Oh goodness, Simon's all sweaty and beardy, John looks like a living skull with bad high lights, Nick and Roger look exactly the sameShock

It's been 30 years since their posters adorned my bedroom walls and I taped the top 40 on a Sunday evening but I STILL remember every word of every song they wroteBlush Grin I even know how many beats to pause between words

Weirdly my Dh looks like Simon, complete with beard. If you'd told my 13 year old self that one day I'd marry a Simon look a like I'd have laughed and told you not to be ridiculous I'd be married to JohnGrin Grin Grin

Quick, it's repeated later tonight about 2am iirc. I've set sky plus to record! There's also interviews and docs on them over the next couple of days!!

So who just watched the DURAN DURAN concert on sky?
Sparklingbrook · 29/08/2014 23:35

I got all of my memorabilia down a few weeks ago when we had a sort out of the loft. All the pictures and books and scrapbooks. Posters with blu tak still on the back. DS1 (15) said it was 'sad'. I was around his age when I got it all.

DameDiazepamTheDramaQueen · 29/08/2014 23:44

Sparkling-I knew you'd watch it!Wink

I can't see the pic of John, I'm on the useless appSad

Oh no. It's a good one too. Sad Duran Duran will always be the original and best to me, no other band will ever come close.

DameDiazepamTheDramaQueen · 30/08/2014 08:08

I agree. I don't know what happened to my posters and scrap booksSad

I'm watching the rest of it now as I missed most of it last night. I cried when Ordinary World came on,ds laughed at me! Blush I asked him to learn it on the guitar and he rolled his eyes and said he only plays music that's good!Angry

Kids today have no taste!Hmm

Sparklingbrook · 30/08/2014 19:09

They were playing Ordinary World in Morrisons today. Bit bizarre. Confused

I love Reach up for the Sunrise. always makes me smile.

DameDiazepamTheDramaQueen · 30/08/2014 19:14

My grandfather had to change his telephone number as he had the initials JT and he kept getting screaming girls ringing him upGrin as if JT would have his number in the telephone directoryGrin

Sad I don't have Sky.

The upside is that DS1 loves Girls on Film, so not all bad Grin

Sparklingbrook · 30/08/2014 19:18
Grin

I have said this before but I lived very close to where Nick and John lived. Much hanging about was done, sitting on the garden wall outside JT's house. His poor parents. Reading about it in John Taylor's book now they must have been so bewildered. Sad

DameDiazepamTheDramaQueen · 30/08/2014 19:22

Needing-you've brought him up wellWink

I remember very earnest conversations about what made someone a 'true Duranie'Hmm Grin

Ooh was there a point system Dame? Grin

In the late eighties I was working as a bank cashier and served Roger Taylor-that was a weird moment. I had gone from schoolgirl fan to having a grown up 'hello how can I help you' type of relationship. Grin The posters were down by then-that would have been odd!

DameDiazepamTheDramaQueen · 30/08/2014 19:28

YOU SERVED HIM? That's a true DuranieWink

DameDiazepamTheDramaQueen · 30/08/2014 19:37

And costing the princely sum of £7.
