I'm not into the Musketeers but it made me realise there are other TV threads on MN other than ours so I've just dipped into the Holby City one to see what goes on there. Oh dear, it's dull! I've been a fan of Holby ever since the first episode all those years ago but the storylines currently are really pathetic. Not impressed with the ramblings on that thread, definitely won't be joining. Mind you, they seem to agree with me that the storylines need pepping up a bit.

I suppose, like a few of you have said, I see you as my cyber friends now. We have an instant messaging system at work and I talk to people I am never likely to see, so this thread seemed like an extension of that really. I did find it easy to get into.

Onlygirljen · 05/01/2015 22:13

icemist I just watched with DH (who didn't watch the first series) and he managed to get into it (albeit with a bit of sideline commentary from me).
Think the itv website has a recap video of the first series for newbies.
Would definitely recommend it though, that's the way to start a second series!! TG take note..!

firegirl · 05/01/2015 22:16

I've just watched broadchurch tonight, icemist, having never seen it before. There's a lot going on but you can work out what's going on with most of the plot. (Needs concentration though, no multitasking on here while you try and catch up!)

Richtea19 · 05/01/2015 22:34

I watched Broadchurch tonight based on watching the first series. Like you onlygirljen I'm gripped already.

ilove I'm a massive Holby Fan, DH goes to football training on a Tues so it has always been perfect viewing, back from Anton Meyer being the rather suave consultant. But agree plot is a bit desperate at the moment. I liked it when Owen was in it.

Richtea19 · 05/01/2015 22:36

icemist and elsie what's a gif? Oh and I just looked on Twitter and yes, loads of mad women bombarding poor LT !

Ilovelblue · 05/01/2015 22:39

Richtea - oh, Owen was lovely. He could have attended to me any time he liked! I was also rather smitten with Sam Strachan. I quite liked the orthopaedic consultant at the time (who later became Major Beck) but that was before he decided he was gay. I can't be doing with Guy Self's daughter - can't believe she would still be allowed to practice with her medical problems. Truth be told, absolutely nothing on television at the moment can match up to OG. Guess what I am watching at the moment - the scene in CJ's cabin prior to Smurf interrupting them. Big sigh - just love it.

mummyreeds · 05/01/2015 22:41

Had just sat down to watch Broadchurch and phone went! Been looking forward to it all day! Have a soft spot for David Tenant, not on a par with CJ/BA, though. By time call had finished dh ready for bed so will have to wait until tomorrow. Used time to myself constructively reading ff and watching clips of OG on YouTube. I have the DVD but somehow CJ feels closer on my tablet.

orphan · 05/01/2015 22:43

onlygirl wow, what a finale! If only that was an special extra to view on the DVD...Wink

Oh ilove are you watching with head phones on so that you can hear the anguished "Molly"?

orphan · 05/01/2015 22:46

Have recorded Broadchurch, but didn't watch the first series (don't know went as I love a good thriller/crime drama). Hoping it won't make too much of a difference.

orphan · 05/01/2015 22:47

I meant 'don't know why of course.

elsie3g · 05/01/2015 22:54

•Richtea• its a series of still shots that when put together make a little animation/moving pic. Its just a silly tech term but it's like a flip book but for the web.

Onlygirljen · 05/01/2015 22:55

Thanks orphan! If you have any intention of catching up with series 1, then don't start 2 yet, as it makes it entirely clear who the killer was from the outset.

Just watched episode 4 as a last night of holiday treat. Not sure how I never noticed this before, but just caught the significance of the shot of CJ in the hideout just before smurf goes to talk to Molly. He is locking and loading the pistol that Molly later uses to shoot Badrai. If he hadn't done that, it all could have ended so differently! Fate indeed!

Ilovelblue · 05/01/2015 22:55

No headphones orphan sorry. Have skipped to the restaurant scene now. God, I know it word for word but I guess we all do by now.

icemist - flipped through the Q&A with TG from the FB Anonymous lot. The questions were pretty good really even though TG was suitably politician-like in most of his responses. Can't say any of my questions are deep and meaningful but how do these sound?

(a) Do you wish you had set the series maybe a year or so earlier? Having set it in the present day, and the troops having withdrawn from Afghanistan, there would be no chance of setting a possible second series there.

(b)Many of us agreed that there were a number of extra scenes we would have liked to see and that five episodes made it all seem rather rushed. We thought a sixth episode would have been ideal. Were you restricted to five parts from the BBC?

(c) How long did it take to film the scenes out in South Africa?

Nickel45 · 05/01/2015 23:02

Hi again mummyr, I have a soft spot for David tenant too :) watched him recently in that comic relief (?) thing with Catherine Tate, love the fact that he doesn't mind taking the rip out of himself!

How is everything going with you? Any news on your case? Hope you are ok.

elsie3g · 05/01/2015 23:05

Re. Q&A I always wondered how close they filmed it to the timeline of the OG story...if that makes sense! I think it's interesting to know, in that if it's filmed in sequence the cast are getting to know each other as it goes along and the emotions are are more realistic, i.e. they play along with the storyline and things are fresh and in the moment. But if it's shot completely out of sequence they end up kissing before the coca pops as it were!

orphan · 05/01/2015 23:07

Thanks for the tip onlygirl.

Those are great ilove. Such a shame we can't ask the really burning questions such as "What would CJ's naked wrestling signature move be?" or "Is he available to be measured? Soft tape only."

Nickel45 · 05/01/2015 23:09

I would like to ask TG if he ever reads any of the fan fic and whether he minds people using his characters in similar/follow-on/completely different stories, and does it make it more difficult if he then does get commissioned to write another series.
I wonder whether, if it did get to series 2, and there was something in the series similar to one of the ff's (not thinking of Involved, particularly!!!!!) whether it would be ok or whether TG has to ensure he doesn't follow a ff story ... Not sure if that makes sense?!
Just thinking, do you think he would want to use SPOs zombies for a comic relief spoof and would the CJ collective (well, SPO, seeing as he did all the work!) get royalties!

orphan · 05/01/2015 23:10

rhubarb just read your Perhaps story. You are such a talented writer. Smile

Nickel45 · 05/01/2015 23:11

Hee hee orphan ...good questions Grin

firegirl · 05/01/2015 23:14

onlygirl Bedtime reading of your last chapter. I was not disappointed, I love what you've done. QS excellent as usual, and I really liked your take on the kinders/molly Cyprus conversation. Left you a review (as a guest). Hope you're enjoying ep 4, it's one of my favourites, well they all are, in their own way. But I like seeing him with those gloves on when he's got his pistol in that scene you mentioned.
Does anyone think TG would answer if we asked him exactly where and how he would have had CJ and MD have their wait out conversation at end of ep 3 if he'd wanted that part show? Can't remember if he was asked that before.

orphan · 05/01/2015 23:15

I wonder what's happened to spo? He did hint at more zombie story lines up his (checked lumberjack) sleeve, so I'm really hoping for an update soon.

firegirl · 05/01/2015 23:16

"that part shown" I meant.

mummyreeds · 05/01/2015 23:20

Hi Nickel, it's all been a bit rubbish lately. First I found out I lost my appeal on the 19th Dec, then went to visit my dad for New Year and he ended up in hospital! He's really poorly but stable. Not the start to 2015 I would have chosen. I've now got to decide whether to go to tribunal. Meanwhile I have to start looking for a new job, haven't applied for one since I was 19! Too old to join the army I'm afraid and think DH and DS would be unimpressed. Maybe I could be PA for BA! In my dreams!

Nickel45 · 05/01/2015 23:36

mummyr that's crap, so sorry you lost your appeal, hard decision as to whether to go to tribunal :( is there someone who can advise you the best way to take it forward? And your dad not being well either. Really feel for you Sad. I hope your dad starts to improve soon. Virtual hug sent your way!

Any ideas for a new job? Would you stay with what you were doing before, or something completely different, army a bit drastic!!! PA to BA would be the nuts!!! :)

icemistOBE · 06/01/2015 07:14

Morning
That's awful mummy decision to take it tribunal is a massive one too. Massive hugs

Some great questions there. I do know that Bath was filmed in May as I asked TG that before.

I'll copy them later and maybe once everyone has had a think. I'll ask him. Worst he can say is no! He seems to answer lots of questions all the time anyway.
Back to school today- been ironing this morning and I realised after a few mins it was cooling down! So looks like I need a new one. Only had it since July, but typically have no receipt agh!!!!
