Anyone watching?

OP posts:
OnlyLovers · 17/04/2015 19:02

Dust, well, yes. I meant good in the sense that those who think she did the right thing not divorcing her husband/rocking the boat mean it; that's why I put it in inverted commas.

I don't normally like Matthew Goode at all; am surprised by how fond I am of him in this. I guess it's actually Finn I like. Grin

Same here. Finn is a very likeable character.

I heard Diane on Graham Norton's radio show earlier. She was amazing! He also raved about how brilliant The Good Wife is so I've warmed to him a bit!

Nyborg · 18/04/2015 21:29

Returning to the Gilbert Blythe discussion up thread, Jonathan Crombie has died. He was 48.

oneowlgirl · 18/04/2015 21:31

No way - how Nyborg?

Nyborg · 18/04/2015 22:54

A brain haemorrhage - it's terribly sad.

oneowlgirl · 18/04/2015 23:07

That is very sad.

TheOnlyOliviaMumsnet · 19/04/2015 17:36

When is the end of the series?
Did you just say that Gilbert Blythe died?!?!?!

oneowlgirl · 19/04/2015 18:11

Yes, there's another thread Olivia - very sad.

drinkscabinet · 19/04/2015 19:28

We're about half way rhrough the series Olivia, there are 22 episodes per series.

Duckdeamon · 19/04/2015 22:20

Yes, it's really sad Sad

OnlyLovers · 20/04/2015 10:27

That's sad news.

I have to ask though: which Good Wife character was he?

oneowlgirl · 20/04/2015 19:53

I couldn't tell which one he was either??

Howaboutthisone · 20/04/2015 22:22

I think someone mentioned that he was the Canadian customs/police man that Kalinda talked to on Skype and who sent the email that Kalinda then faked as read?

SpanishFly · 21/04/2015 17:12

I've just watched Thursday's episode. I don't get the fallout at all at the end. Diane and Cary were entitled to ask the question. And they were more than entitled to make an urgent decision worth millions when she was uncontactable.
However what I never understand in this programme is that there are friendships and allied relationships which all just go to pot at the drop of a hat. Alicia has supported Cary unwaveringly while he was in prison and she even tried to remortgage her house for bail money. So I can see why she was pissed off at his lack of support. And Diane was brought to the firm because Alicia wanted her - Cary was very much against her returning.
So I do understand why she looked hurt and offended. There is just no loyalty at all. They all gang up and start their own firm, then invite the other lawyers back. Then they backstab each other again. What exactly was achieved by Cary and Alicia leaving? Theyre back with Diane and David, who they wanted to get away from! They're even back in the same offices!

fascicle · 21/04/2015 19:36

Alicia's accusation might be unfounded but her ego is dented by the partners not taking her candidacy seriously and she is angry about being marginalised/not consulted in the decision to bring back slimy, obnoxious (but effective) David. And yes, perhaps disappointment after supporting Cary.

You are right, SpanishFly, loyalties and allegiances seem to change frequently. We haven't seen much of David lately - no doubt him joining the new firm will be good for storyline purposes. There seems to be a distinct lack of restrictive clauses in their contracts!

TheOnlyOliviaMumsnet · 21/04/2015 22:17

Yes I liked the kooky offices
Where have all the other partners gone?
The other Cary??

ClearlyMoo · 21/04/2015 23:04

Hello. Sorry late to the debrief this week. Just watched last Thursday:

DEBATE
Loved it. She was awesome against that journalist. I was also wig obsessed in that intense bit... That wig is awesome. The hair line. Awesome. Niles/ Prady does have some redeeming features in this. I can see why people mightfind him attractive.

I'm still recovering from the Jonny kiss last week tho. I thought their scene was good but there was not the time or place to discuss it tho.

PETER

::sigh:: he drives me mad. Go away annoying man.

FIRM SHENANIGANS.

boring. Boring. Recycling old plots. Give us some court cases.

INTRO
I need to read what the "this was written before x/y/z" thing disclaimer they had on at the start.

Travelledtheworld · 22/04/2015 04:22

clearlymoo I hate Peter and find him totally creepy. He's quite a big guy isn't he and very intimidating.
I cannot see why anyone would want to sleep with him unless they want to feel dominated by a powerful man.

Duckdeamon · 22/04/2015 07:28

Yes, hate the character, but he is just so well played by Chris Noth!

Duckdeamon · 22/04/2015 07:30

David Lee back Grin

I wonder how these firms survive financially when everyone is so busy with things other than doing paid work for clients! I liked the accountant aspiring lawyer man last season: he'd get them back to work!

OnlyLovers · 22/04/2015 09:48

Duck, yes, where's he gone? I loved him.

And, I keep saying this (sorry) but where's Diane's right-wing nutjob husband?

I think all the shifting loyalties and backbiting are supposed to be to show that life in law firms is in many ways just as tricky and lacking in principles and morals as the corrupt organisations the show looks at (police, politics).

It's a bit sad, but may well be accurate.

SpanishFly · 22/04/2015 15:36

Only havent you watched last week's? He's back.

OnlyLovers · 22/04/2015 15:54

Eh? Have I missed one?? The last one I saw was the debate, and ended with the argument we've been talking about between Alicia, Cary and Diane and I don't remember him in that.

My recording cut off just before the end, but I assumed it only cut off the last few seconds and that it ended with the argument.

Have I missed something? Is he in this one and I didn't see him? Confused

SpanishFly · 22/04/2015 16:05

Yep that's the one. He was the Chumhum bloke's ex wife's lawyer against Diane, and he won something like 75 million for the ex. As a result, Chumhum man sacked Diane as his lawyer. Diane and Cary came to the conclusion that the only option would be to offer David Lee a position as partner. That's why Alicia stormed into their office, to ask why she wasn't consulted
