Nappy That is both brilliant and hilarious.

I will ponder upon todays homework. But have to say the sample female viewer sat on my sofa me has a big softspot for when Capt James is holding Mollies face in that scene. However I do agree with the theory that Capt James hotness levels are generally related to levels of stubble and grubbiness. Not so keen on him in the restaurant scene or the funeral, too shaven and clean. I think the hospital scene can be an exception to the rule in this case due to the expression on his face, (works for me anyway Wink)

The mum cure isn't going to work for me, I'm only 7 years older...

BrodiesBabe · 22/10/2014 11:46

NappyValleyMum - (posted last post before reading yours) ...

Grin Grin Grin Grin Grin Grin Grin Hahahahahahahaha!!

I thought I was obsessed ...??? Wink

I haven't been quite aware of these subtle differences so there is only one thing to do really, isn't there? Off to iPlayer I go!! No rest for the wicked.

You get an A*, by the way, for your analysis. Wink

ihearttc · 22/10/2014 11:57

Smurfingreat...I saw that video earlier. I actually think it's probably the best one yet!

And yes I completely agree on the differences- think that's why I find the scenes in afghan much much sexier than the other ones

BrodiesBabe · 22/10/2014 12:18

A response to NappyValley's discussion topic ...

I find that my usual verbosity has been cut off in favour of taking screen shots - excuse quality. Although, I can concur that there are subtle differences in facial hair/grooming and overall sexy dustiness, this viewer concludes that the level of sheer phwoarability this man brings out in her is still at epic levels throughout the scene. In fact, the moment when he holds Molly's face and gazes down at her is probably the time of maximum hormonal overload.

This viewer will even go so far as to mention that she had a belly rippling moment of delight when he stepped back and scratched his head when Sohail's bed is pulled away. Poor quality but still worthy screenshots attached for evidence. Wink

For those that use Spotify there are quite a few Our Girl soundtrack playlists with most of the songs from the series - good background music when you are unavoidably unable to actually watch!

Smurfingreat · 22/10/2014 12:57

In addition to NappyValleys brilliant and well researched argument submitted for todays homework, I would like to pose an additional theory. Capt James smouldering gorgeousness can be seen to directly correlate to whether or not he has his sleeves rolled up. Obviously scenes where no top is in evidence are a total bonus should not be taken into account, so as not to distort the data set. Discuss...

BiddyPop · 22/10/2014 13:21

I'll have to find it somewhere !! (Can't watch iPlayer here - but I'm sure DH has a way around that)

ihearttc · 22/10/2014 13:24

Can you watch youtube-they are all on there if that helps...with loads of other videos from Our Girl which I highly recommend watching as well!

BrodiesBabe · 22/10/2014 13:47

Smurfingreat YES!!! Rolled up sleeves!! A sure fire way for most men to increase their attractiveness, but in the case of a certain captain ... will result in explosion of libidos from all female (and probably a few male) observers.

BrodiesBabe · 22/10/2014 13:49

And yet another.

Theory 3: Direct correlation of said captain's gorgeousness and his stance or posture. Best evidenced by gorgeousness overload when standing feet braced some distance apart, arms crossed, with commanding frown about to issue an order or reprimand.

HappyNap · 22/10/2014 14:11

This is turning into a major obsession for me. Thankfully I'm younger than him, but still! I think it's time to block the thread as I can't keep watching the episodes over and over again! ShockWink

cherin · 22/10/2014 14:17

Rolled sleeves- works for most men. They should stop selling cuff links altogether and the western world population would see another spike in birth figures.

My theory is that TAN does have a big role (and/or face paint). When in ep4 he gets into the bunker with his hands and beauuuutifullll wrists dangling from to the top of the vest...all dirty and dark...
....

PassTheCremeEggs · 22/10/2014 14:18

And his hands...his hands! has anyone ever seen a man with such beautiful hands??

God I'm going mad!

PassTheCremeEggs · 22/10/2014 14:19

Whoops italics fail there!

Anyway, episode 1, blister scene...he's already smitten! He goes from hate to love in half an episode ;-) that's the effect of intelligent, inquisitive ladies on men!

Jusi · 22/10/2014 14:35

Thank goodness I've found you ladies! I also have an unhealthy obsession over CJ/Bossman (can't bear to call him Charles) and haven't been on Mumsnet for ages and then to find a discussion dedicated to him has made my week! I can't talk about it to anybody else as they don't seem to understand (I'm also starting to have similar feelings about the vicar in Grantchester). Hubbie is away and sod The Apprentice, I'm going to hit the IPlayer and lust after CJ.

LaundryFairy · 22/10/2014 14:54

If anyone is interested (in the midst of all the CJ lust) Iwan Rheon, who was Smurf, also has a pretty significant role in Game of Thrones as Ramsay Snow. Be warned though that his character appears in some petty horrific scenes (torture and the like - I had to hide under a blanket).

LeBearPolar · 22/10/2014 15:08

Very late to this thread but loving it. Would like to offer up for comment the observation that there is something unbelievably sexy about the scene in Ep. 3 where he barges into her tent when she's drying her hair with her back to him and he hesitates and then half turns away as if he's walked in on her naked - such a gentleman in contrast to all the other lads who would have made some raucous comments no doubt.

furcoatbigknickers · 22/10/2014 15:43

Just checking in for my fix. Back when I've had an eyeful of my CharlieWink

Bellini12 · 22/10/2014 15:53

Without a shadow of a doubt he's definitely at maximum sexiness in army fatigues, sleeves rolled up, stubble and covered in Afghan dirt. I especially like it when his helmet is off and he just has the comms band thingy on his head.

To echo my fellow CJ lovers, I don't believe I have ever felt compelled to leave multiple messages on a board like this before. I think I'm just yearning some escapism and have to keep telling myself to get a grip as it's NOT REAL and even if it was it would never happen to me!

furcoatbigknickers · 22/10/2014 16:02

Just been watching vids of cj and molly on youtube, those brown eyes say alot of dirty things

furcoatbigknickers · 22/10/2014 16:06

I almost think im going mad on here with my Charlie obsession... Until i come on here. You are all crazy.Grin

Paperbackwriter1 · 22/10/2014 16:49

Have been following this thread with delight and amusement. Does anyone remember the furore following Richard Armitage's appearance as John Thornton in North and South in 2004 - almost exactly 10 years ago? Back then there were few Internet forums, no Twitter, tumblr or Facebook -was there a Mum'snet? I can't remember - there was only the BBC Drama messageboard and obscure Yahoo groups and we used these to share our obsession. Well, this mania for the delicious Captain James is just like that only now it's far easier to share the love and dar I say it, I find Captain James even more appealing. Following N&S, a few women of all ages started writing fanfic - none of us had ever evenknew it existed - and about half a dozen of us have now gone onto to be published by major publishers, in contemporary and historical romance. John Thornton was the sole reason for that and I hope Captain James has the same effect. Please be kind to the fanfic writers as the vast majority of it is written for pure love by people who are testing and developing their first writing efforts in an anonymous setting. Keep up the photos, and the thuds and drool, it's a great distraction. Am still friends with the women I met on those initial groups, and we have our 10th anniversary party next month. I hope Ben/James has the same effect!

Paperbackwriter1 · 22/10/2014 16:49

Sorry for the typos. Am over excited.
