Oh dear. They clearly got out of bed the wrong side.

Been checking on the latest ff. Even more since I looked last night. I am rather liking Five Years On. Sure it's not one of us? The updates remind me of waiting for weekly instalments in magazines like Jackie 35 yrs ago but MUCH MUCH better!

Rhubarb01 · 05/01/2015 08:28

Oh my goodness Icemist I should think that lady might be removed from their Christmas card list this year! Perhaps taking it a little personally? I really don't like twitter.

cherin · 05/01/2015 08:41

I am not able to see the content of the links...maybe you need to have a twitter account to do so?
(I refuse- not really my thing. Too little characters for a verbose like me ;-)

icemistOBE · 05/01/2015 08:42

I know!

It is only A TV programme

"@benaldridge07 @DannyCohen @TonyGrounds is a busy man & still replies and other well known stars who respect their public! Remember ur roots"

The other one basically said that BA and Danny Cohen had their heads up their arses!

One way to get yourself blocked!

I imagine that the danger for well known people on twitter is that if you start replying, however briefly, you just get drawn into lots of conversations and there becomes an expectation that you will reply because the person feels they have 'relationship' with you. It must be an awkward tightrope. Keep people happy and be polite but keep your sanity too! Plus just imagine how much time would be involve? You know what it's like on here and we at least all feel free to go away and come back without causing any offence to anyone. Its probably safest to keep away from twitter or keep a policy of not replying to anyone you don't actually know!

orphan · 05/01/2015 08:59

Ludicrous! Glad we stick to Operation Bulge, fireside wrestling and stag art...

Oh and of course I need to add the absent but much missed spo / BA/TG (delete as required) and his Our Zombie Girl to the list.
Also, the CJ collective 'Those words we needed to hear'.Smile

Wow, this thread has been productive!

Beingfrank · 05/01/2015 09:19

Thanks for the summary, Orphan. I have a lot of reading to do!

I can just about keep on top of this thread, how on earth any of you find the time to write this amazing stuff is beyond me! I have just read the first two chapters of "another time" Rhubarb, and I'm loving it already. Total respect!

pixieg1rl · 05/01/2015 09:21

I generally like Twitter, but I don't follow a lot of celebrities. The people I 'know' on twitter are a mixture of those I follow for professional reasons (they are generally bloggers who write about the sector I work in), some from other chat areas, some are real life friends and others I know from stuff I'm involved in (local interests, parenting, breastfeeding support and hobbies).
My biggest fan girl moment on twitter is that I've had 2 replies from Armistead Maupin when I've mentioned loving his books. I've adored his writing since I was a teenager so I was really pleased that he took the time to respond.

pixieg1rl · 05/01/2015 09:24

Oh and Chris of Chris & Pui fame has sent some messages which is also lovely. I think most of my twitter 'celebrity' interaction has been cbeebies based.

Rhubarb01 · 05/01/2015 09:30

pixie I can understand the uses you've outlined and it seems like a fair balance and a good use. I suppose it depends on just how famous you are. As you say someone like Armistead Maupin probably isn't inundated day and night with people demanding responses so its nice to acknowledge good comments. I think if I was someone really famous I'd employ someone to do my tweeting for me. Do you think some of them do that anyway? I wonder if you could get a job as a twitter PR? Being thrust into the limelight must be quite unsettling if you've never had that that kind of attention before and don't necessarily have all the machinery in place to deal with it. Oh the perils and pitfalls of celebrity!!

And on that note I'm off to do some 'proper' work! Have a good day one and all.

Rhubarb01 · 05/01/2015 09:34

Just a quick postscript thinking of what I just said and not wanting to cause offence. Thanks beingfrank I appreciate it!

orphan · 05/01/2015 09:36

Just read your latest pixie. Fab! Reading it is like being Molly. I reread it immediately just to experience the rosabaya moment again...Smile I managed to leave a review in a slightly modified version of my name having finally (duhh) twigged that I could do that - it was spotting richtea's (hope it was her) modified name that gave me the light bulb moment.

Right, off to finish catching up with rhubarb's before attempting to get the children up. (Can't imagine how we're all going to cope tomorrow morning.)

Nickel45 · 05/01/2015 09:41

Oh for goodness sake, that's so ridiculous! Why on earth should they reply?!? I don't blame BA or anyone else for staying away from any social media. And tweets like that would confirm it!! What are they supposed to be replying to? Incessant call for a second series again? Sorry, but things like that really wind me up!!!!! Seems to me that BA doesn't really use twitter or Facebook to talk to hs mates, heaven knows why people he doesn't even know feel that he should respond to them! Idiots!!!!

And breath..... !!!

I hope everyone back at work today has fun, and appreciates the calm (if it is calm at work!). I have one more day before the kids go back to school, so am going to bundle them up and make them run around outside somewhere! Somewhere with a cafe!

I had a look at that couch to 5k thing last night. Does anyone know, do you have to download the podcasts or is there somewhere you can get it written out? It was just the reviews on there had lots of complaints about it crashing and not working properly?

Have a good day all x

Nickel45 · 05/01/2015 09:43

Sorry. That was probably a bit harsh ..... Can you tell I was up half the night! I'll go have some coffee now and come back in a better frame of mind!!!!

pixieg1rl · 05/01/2015 09:47

I'm sure there's a entire industry based on tweeting on behalf of celebrities/public persons. I would expect an agent to offer some support in that.

I don't think I'd like to be a celebrity at all. Social media can seem so invasive and gives the impression of an immediate personal contact which is just an illusion.

With maybe one or 2 exceptions over only come across friendly people on social media. Statistically speaking some of those won't have been genuine like people posing as something they aren't, but I've also seen some lovely things happen via social media.

icemistOBE · 05/01/2015 09:52

That's exactly what I thought nickel it's blatantly obvious BA hardly uses Twitter. So what if Danny Cohen tweets about football and not OG - it's his personal account!
Grr... It's infuriating. Of course we'd love if BA would tweet but 3months after a show was broadcast, why should he tweet about it. It was a job and he's finished it. I don't tweet about the last job I had so why should he?

OP posts:
icemistOBE · 05/01/2015 09:57

Judging by celeb tweets- they are either done by their agency/PA or themselves. Ones who tweet themselves either tweet everything, retweet the many 'help this child/lost pet' or make a complete tit of themselves!

OP posts:
Nickel45 · 05/01/2015 09:59

Ditto icemist! :)
Thank you ... I was thinking I'd been a bit harsh, and you'd all think i was completely nuts, but that sort of attitude really does annoy me!

cjwoofwoof · 05/01/2015 10:04

FINALLY!! Kids back at school, DH back to work, dog walked, now I can get on with indulging myself with full on CJ best bits housework, washing, clearing Xmas stuff away, shopping before work tomorrow. Just spotted a highlight I missed in Ep 1 with the "stay focussed" speech before first patrol. Legs akimbo, gloves, rifle slung, headset, stern face, helmet under arm, the full works....ooh! I'm back totally re-compressed. Lovely!!

Richtea19 · 05/01/2015 10:08

How rude those Twitter people are. BA isn't contracted to answer her tweets or anyone else's. She needs to lighten up and concentrate on more important things like Operation Bulge, who would be best at fireside wrestling? And that Kinda thing!

Managed an early bird spin class, quick caffeine shot! And then off to combat and pump. I will be asleep at lunchtime!! Have I missed something about couch to 5k? Will read back as sounds interesting.

cjwoofwoof · 05/01/2015 10:11

Ditto icemist and Nickel I actually think it a bit weird having a cyber conversation with people you don't know, why would you? I mean I'd never spill my innermost cougar-fied lusty thoughts for a fictional character with total strangers in a cyber chat, that would be absurd.
