The other thread was full and people still seem pretty pissed off about the whole series, so I thought we'd better have another thread to moan about it Grin

Previous thread.

So what will series3 be?

The trial of the Sandbrook 3?

Something new to convict Joe (but they can't find him??)

Another old case to solve whilst the Sandbrook trial takes place/collapses?

Fiderer · 25/02/2015 09:36

I hope it's not Ellie ringing Hardy to say that Joe's taken Fred.

Tom went v quickly from not wanting to see his mum and lying in court on Joe's behalf to wanting nothing to do with him. When Joe did his "You can't banish me" bit before he got in the taxi, it was to Mark who was standing with his arm around Tom's shoulder.

Candycandle · 25/02/2015 09:41

Series 3 starts with Joe trying to see his kids. Maybe he sends the sheffield version of a bluebell to Tom? Some sheffield steel.

EauRouge · 25/02/2015 09:52

Or some cutlery? A really menacing fork maybe. I don't think we'll have seen the last of Joe, or at least I hope not- bit unbelievable that he would just go to Sheffield, stay there and not get himself into any more trouble.

OP posts:
diddl · 25/02/2015 09:54

If he has been found not guilty (as opposed to innocent!), would he have a right to see his kids?

Would the fact that he was meeting Danny in secret & gave him money quash that.

Plus his kids rights to be protected from him!!

diddl · 25/02/2015 09:55

I thought that he was supposed to go abroad, but only being helped as far as Sheffield?

MissM · 25/02/2015 10:31

Hmm, he's going in the wrong direction for abroad if Sheffield is on the way. Unless he's going to Belgium via Hull I suppose. Or Scotland after the General Election Wink?

Northernexile · 25/02/2015 10:42

They just said he was on his own after the halfway house in Sheffield. I don't think anyone mentioned going abroad.

OnlyLovers · 25/02/2015 11:31

I thought it was floorboards, or at least engineered wood?

I agree that banishment seemed quite fittingly old-fashioned and Hardyesque, However, it fell a bit flat because the series as a whole didn't earn that ending; not nearly enough sense of moral weight or tragic grandeur.

I think in S3 Joe will come back and so will Hardy. Hardy will have dug up or will try to dig up new evidence to re-try him.

MissM · 25/02/2015 11:44

'I think in S3 Joe will come back and so will Hardy.'

I read that and thought you meant Thomas Hardy! Mind you, it's not a complete leap of imagination by B2 standards that the great muse himself might start to appear in visions.

OnlyLovers · 25/02/2015 11:49

Yes, like God in the sky in Monty Python. Grin

Oh well that was poo.

What a letdown. Loved this thread though and dt accent and beard.

Candycandle · 25/02/2015 14:45

A menacing looking stainless steel fork with some brown ringlets attached! Miller gets it and finally thinks "OMFG! WHERE'S FRED"

EauRouge · 25/02/2015 15:01

And then the rest of the cast say "who's Fred?" and the entire first episode is dedicated to explaining who he is.

Actually I did quite enjoy series 2 in the end. It wasn't as good as series 1, but the acting was still amazing (OC as always was fab, and ClaireGwen was brilliant too). I'll still watch series 3.

OP posts:
Candycandle · 25/02/2015 15:06

I thought Fred was a girl until Miller speaks about getting Fred from nursery to Hardy. Thank god for subtitles or if she had said Fred out of context I wouldn't have twigged who she was talking about.

Blondeshavemorefun · 25/02/2015 15:34

so who was sending bluebells to claire? ricky? and why - to remind her to keep mouth shut or else ricky would say lee killed couisn?

hackmum · 25/02/2015 19:42

They should have made it properly Hardyesque and done a skimmity ride outside the hut. That would have learned him.

alteredimages · 25/02/2015 20:34

Agree that the final episode was shockingly bad. I didn't think the series as a whole was that bad, but absolutely nothing believable happened in the last episode.

I am only watching season 3 if MNers write it. Or it starts with Hardy and Miller being dismissed for being Britain's worst police officers.

APlaceInTheWinter · 26/02/2015 10:49

Noooo they can't dismiss Hardy and Miller because that would leave us with the blooming lawyers! And although I think Charlotte Rampling is incredibly elegant and controlled and dignified and lots of other stuff I'd like to be when I grow up I really couldn't face a season 3 about the other lawyer's son.

hackman yy to the skimmity ride - I thought the hillside banishment was all very Mayor of Casterbridge!

'Fred' should become a cipher for our thread
(or, rather, our script for the next series).

So, although all other characters will have aged about 6/12months, Fred will have become about 10 years old at start of Series 3 (as plausible as anything else in this series...) and will exist purely to suggest plot lines and comments created by the MN Bring Back Well Written Broadchurch Support Group).

Then, OC can say: 'OMG - what about Fred' and we can all CHEER!!!

APlaceInTheWinter · 26/02/2015 14:43

I hope we don't have to wait two years for series 3. It will be impossible to hold all the different strands of series 2 in my head for that long. I'm pretty sure I'll start confusing our theories with the actual series and the series 3 threads will be a long list of 'what was important about the laminate again?' and 'who owned the furnace?' I'm pretty sure we'll end up with an alternate reality where the furnace owner lived in France; Fred sent Claire the bluebells every time he was off-screen and where Lee did end up going to jail for illegally burning laminate.
