more suited to my age - Barristan, Bron, Tywin. Well maybe not that old. Mind you Melisandre is pretty amazing, and so dignified you couldn't say her nude scenes are in any way demeaning.

Lweji · 17/05/2015 00:19

In the books Tommen is YOUNG. Like, under 13. So there's no chance he and Margaery have consummated their marriage,

Because no boy of that age has ever got a girl pregnant? :)

Of course they could have consumated the marriage.

Lweji · 17/05/2015 00:22

Also, AFAIK, in Roman times, boys became men when they first shaved.
Maybe in GoT they are somewhat similar?

FatWalda · 17/05/2015 00:54

Tommen may be under 13 at the beginning of the story, but time hasn't stood still and kids grow up fast.

Trills · 17/05/2015 10:30

In the books they celebrate Joffey's 13th with a tourney (the one where the drunk knight is saved from death by Sansa and made into a fool instead).

Joffrey - Myrcella - Tommen. So Tommen is at least 2 years younger. More realistically. More from the sound of his behaviour and speech.

It's true that we don't know how fast time is passing. But I'm fairly certain that in the books it is stated that he is too young for the marriage to consummated. Which is why I'm interested in any theories of watershed "old enough now" moments for boys.
