Lovely morning pictures, thank you icemist.

ILove, no real advice from me as not sure what I can offer, however I lost my mum and I did keep all my grief inside as I felt at the time u had to be strong for dad, my sister and my boys who where very close to their grandma. The outcome for me was it did come out in the end, had a tricky time and I did have to go down the route of tablets from the docs, which I didn't want, but they help. So I suppose what I'm saying is she needs to talk to someone. It sounds like you are the one. She is lucky to have you. With regard to the boss and work, I'm not sure. Sorry not great help. But talking is the key.
Good luck and hugs x x

Hello everyone. Just checking in. Really behind on my homework, loads of fanfiction to catch up on, though I did manage SPO's latest chapter which was very funny.
ilove that's a really difficult situation, I agree that your friend may feel betrayed if you mention it to your boss, so if you're able to provide the support it might be better if you give her all the help you can yourself. But if things worsen or you feel it's too much for you to deal with alone, then it might be worth trying to persuade her that it's better that someone else knows, even if it is you who speaks to the boss rather than her. Not easy, and best of luck with it all.
elsie I do envy your skills with all the soundbites! Just wondered if those of us with android phones have a way of downloading ringtones as well. I have no idea about this stuff so if it's too big an ask please don't worry. But I'd like to have CJ shouting at me when I get a text too!

pixieg1rl · 09/01/2015 11:25

I think we are missing the obvious sausage, surely he'd be a full bodied meaty and filling venison sausage.

Nickel45 · 09/01/2015 11:32

Of course, pixie!! Spot on!!!

Had to give myself a pat on the back this morning, bear grylls is in this month's gq. In uniform. It Sat in the trolley the whole way round sainsbury but I put it back. (I can nip back with my phone and take a pic another time!!!). So next time you shopping, worth having a look Blush

Ilovelblue · 09/01/2015 11:53

I've decided for the time being not to mention it to our boss. They are pretty good here about stress related things and exceptionally good over bereavements. We have an external agency - a bit like a helpline - you can ring at any point as well and I am sure they would put her on to a bereavement counsellor straight off. Dealing with death varies so much from person to person and there's no "normal" right or wrong way really, is there, to go about it. Have to say, she is the sort of person I expected to be able to handle it much better than she is doing but you can never tell what goes on in a person's mind. If I were to tell our manager, he is so caring that he would probably ring her immediately which would therefore betray the trust she has put in me so I am holding off for the moment. We are allowed a week's compassionate leave then anything else has to be covered by a sick note. If she has to go to the GP for that, surely he will see what sort of state she is in and recommend some sort of action.

elsie did you say you were going to do the ringtones for smartphones as well? If there's only me, the specific one I would like is "have some human decency and put some bloody effort in" please from the beginning of episode 3. I may need instructions as well if they differ from the iphones please.

elsie3g · 09/01/2015 12:11

Ilove sorry you're caught in the middle of things, it's hard to know what to do for the best. I'm possibly not all that qualified to pitch in, I think if it was me I'd just play it by ear in the short-term.

Android ringtones - it looks like for androids/other smartphones they just need to be mp3s, but they don't want to be to long, so that's what I'm doing next; creating little cut down versions of some of the main lines (in the same way I've done with the iphone ones).

Ilove will sort the 'put some bloody effort' one for you.

Firegirl and all other non-iphone owners please can you download this mp3 to your phone and set it as ringtone or a text alert. If it works ok, I'll sort out some more variations.

www.dropbox.com/s/4eilgxeysvxje8o/clip_what_have_we_just_learnt_ep1%20%28mp3cut.net%29.mp3?dl=0

Installing them on your phone looks to differ on each and every type of mobile, but in general somewhere on your phone there looks to be a Media folder, that should contain a further Ringtone folder into which you'll need to place the mp3, then you'll need to go back to settings to select it. But honestly I'm guessing here as I have an iphone.

If people get stuck just post me with the type of phone you have and I'll look each of them up.

Ilovelblue · 09/01/2015 12:25

Hi elsie - may have to wait till I get home or at least until this afternoon at work when there aren't many folk around. Many thanks! Will let you know how I get on.

elsie3g · 09/01/2015 12:34

No worries, I'm just at home briefly and checking in, no rush.

Had an eye appointment this morning with a rather dishy blonde public school type consultant (but not too posh)...no CJ though and a distinct lack of combats, grime and tan.

I'm sure I didn't used to go around lusting after random men before I joined mumsnet well not as much anyway!

I think a followup appointment maybe required...what a shame! Smile

firegirl · 09/01/2015 12:47

Thanks elsie, I have managed to download that clip but it's only 1 sec long, so when my phone rings, CJ only shouts "what have we just..." which is not quite the same! At least I know how to do it now so thanks, and the put some bloody effort in clip plays all the way so I'll have that one instead for now.

Onlygirljen · 09/01/2015 13:29

ilove yes I'm in central belt of Scotland, currently being battered by torrential wind and rain. Dreading trying to make my way home tonight.

Was up all bloody night with the storm, but on the positive side, managed to write the next chapter of fic Grin

Well done for being such a good friend. I don't have experience of losing a parent, but I did have the experience of mental health issues after birth of eldest in the form of severe PND. I would always encourage anybody suffering from these issues to seek help from their gp and/or a counsellor. I was lucky enough to have amazing help from both of those outlets, which was literally a life-saver. I hope things start to improve for her soon - having good friends like you can only help.

orphan · 09/01/2015 13:41

pixie you beat me to it. CJ is def a top drawer, delicious, low fat, versatile, good for you venison sausage. Mmm, my mouth is watering just at the thought.( And the venison was of course very well hung...)

ilove all I know is that even though my mother died many years ago, my sister is still having problems coming to terms with it. She didn't accept any help at the time and I feel the consequences of that resurface every now and again. I really hope your friend seeks help as not doing so can have long term effects.

elsie3g · 09/01/2015 13:49

Hi firegirl not sure what was going on with that mp3, have replaced with this one (should work) -

onlygirljen really looking forward to some more quality FF!!

orphan · 09/01/2015 13:50

onlygirl take care. Hope you have a safe and uneventful journey home.Smile

firegirl · 09/01/2015 14:42

elsie , yes that worked. Now he says the whole thing. Thanks!

Richtea19 · 09/01/2015 16:08

onlygirljen, take care getting home, and really looking forward to another chapter of FF!

Richtea19 · 09/01/2015 16:49

elsie I have succumbed and trying to sort out my ringtone. I actually want to do it for text alert and particularly want Stay alert stay focus stay alive. I have an Iphone. Would you be able to put the link on for that one? Sorry very, very non-technical here!!!

elsie3g · 09/01/2015 17:24

Richtea Try this:
www.dropbox.com/s/vuv4dfkxvddto6y/stayfaa%20%28mp3cut.net%29.m4r?dl=0

Instructions as follows for putting them on your phone

1 Connect your iPhone to your computer using the device's USB connector cable and launch iTunes if the application does not automatically start.

2 Click "File" in the menu bar of the iTunes application window and select "Add to Library."

3 Use the "Add to Library" dialog box to find the M4R that you want to transfer to your iPhone. The M4R file is located where you saved it on your computer.

4 Click the M4R file in the "Add to Library" dialog box and click the "Choose" button (it will be added to your music library).

5 Click "Tones" in the left side bar of iTunes (make sure our phone is connected via USB and you're now looking at the contents of your phone, not your itunes library on your mac/pc)

6 Click, drag and drop the M4R file from the "Tones" library window pane (on mac/pc) to the iPhone icon displayed in the left side bar. ITunes transfers the ringtone file to your iPhone.

Access the M4R ringtone file on your phone by going to "Settings," tapping "Sounds" and tapping "Ringtone." The M4R file is shown in the list of ringtones.

Shout if you get stuck.

orphan · 09/01/2015 17:39

nickel how have you got on with the birthday cake making? Hope you haven't got carried away and made a CJ (didn't someone threads ago, detail an edible CJ?) or a sausage?

Onlygirljen · 09/01/2015 18:05

Thanks everyone - got home eventually, but it was a bit hairy. Had to stay focussed, alive and alert!!

Now to batten down the hatches for storm night no 2, get a glass of wine in hand and upload. I hope you're not disappointed elsie and richtea - it's a bit filler so don't go in with high expectations!!

elsie I've done it! had a bit of help from DS too. I put the stayFSA one as ring tone, asked DH to call me to practice and he was horrible. Bloody OG was what I got from him. Maybe if I got a ring tone of "ManU 3-0 Up" he might be more pleasant to me.... But then when's that gonna happen!!!! Hah hah, me being mean now!

Richtea19 · 09/01/2015 18:32

apsara lovely example of low slung combats and cheeky bum... Lovely!

Richtea19 · 09/01/2015 18:51

onlygirljen bloody brilliant!!! I'm sorry that the storm kept you awake, but SO good for us. I am so drawn into this story, you are so very talented :)

Ilovelblue · 09/01/2015 19:00

elsie it worked! CJ can now wake me up in a morning. I couldn't stop laughing. Thank you so much.

Ilove's restaurant is open again tonight as friends coming round so will be checking in later tonight to see what the latest topic is. Looking forward to the ff as well.
