Nicely done icemist!

Smurf's mum thinks it's smurf she's crying for, I think!

Candypop7 · 27/10/2014 14:27

Another closet OG fan here! Have loved the threads over last 10 days- such talented ladies out there, haven't laughed so much for ages. Was convinced this obsession was a brain disorder-CJ Syndrome, but now wondering if I'm obsessed with this thread instead? Any neurologists on the group?

Spotted Mrs Smurf on Dr Who Sat night and wondering whether to suggest song 'Valerie' to Strictly as future quickstep option? CJ can dance too, can't he?

snumpy · 27/10/2014 14:31

I've followed this thread from the start and have really loved the series. I have the episodes on iplayer, read the scripts and read the fan fiction thanks to all your links. Only thing I haven't got is the music but don't have a clue about spotify. Trying to work out whether to download the series from the iTunes Store or order the DVD.

I'm going to go against the grain here and say I don't want a new series. This one finished just how I wanted it. I always wanted Molly and CJ to get together. Would have liked Smurf not to die, but if it came down to either him or CJ then the right decision was made!

The reason why I don't want another series is that Molly and CJ might not be this lucky again, real life might get in the way. How will CJ cope being a civvie and Molly still in the army. A very big part of the attraction was that they were doing something they shouldn't - sly glances and pushing boundaries in the one arena it was forbidden to do and I feel that that 'naughtiness' for want of a better word won't be there.

Please don't flame me - I want Molly and CJ to be together forever but fear that another series could spoil that, even if it means there would be no more of the absolutely gorgeous specimen that is Captain James. I would love to hear how you think a second series would keep their attraction alive.

I haven't felt this way about a TV series for a very long time Blush

snumpy · 27/10/2014 14:37

Ooh, nice one icemist Grin

I have a feeling you might be given a long list of questions to tweet him
with Smile

lyndie · 27/10/2014 14:41

Snumpy I think a few of us have felt the same, maybe it's best to keep it at one series but I would still love a fix of Series 2!

Excellent Twitter work!

BrodiesBabe · 27/10/2014 14:45

Ha! I am p*ing myself laughing at all of us and our desires and dreams and insecurities! We're all the same and it is so bloody refreshing!

Love the fact that we are desperate for contact and then when we get some we get freaked out that someone actually associated with the show finds out. I'm exactly like that too.

Welcome Snumpy. Smile I understand entirely about your fears for a second series. Those are all really valid points which many of us share. But our all consuming lust for CJ tends to override our concerns of plot!!! If they do another series, I think they'd have to give a nod to the wishes of their viewers by not giving CJ and Molly too hard a time. Tony Grounds is a clever boy. I'm sure he can come up with a few satisfactory ideas. Wink He can always ask us!!

icemist - I bow down!!! That is fantastic. Smile I think we should drop in a few surreptitious queries from now on, here and there, specific and intelligent. He loves it really. Wink

Been meaning to comment on Awkward Funeral Scene for a while and keep getting distracted. I think basically Smurf had just died and they were all in shock. I suppose even 'I don't know how I can keep my hands off you' Dawes and 'Ditto' James had too much of a shock even for their libidos at that point. It threw them all, and they couldn't show too much affection in a full church.

BrodiesBabe · 27/10/2014 15:00

And hello candypop7!! Sorry to miss you just then. Smile

Ilovelblue · 27/10/2014 15:27

OMG. Ben/CJ on Strictly. That would be all my birthdays coming at once! Will have to reply to everything else from home later......

ihearttc · 27/10/2014 16:12

OMG icemist Im in shock that he replied!! That is fantastic Twitter work...I think you definitely get Head Girl Status today! Im wondering then if they did it like to deliberately leave it so there could be a second series if viewing figures were good because if not it would have made more sense to leave it as it was. Crikey thats a very rambling sentence-hope you get what I mean.

I actually think it'd be really good for him to read this thread because I would say that 90% of it is actually about the plot and storyline (and the other 10% about how much we are drooling over CJ). It can only be good for scriptwriters to see how much their work affects people.

I would imagine that most of the other stuff they are reading about Our Girl is about how gorgeous CJ/Ben is whereas we are all having a really intellectual conversation about everything in the series.

I might pluck up enough courage to ask a question now on Twitter...just need to think of one!

ihearttc · 27/10/2014 16:22

Please tell me that the person who has just asked him another question is one of us?? Thats a brilliant question!

ihearttc · 27/10/2014 16:29

icemist

Im actually wondering if he knew what you were getting at with that question? You didn't ask if it was filmed near transmission you just asked if it was filmed at a different time but he replied that it was filmed a long time before transmission.

Rhubarb01 · 27/10/2014 16:30

I can't help feeling there is probably a comedy drama in this thread alone given the way it has moved from humorous obsessing, to comedy, self-analysis, philosophy about the meaning of life and emotional turmoil. At times it has reminded me of Bridget Jones Diary (the novel rather than the film) where she and her friends become totally obsessed with Mr Darcy/Colin Firth to the point where the lines between the two become blurred resulting in Bridget finally getting the opportunity to interview Colin Firth (The Edge of Reason) and making the biggest hash of an interview ever seen in print. Food for thought. Perhaps if Tony Grounds is looking for a new project, obviously after completing the second series of Our Girl!

furcoatbigknickers · 27/10/2014 17:00

Love the suggestion of Ben on strictly.... Eyecandy galoreWink However, what if our bubble is burst after all as gorgeus as hes he isnt our CJSad

Candypop7 · 27/10/2014 17:11

Rhubarb so agree about the blurring of fact and fiction- all the news today about withdrawal of troops from Afghanistan and how many hundreds of schools are still closed- didn't have enough two sections obviously!
Also I practically ran up to an unsuspecting TA cadet in fatigues on Saturday to buy a poppy- not sure I would have done that pre-OG.

ihearttc · 27/10/2014 17:12

My last celeb crush went on Strictly and actually won it-Tom Chambers.

Ive actually met him and he is really lovely and completely genuine.

Ive just been very brave and done my first ever tweet...wonder if he will reply!

Richtea19 · 27/10/2014 17:59

Icemist: your are a legend! Definite head girl status. I am scared at the prospect of him reading our threads though!
Ruhbarb: we do manage to cover so many subjects and have been analysing our lives due to the effect of OG. It's wonderful therapy, and such fun too!

icemist · 27/10/2014 18:12

Thank you all!

Lot of producers and writers will reply if you ask questions. Pity the actual actors don't but hey ho.
Listening to soundtrack again... Need to study episode 2 this evening if I get chance.

lyndie · 27/10/2014 18:31

This a great blog I am reading about basic army training a la Molly in the pilot episode.

Oh that's a lovely picture... Might need to follow him as well!

mandy214 · 27/10/2014 20:01

Iheart you obviously meant you might gonna need to follow him Smile.

There is another photo on Tony Grounds' Twitter of some of 2 Section presumably when they filmed the funeral but no sign of Molly or Capt James.

icemist I can see your tweet on Twitter (I'm following Tonny Grounds) and I love that you said words to the effect that we were having a "chat" on Mumsnet (and didn't say it was a 35 page thread where we'd dissected every look, phrase, scene, storyline of the series Grin).

Personally, I would hate to see CJ/BA on Strictly! I do like the show, but the thought of CJ swapping his combats for lycra - no, no, no Angry. Bring back Vincent and Flavia, but leave Capt James out of it!

Funeral question - I will respond to today's homework question in a short while damn work and children

BrodiesBabe · 27/10/2014 20:07

I know that it's all just pally stuff and they're not in character etc etc etc but I really love the way Ben's got his hand on Lacey's shoulder in that photo above. Just makes me want to sigh happily.

icemist · 27/10/2014 20:15

its the 140 character limit!! wanted to say more and yeah 'chat' sounded lot better than indepth discussion lol! although he did favourite my response! and hopefully he hasnt checked and realised our 'chat' is mainly about CJ/BA
My tweet was picked up and is now on tumblr too...need to go and check what photos have been put on today

ihearttc · 27/10/2014 20:15

I love that as well in the picture!

I saw the other picture of Section 2 on there-is it when they are all standing funny?
