rhubarb my personal opinion as to your phone dilemma is that anything that remotely distracts you from writing the ff is not a good idea.

Hi all. Had a very strange day yesterday as I think my work friend whose Mum died at Christmas is on the verge of a breakdown. She has told me not to tell anyone but I think I should have a word with our boss. Does anyone have a view? Felt quite disturbed by it.

How sympathetic is your boss/company, ilove?

If they would be supportive then you could raise it with them saying you think she's struggling (maybe downplay it a little).

People are often very reluctant to talk to employers about mental illness because they think it somehow labels them incapable. If you think that your work would use it against her then I would say nothing but encourage her to seek help and be there as much as you can for her. I know that's not something you find easy given your own situation.

She is grieving, and that's a natural thing to do. It's difficult to say what is normal and what goes beyond normal, especially so soon. I think you should encourage her to find some proper grief counselling if she's starting to feel overwhelmed.

Ilove that's a tricky dilemma and I don't feel qualified to offer much, only to say tread very carefully as your friend could feel very betrayed if you divulge too much to the boss.

Me unqualified like woofwoof, but also really sorry for your friend, and hope she gets help before she really breaks down. A friend of mine went through similar experience and I could not spot the signals and it took him 3 months to get back to "normal", and many more years afterwards to put pieces together. He's a lot stronger now, but if I could have spared him the pain I'd have done it straight away.

I am still fighting a tummy bug, all this talking of pale, human sausages doesn't help ;-)

ilove that's a real toughy. It's brilliant that she's spoken to you though, is it worth suggesting she talks to her doctor, a local counsellor, or something? She might need someone to hold her hand though? If she didn't want to go to the doctor, a local church minister would have contacts, or do you know anyone at a local church? It's difficult at work, cos once you've told your boss, they will have to take to further, I think ... Not really sure how it would work ... Can she take some compassionate leave? Would that help? Sorry, I'm not being much help. Hugs to you x

Having a rethink on what kind of sausage CJ would be and decided he may not be taking the pork route. Indeed, after more extensive research of dvd, I think maybe the suntan and height makes him more of a beef Linked-Cumberland?
