My mind is boggling at

'the peasants can't afford their child anymore, can I have her instead and bring her up as my own at Downton?'

'Okay then'

I think she means " can the nanny bring her up ? "

As far as I can see they only see the children for 30 mins each day before dinner

I don't even know who maid madge is

Thank you millimat. I thought I was the only one. Two people called Madge and Lily popped up in the last episode. Who are these people?

I bet there will be a replacement Labrador puppy soon called Ptolemy or Cleo.

Or Anubis, which sounds slightly fruity.

When the Merton boy who hadn't left the dinner said to Isobel "Well you didn't expect us to welcome you with open arms" I wish she or someone had said "no, but I/we did expect you to be civil"

She's not going to marry him, is she?

And good grief, how old are they?

It's not as if she'll be mothering them at all!

And when not Larry said "come on Papa, Larry has been sitting in the car since dinner" I don't get why Merton didn't say anything.

And then saying that they are just like their mum.

If she doesn't marry him, won't it be because he doesn't come across very well in those situations?

Thanks for explaining the platform thing seasalt.

I wanna know why they've brought in the fabulous Sue Johnstone and then forgotten all about her after only one scene last week!!

Wish Edith could have stayed in London, instead of going back to downton with her tail between her legs.
Mr bates and anna are being so mean, don't like them anymore. And of course theres something wrong, they've been married years with no pitter patter of tiny feet

So is it Rose's wedding next week?

Will there be another series?

Oh yes the Bates!
It's obvs all his fault for buying the stuffing ticket!
And yes, how long have they been married?
And no kids with the first Mrs Bates?

I agree that Lord Merton should have been more forceful with his sons but I think in reality their views would have been made clear to their father long before the announcement dinner.

I think Rose's wedding will be the Christmas special with Clooney being a long lost someone or other.

Agree that the Bates' have become very cold.

I was thinking Roses wedding next week as her parents are there, but I guess that they would come over when she tells them that she's engaged?
So is there a wedding next week or did I imagine a wedding cake?

Will there be another series?

The problem is that at the rate they are cracking through the years by the end of another series the Abbey will be replaced by a national trust gift shop.

Won't Edith sod off to Boston with Tom (not with him in the conjugal sense, just with him for a new start in life).

Me too.

As for the train platform thing, there is only one platform at the station in my parents village and you can get a London train from there.
Also this was before the Beeching closures.

I don't think Dicky Merton is terribly fond of his sons - he says they are like their mother, and he's indicated before that they didn't get on and should not have stayed together Sad

I want Isabel to be happy - and he's lovely. Hope they sort it out...

I'm loving the frocks and hats in this series.

I was thinking that with all the staff seeming to have property plans are we heading towards the end of the "big house"?

Report
LittleBearPad · 03/11/2014 21:25

There were quite a lot of 'big scenes' left out of last night. All the juicy stuff was referred to as happening off screen.

cheapskatemum · 03/11/2014 21:37

Lol at the National Trust gift shop idea, Pipbin. George, Sybbie and Marigold, as OAPs, could run it. The storylines would be much more exciting and I'm hoping there will be another series now, thanks!

Ooh ooh, if Sprat leaves then Mr Mosley can be the Dowager's Butler!

I'd love it if Mr Mosley rose through the ranks again.

There is supposed to be a twist in the murder story. I was wondering if Bates could have bought two tickets and meant to keep one as an alibi?
