cherin now I am thinking of what I can do with Molly and a pot of Nuttella.....Oh dear I think I need a lay down.

orphan · 07/12/2014 15:42

CJ would make even the most mundane task far more interesting. As for arguments, I bet they'd be the sort that only occur in films and books, you know the ones that lead to M rated making up... As opposed to my RL ones which just lead to sulks.

orphan · 07/12/2014 15:46

Not keen on nutella (think I overdosed as a child on holiday in Italy) so would have to be crunchy peanut butter and CJ. Glad I'm not allergic to nuts!!!Xmas Wink

Rhubarb01 · 07/12/2014 15:59

Just back from a lovely long walk with DD and the dog all through the woods which conveniently end next to a Waitrose. Thinking lovely thoughts about getting back and having a hot drink and Sunday afternoon treat by the fire so popped in to buy some naughty cakes urged on by DD, of course. Got back after long bracing winter afternoon walk thinking of the lovely cosy scene (CJ inspired here after everyone else's muses). Made some tea and told DH I've got you a nice cake. Response was disinterested "Why?". Shattered illusions!

By the way if anyone remembers way back on possibly last thread or the one before - DH still working through episodes of "House" and must be on episode 57 or something by now. If Molly is ever in doubt about what's wrong with her patients just tell her to do a lumber puncture as it appears to be the answer to everything!

Richtea19 · 07/12/2014 16:08

nickel. Never too early... You're on a roll though, hang over cure?

Peanut butter, yum. I don't buy it any more as I used to smother a crust of bread with it and then put more salt on top. Too bad!!! Mind you anything is possible with CJ.

DH just gone out for a run, just to get out the house I suspect. Anyway back to pouring that wine. nickel said it was ok :)

Richtea19 · 07/12/2014 16:09

Yes I remember the discussions about House. All those American shows are so time consuming. Mmwe watched the whole of Breaking Bad in two months. Then started House of Cards, but gave up during the summer months. I'm not interested any more though!

pixieg1rl · 07/12/2014 16:17

Got home to find DH had packed the DVDs. PANIC! Thankfully he kept the copy of OG out, I suspect he thought I'd want to watch it in the next week. Phew.

pixieg1rl · 07/12/2014 16:19

This talk of peanut butter is torture. DS is allergic so I've been without pb for 3 years. God I miss it.

icemist · 07/12/2014 16:29

Back from mission IKEA: mission accomplished Smile one new set of table and chairs purchased. Old ones taken to dump- new ones still at flat pack stage

Richtea19 · 07/12/2014 16:35

Well done icemist you survived the mission. Mission briefing - did you have meat balls for lunch?, buy any stag related items?, or anything that at the time you thought you couldn't live without? I can remember when they extended their opening hours and served wine etc, people said it was a pick up joint!!

I've just been reading more fan Fic and CJ collective is SO good compared to others, (other than Klipdoctor, he rocks too!)

pixie. Good luck with your packing.

Ilovelblue · 07/12/2014 17:07

Damn you lot AGAIN. I've been thinking about my part of the next literary mission. I'm sure I was talking it through out loud on my walk earlier. Need to write it out whilst it's clear in my mind. It's still going to take me a while because I have to re-watch episode 2 again. I've started to watch the first episode just now. It makes me laugh when CJ says "What have we just learned?"

My answer to this would be:

  1. It is just as acceptable to have a menopausal crush as it is a teenage hormonal one.
  2. I discovered this group of like minded (equally mad) individuals and am finding it great fun as well as a form of escapism. I've never been on forums really until the arrival of OG and CJ/BA.
  3. It's safer having this menopausal crush because you absolutely know nothing can come of it, unlike as a teenager when you think you may end up marrying the object of your desires. (Even better, the crush is on a fictional character, not even a real person).
  4. Less than two months ago, I had never heard of fanfiction and now I have not only done some creative writing (in partnership with a very inspirational team) which hasn't been unleashed for over 20 years, but it has been published.
  5. You are all such a great bunch that we can share non OG related problems and get some really good advice.

Just had to share that with you!

apsara03 · 07/12/2014 17:21

Hope everyone has had a good weekend. Decorations nearly up here. Photo if product of yesterday's baking -don't think I've ever taken so much care over a biscuit!!
Got rumbled giggling over SPO's Nutella comment

Nickel45 · 07/12/2014 17:38

I am 100% with you on that ilove.

Good to hear you have all come through your missions unscathed today! I have just been helping at a 7 year olds party and was so proud of my two, who were (for once) well behaved. Not drinking tonight ... Since feeling like a complete alkie on here! Would you believe, I haven't had a proper drink since before my first one was born nearly 8 years ago! And now two nights in one week ... ! Still amazed I wasn't hung over at all, must be one of the benefits of getting older?! Mind, that'll probably be it till next Christmas now!! But was fun! Right, off to sort dinner, kids homework done, bath and bed ... early ... I'm in need of some r&r!!

icemist · 07/12/2014 17:39

Meatballs for lunch. Saw a few stag items- none purchased. Managed not too buy anything we didn't need apart from a play mat for boys for Xmas

Hubby rather impressed and saw lots he wanted in kids section.

What have we learnt?

It's ok to have a crush at 40.
Even better it's ok to have said crush on a fictional character
Learnt all about fan fiction and tumblr (get all my best screenshots from there)
I have posted on a forum regularly before but not mums-net
It's ok to send a letter to the actor of said character in the hope he might sign a photo of himself as that character (if he ever gets back from Canada)

OP posts:
Richtea19 · 07/12/2014 18:05

I've just read that Jamie Dornan is in Canada shooting a film, so why can't we find out what BA is up to????

What we have learnt:

I have never posted on an Internet site before this and have found it both addictive and rewarding.
I feel younger than ever, at the age of 47 having a crush on a man young enough to be my son, ish.
I have learnt about IT stuff, Tumlbr and Instagram
I have met a stranger from online in RL, and she wasn't a serial killer! (Actually bloody lovely and very like minded!)
I have met a fabulous bunch of new friends who like me; are rather crazy and loving.

Feeling rather emotional now!!

orphan · 07/12/2014 18:09

richtea IKEA possible pickup joint? Well, I suppose the names of some of the items do sound like exotic sex positions...eg have you tried färglav, it really hits the spot.

orphan · 07/12/2014 18:21

What have we learnt?

It's possible to find someone even more attractive than Richard Armitage and Viggo (The Raisin) Mortensen.
It's even possible to have a crush on a stag (wearing combats and swinging a mic)
It's possible to win most frequent poster of the week award, despite never ever having posted on a forum before this.
It's possible to look like you're catching up on world news on your tablet but actually be reading and posting on this thread.
It's possible to find lots of like minded nutters.Xmas Smile

apsara03 · 07/12/2014 19:30

What have we learnt?
shopping is much more fun when on a mission for stag relates merchandise
you are never alone - I wasn't the only person feeling I was having a mid life crisis brought on my TV programme
I try a lot harder at the gym imagining a certain captain is telling me to dig I'm
giggling away at comments on a forum written by a bunch of like minded nutters wonderful people is good for the soul.
Thank you. I truly feel alive at the moment

Nickel45 · 07/12/2014 19:33

What have we learnt? Good question!

  • That five hours of a tv program can inspire you to change things in your life, give you new friends and help you gain new skills.
  • It's ok, and maybe even preferable, to spend the majority of your day thinking about a fictional character, rather than what you are supposed to be thinking about.
  • It's remarkably easy to cover up the fact that you aren't thinking about what you are supposed to be thinking about.
  • It's possible to become friends with people you don't even know.
  • Having never ever even thought about reading, let alone posting, in a forum, it's really, really fun (although, I think this is an exceptional group!)
Ilovelblue · 07/12/2014 19:40

SPO weren't you going to do a "round-up" festive edition of our threads? (Er if you do, good luck with that). You could definitely include a "lessons learned" from these posts just above. We are very fond of lessons learned workshops in my company. Maybe because we seem to screw up quite a bit!

Nickel I loved this one of yours: It's remarkably easy to cover up the fact that you aren't thinking about what you are supposed to be thinking about. I reckon we can all go with that.

Richtea I reckon BA has been ordered to go to ground because his agent will have told him about us, lurking with tape measures, stag pants and heaven knows what else.

I am on with the Molly side of the Bashira and the suicide vest scenes. I SOOOOOOOOOOOOOO should be doing other things, but nowhere near as interesting. Still going to take me a few days though.

SPOfficer · 07/12/2014 19:43

What have we learned?

That there is more to life than work
That it's never to late to get fit
That zombies can be fun
That Nuttella can be erotic
That you can construct a replica military check point out of soft toys
That having a crush on a fictional character can make you appreciate your life partner even more
That blue lumberjack shirts are cool
That netmums is a pretty good place for dads as well
That limericks in the right hands can be very funny
That at the end of the day life is for living so get on with it!

icemist · 07/12/2014 20:22

I thanked kipdoctor for his inspiration at the end of 'These Words...' he's sent us the following message

"Just wanted to say I'm really enjoying Those Words we Needed to Hear and to thank you for your kind words at the end of Chapter 4.

It is strange (but really nice) to think of inspiring anybody...at the end of the day we have all been inspired by amazing characters created by Tony Grounds and brought to life by Lacey Turner, Ben Aldridge, Iwan Rheon and the rest of the cast. I know from when I used to read your thread regularly (am afraid I don't have time these days) that many of us have been inspired by this series, all of us in different ways. I certainly have never had this sort of reaction to a TV series before and I think it has shocked many of us. I guess it is probably similar to the sort of reaction to the original Star Trek series and those fans successfully managed to persuade the broadcasters to make another series. I hope we are that successful! Here's hoping!

Thanks again"

and this ''Just read this from start to finish. Just what was missing from the series. The BBC should employ you to write the next series. Hard to believe it's been done by a group of writers!''

we wish we were the writers!! most US series are written by a group of writers, UK is unusual in that its often just one

OP posts:
icemist · 07/12/2014 20:25

and I love this one ''My wife told me to read this so I appreciate our girl a little better.
I found it both funny and well written. A pleasant change fron all the sloppy stuff I have had to endure.
Please write more. Just to keep my wife off my back''

if any are from people on here let me know :)
