Is anyone else looking forward to this? It is going to be shown on Sunday nights once the present series of 'Call the Midwife' has finished.

I loved the original series even though the story did stray from the books a bit. I wonder how this one will go. I understand Robin Ellis has a bit part in the new version as the Reverend Halse.

I do feel sorry for Elizabeth whenever Francis starts licking her neck or humping her leg. To be stuck with a man who looks like Beeker from The Muppets when she could have had Ross must be hard to take.

Snowstorm · 27/03/2015 13:08

Ha!ha! Squoosh - funny!! If I was Elizabeth I'd be over at Ross's every day, throwing myself at the man ... I'm not sure everyday morals count when it comes to Ross Grin

JeanneDeMontbaston · 27/03/2015 13:19

It is a bit, isn't it, twinkle!

squoosh - bleugh, yes, so true!

Also - it's not just me is it - when I saw the bit with Francis I was thinking FFS, man, she's just had a baby! She doesn't want to shag you!

I know some people are up for it when they've barely left the maternity ward if MN is to be believed, but still.

AWholeLottaNosy · 27/03/2015 18:49

I had a really weird erotic dream last night involving AT and...Jeremy Clarkson! ( think I'm spending too much time on these threads...) Smile

Get yourself on Twitter girls. There's a live Q&A with Aidan Turner on Twitter after Sunday's episode, at 10pm. Follow @BBCOne.

funnyossity · 27/03/2015 19:46

I thought Francis was lovely but he will now be forever Beeker.Angry

squoosh · 27/03/2015 20:20

Sorry! But it's uncanny.

Oooh snozzlemaid ... thanks!!!! What do I have to type into Google to get that? (Technophobe emoticon)

Snowstorm · 27/03/2015 20:27

squoosh - just laughed so loudly that DH nearly dropped boiling pan of pasta ... oh dear, poor Francis ... that's him and Ed Miliband as confirmed Muppets forever then.

snozzlemaid · 27/03/2015 20:32

You'll need to sign up to Twitter and then search for BBCOne and follow them.

Snowstorm · 28/03/2015 09:41

Great - thank you!

snozzlemaid · 28/03/2015 10:39

The hashtag to use is #AskPoldark if you've got any questions for him.
I'm sure we can all think of a few inappropriate ones Grin

2rebecca · 28/03/2015 19:53

I have no sympathy for Elizabeth. Francis gave her a get out clause and she refused it. Short term thinking on her behalf, although she also seems to love all her nice things and playing lady of the manor so don't really see her roughing it with Ross. She had her chance and blew it (twice)

woodhill · 28/03/2015 21:06

I loved thr books and have read all of them years' ago. he loves Elizabeth and Demelza seems to always seems to come second. I liked the books.

Sunnymeg · 29/03/2015 10:31

Looking ahead, Nampara seems a bit small to host a play and invite the village.

OP posts:
snozzlemaid · 29/03/2015 10:36

I think it looks a bit bigger than the Nampara in the 70s. With furniture moved they managed then.

Sunnymeg · 29/03/2015 11:05

Perhaps it's just my view of it then.

I am really enjoying this thread and would like to write a whole essay about the circumstances and mindsets of Ross and Demelza that lead them to first sleep together but I am at work and also I am far too busy thinking about Aiden Turner's excellent scything work from last week.

Also loving the Francis/Beaker comparison.

I can't take George Warleggan seriously though. He is still Freddie in Blandings for me, and I keep expecting him to knock over a vase and catch it in a comedy way, rather than sit all seriously pretending to do sums but all the time daydreaming about Elizabeth

OnlyLovers · 29/03/2015 18:33

Sorry, what's the get-out clause Freddie gave Elizabeth? I must not have been paying attention to the plot.

I can't imagine why, eh Aidan?

2rebecca · 29/03/2015 19:51

He told her that as Ross had returned and she and Ross had been romantically entwined in the past that he'd understand if she decided she no longer wished to marry him (although he still loved her madly). She said "oh no I really want to marry you Freddie" or something similar , rather than "thank you I need time to think about things as Ross and I were very much in love and would have got married if he hadn't gone to war" (which war and why didn't Freddie go if it was so important?). Her response made no sense whatsoever but the books would have been more boring if she'd married Ross

sprout44 · 29/03/2015 19:59

Girls, can i ask . I have missed the first 3 episodes so would it be ok to just catch up or do you need to know the story. I can tape it from here on and see if i like it.

reallywittyname · 29/03/2015 20:02

I would totally recommend you watch all three episodes and pay lots of attention to Aiden's hair/eyes/muscles/naked upper half/manly scything the intricate and detailed plot.

Grin Grin Grin

DameEdnasBridesmaid · 29/03/2015 21:19

sprout Our hero returned after 3 years at war to find his sweetheart Elizabeth married to his cousin. He restarted his family's tin mine, married his servant (rescued from abusive family). That's it.

Acting is shite, story laborious but AT is heart stoppingly gorgeous and therefore the series is fabulous.

freakazoidroid · 29/03/2015 21:24

Have I missed them actually getting married????

Travelledtheworld · 29/03/2015 21:31

OMG AT is just too delicious tonight, even though he hasn't taken his shirt off yet....[perve]
