Anyone watching?

OP posts:
DustBunnyFarmer · 13/04/2015 07:08

No spoilers please. We will not be amused. Quite a lot of people were spoiled for Will's death by careless online chatter and were really gutted. You could start a separate thread for folk who are ahead if you do want to chat about future episodes. Aside from that, welcome. Smile

dirtycarpet · 13/04/2015 07:42

Please don't worry, I wouldn't dream of writing spoilers. Smile

chanie44 · 13/04/2015 18:11

Mine wasn't a spoiler, it was me speculating on Kalinda's exit.

Howaboutthisone · 13/04/2015 18:59

I agree about no spoilers! I'm a real saddo and love for my weekly instalment so would hate for it to be ruined!

Yes that Irish bloke story was over pretty quick! I'd also like to see more of Robin- I was warming to her.

Howaboutthisone · 13/04/2015 19:01

Chanie I think its an interesting theory especially the bit about Alicia having to prosecute ref Kalinda.

Do you think Alicia will win SA?

OldRoan · 13/04/2015 19:10

Ahh, I didn't realise there was a thread!

Apologies if YouTube compilation clip thingy has already been shared - I've watched it far too many times today.

I don't think Alicia will be SA. I think the pissed-off-Alicia-in-court makes better TV than Alicia-who-gets-what-she-wants-even-with-a-fight. I'll be a bit annoyed if she gets it. I'm finding with this series that I either love an episode or feel intensely annoyed with how silly everyone is being.

chanie44 · 13/04/2015 20:03

I think Alicia will get the SA gig. I guess it's in order to keep the show fresh as it will be a new set of challenges for Alicia.

If I were writing the show:

Diane: give her a really meaty case, something she's really passionate about, that runs for the whole season.

Cary: becomes a single dad, following one of his one night stands when he was released from prison.

David lee/Louis canning - would love to see them in court against Alicia, using their underhand tactics.

Peter - loosing the governors election and having to rely on Alicia.

Bishop - a bit more of his illegal activities.

candykane25 · 13/04/2015 21:45

I think she'll be State Attorney. Then a whole new host of challenges will crop up.
But surely she can't be The Good Wife forever. So it may trigger a natural close to the programme.
:(

OnlyLovers · 14/04/2015 13:11

I really hope she doesn't get SA. I like seeing her at work and in court and I don't care if it means the show serves up more of the same.

I want more of Meryl Streep's daughter, Elsbeth, the cranky judges and Diane's gun nut husband (what HAPPENED to him?!). Also Alicia and Finn should get together. I don't think Johnny's hot at all; she and Finn have much more chemistry.

I don't give two hoots about the Cary and Kalinda relationship because I can't believe for a second that they care about each other: again, zero chemistry.

I also don't care about Lemond Bishop and his activities. He is so beautiful though that I don't mind too much if he stays. [magnanimous]

HalleLouja · 15/04/2015 22:12

I don't get the Jonny thing either.... It's all about Finn this season.

Yay to Cary getting free. I need to watch the last scenes again to figure out what the fuck happened. All got a bit confusing at the end.

HalleLouja · 15/04/2015 22:13

She did walk all over Peter. That was really funny. Shows what she is going to do when the campaign really starts.

Howaboutthisone · 16/04/2015 19:12

I'm more for Cary personally!

Looking forwards to tonight's episode!

northender · 16/04/2015 22:08

Wow, loved tonight's episode!

Howaboutthisone · 16/04/2015 22:23

Me too! Alicia was great in the informal debate! Interesting to see the change in dynamics with her and Diane.

Llareggub · 16/04/2015 22:44

Not quite sure why she lost her temper with Diane though. Diane would have asked the same question as a man. I think it is quite a legitimate question for Diane to ask. They've been carrying both Cary and Alicia lately while they go off and get prosecuted and political respectively!

DustBunnyFarmer · 16/04/2015 23:12

Interesting to see the change in dynamics with her and Diane.

And with Johnny. We thought the post debate eye-gazing scene was great. She said she didn't feel anything for him and he looked crushed. Then when she told him to look at her & hold her gaze, DH and I thought something stirred. We even rewound it to review the scene - it was that good. Great acting.

Howaboutthisone · 17/04/2015 06:25

Totally agree about the scene with Johnny. More to come on that one I think!

And I agree that Diane and Cary can legitimately have opinions on Alicia running. Diane does seem to have forgotten her fairly recent experience of nearly giving it all up to become a judge though!

DustBunnyFarmer · 17/04/2015 06:32

The other great thing about the Johnny & Alicia scene was Eli's daughter glancing over and, for want of a better phrase, pricking up her ears. It was all body language and slightly out of focus/shot, but unmistakeable. Like you say, more to come...

DustBunnyFarmer · 17/04/2015 06:37

Can you tell that I really want Alicia to find a good man who will treat her better than her shitbag husband? Even Will wasn't exclusive - he had a girfriend on the go for a while.

Oh yes, I thought Peter's grandstanding and overshadowing Alicia's big debate night was telling. He feels threatened by how she has blossomed and I think he will start to sabotage her campaign. She has outgrown him and is better, brighter and more principled.

Llareggub · 17/04/2015 07:16

Well, if she doesn't want Johnny I'll have him. ;-)

fascicle · 17/04/2015 13:53

I'm not sure I understand what Peter has done wrong, apart from timing/public awareness that he has been seeing another woman and that he could have been more honest and upfront about it with Alicia. But she's clearly beginning to entertain the thought of other men herself.

DustBunny I admire the detail of your observations Smile. I did feel sorry for poor Johnny when Alicia insisted that he look at her. Agree that there was a bit of a shift in her when he did.

I like the development of the relationship between Prady and Alicia - what they stand for, how far they can trust each other, the influence of their 'handlers' etc.

BuzzardBird · 17/04/2015 13:58

I hope Carey starts putting some weight back on now. I wonder if he lost so much weight for the storyline?

OnlyLovers · 17/04/2015 14:50

I'm relieved that others think Alicia losing her temper with Diane and Cary was odd. I didn't find it very credible at all; it DOESN'T have anything to do with gender and they would have asked the same thing of a man, if a man were running expressly to fight one candidate and then that other candidate dropped out.

I think Alicia is supposed to be becoming less 'good' and more of a ruthless politician. Which is fine as an idea, but if this is the way they're trying to portray it it isn't ringing particularly true to me.

I really don't want her to get together with Johnny. Bring back Finn!

Anyone else starting to slightly fancy Niles from Frasier? Just me? Blush

DustBunnyFarmer · 17/04/2015 17:50

I think Alicia is supposed to be becoming less 'good' and more of a ruthless politician.

I don't think its about goodness. I think she's stopped giving a fuck about anyone else thinks about her and it brings a confidence and strength she didn't have before. I like her better for it.

DustBunnyFarmer · 17/04/2015 17:52

Johnny, Finn, I'm not fussed. Alicia just deserves some bed fun.
