Thanks for the link TS very juicy Grin

PolkadotsAndMoonbeams · 17/09/2014 07:44

I quite enjoyed it, the clothes and a few of the lines - the whole 'suitable for office work' made me smile, and her mum giving the company name in full every time.

Vintagejazz · 17/09/2014 14:11

I loved it when her mum was marvelling at the fact that she was 'the first in the family' to work in an office. She was as proud as if Cilla had been offered a place at Oxford.

Mrsjayy · 17/09/2014 14:18

Yies I lauged at that my aunt is the same age as cilla she went to the clever school andwork ec in a lawyers office she was held in high rregard and my nan used to post about our jean being a secretary

I quite enjoyed it.

Chap from Blandings as John lennon!

AnyoneForTARDIS · 17/09/2014 18:17

CB said in an interview Bobbys getting the recognition he deserved.

well she had all those years to credit him didn't she? why so many years after his death and by a programme, not his wife?

Southeastdweller · 20/09/2014 13:30

Just watched it. Very watchable but the lack of authentic Scouse accents was distracting as well as S.S looking not much like Cilla (AKA MN's all-time fave celeb Grin ). I'm so bored of seeing John Henshaw playing the same character again and again.

InceyWinceySpider · 20/09/2014 19:19

Sheridan Smith waaay to pretty to play Cilla!

auntpetunia · 21/09/2014 19:51

My poor mum was forced to watch it in her care home, she's 83 with dementia and the staff thought the ladies would like to relieve their youth. Mum knew cilla from Scottie road and hated her and her family "all fur coat and no knickers !" Was usually said when she appeared on TV when I was younger. Prefixed with bloody White family thought they better than everyone else, she didn't even have a front door step Of her own, about big Cilla.

I called in yesterday and she's still moanin about having to watch it. Hair styles where wrong, people didn't talk like that, nobody screamed in the cavern until the Beatles did well, and decent girls certainly didn't snog random black guys in clubs!!

All the show has done is convince mum she was right to hate Cilla. I asked the home to let her watch something else on Monday don't think her blood pressure will take another episode.

KenDoddsDadsDog · 21/09/2014 21:56

Aw your poor mam !

YeGodsAndLittleFishes · 21/09/2014 21:58

Elder abuse!

auntpetunia · 22/09/2014 07:55

Haha ye and ken. I was amazed she remembered she'd watched it usually lucky to remember what she was watching 5 mins ago. I think taking her back to where she grew up and the music etc had stuck , she often talks about home and means her home off Scottie Road before she met my dad.

YeGodsAndLittleFishes · 22/09/2014 10:06

Aw, my mum has dementia, and it was wonderful when something like that brought the past alive for her. A shame that they got basic things like hairstyles, accents and screaming in the Cavern so very wrong. Not sure that Cilla kissing a black man (and giving the impression it was a different fellow every night) was that inaccurate from the sounds of things! I think that bit was very clever.

KenDoddsDadsDog · 22/09/2014 10:10

I used to work on Scottie road after I graduated. Bet your man has some great memories of that time !

auntpetunia · 22/09/2014 17:38

Oh the stories she tells about the people and the characters. At the moment that's the era she's in, she's forgotten the 40 yrs married to my dad an it's all about notre dame Everton valley where she went to school and tales of the nuns. Trips to the rotunda and the Locarno we've found some pics from 1962 when she was in and around liverpool. Looks very glam and like the cilla programme. The jeans seem to be a big feature

KenDoddsDadsDog · 22/09/2014 17:57

Brilliant - not good that she has dementia but I bet you are getting to know her from that time. I loved Paul O'Grady's books about his childhood in Liverpool , so witty

auntpetunia · 22/09/2014 18:10

My mum and dads where both more like Helen Forrester's story v poor.

KenDoddsDadsDog · 22/09/2014 21:13

As long as I forget it's Cilla Cak I love it. Sheridan Smith is fab.

Shakey1500 · 22/09/2014 21:59

Ye Gads, she's brilliant. The exact nuance of Cilla singing. I almost wish the real Cilla was nice.

scratchandsniff · 22/09/2014 22:01

Wow Sheridan Smith can really sing - better than Cilla Grin

KenDoddsDadsDog · 22/09/2014 22:05

That was brilliant , it's a great song .

stareatthetvscreen · 22/09/2014 22:09

the singing makes the rest of it worth watching ss has a gorgeous voice
