Oh goodness, Simon's all sweaty and beardy, John looks like a living skull with bad high lights, Nick and Roger look exactly the sameShock

It's been 30 years since their posters adorned my bedroom walls and I taped the top 40 on a Sunday evening but I STILL remember every word of every song they wroteBlush Grin I even know how many beats to pause between words

Weirdly my Dh looks like Simon, complete with beard. If you'd told my 13 year old self that one day I'd marry a Simon look a like I'd have laughed and told you not to be ridiculous I'd be married to JohnGrin Grin Grin

Do you ever wear them spring? Or are they just for looking at now?

i had a straw trilby hat like what JT wore but that's not in my memorabilia box. Sad

DameDiazepamTheDramaQueen · 30/08/2014 19:50

My feet kind of 'flobbed' after the dc and I am now a shoe size bigger. My ankles are still the skinniest part of me though.

DD is 12 now and has size 3 feet so I'm thinking she might like a try at some point.
But she will wear them with 100 den tights and a wide belt, a look I never perfected.
I always looked best in a floor length trench coat a la Stevie Strange. And a paper bag over me head.

OwlCapone · 30/08/2014 22:05

I met them all back stage at the Hammersmith Odeon.

I still have my studded belts and bootstraps upstairs in my bedroom and all my memorabilia in the loft. My mother has my pillowcase with "I heart John
Taylor" printed on it. :)

Sparklingbrook · 30/08/2014 22:07

Have you ever got the stuff down and shown anyone Owl? No bugger was interested when i got all my stuff out. Sad

ElephantsNeverForgive · 30/08/2014 22:12

I don't have sky, but I saw them for real a few years ago. We were only three rows back and I actually rather fancied Simon (no beard).

Always a Roger Taylor (Paul Young and Morgan Hacker) girl in my youth. Never fancied Andy

OwlCapone · 30/08/2014 22:14

Not a chance, Sparkling!

I can already imagine the blank looks from teenage DSs and I doubt DD is interested as none of them are Justin Beiber.

OwlCapone · 30/08/2014 22:16

For some reason though, I think my Rio and Seven and the Ragged Tiger tour scarves are in my bedroom. I'm not sure why they aren't in the box with the posters etc.

Sparklingbrook · 30/08/2014 22:18

DS1 looked at it like it was some sort of parchment from the olden days, and DH started taking the pee out of my scrap book with everything neatly dated and labelled in fountain pen Owl. I had a bit of a strop and put it all back in the loft.

Elephants Simon has aged very nicely I think. Smile

Dame I missed it too! I was the biggest fan as well. Did you ever watch the video of them touring the US? I was sooo desperate to see them in concert but too young and no opportunity Sad. But about 5 years ago I ended up meeting the whole band when they played a festival my (music biz) DH ran. Weird moment at the side of the stage watching Florence and the Machine with SLB (my big crush)...he chatted to me and I had to try and act normally Blush. Then after, he was chatting again with DH behind him all Hmm as he knew the history Grin. They were great when they played even if SLB was a little Dad dancing

Sparklingbrook · 30/08/2014 22:30

If anyone is bored and there is nothing on the TV. Sing Blue Silver is on You Tube.....

Sleepwhenidie · 30/08/2014 22:32

Ahh the Duran lyrics...such nonsense - basically they were mostly and words/phrases that rhymed and fit the tune Grin but such great pop...

OwlCapone · 30/08/2014 22:38

Sinnnnnnnnnnng blue silver

OwlCapone · 30/08/2014 22:42

My fan club membership number was 5357.
Why oh why can I remember that and not some more useful things I learnt at the same time? Like how to speak French for example.

Sparklingbrook · 30/08/2014 22:44

Ooh I would have to look mine up. YY we manage to remember all the lyrics to all the songs from 30+ years ago but nothing that actually matters. Grin

SmileAndNod · 30/08/2014 22:47

Oh but such good memories

beanandspud · 30/08/2014 22:52

Just before I head off to bed...

Out on the tar plains, the glides are moving
All looking for a new place to drive
You sit beside me, so newly charming
Sweating dew drops glisten, freshing your side.

So who just watched the DURAN DURAN concert on sky?
Sparklingbrook · 30/08/2014 22:54

Sleep well done on keeping your composure. Smile

ssd · 30/08/2014 23:00

bean Smile

OwlCapone · 30/08/2014 23:05

And the sun slips down bedding heavy behind
The front of your dress all shadowy lined
And the droning engine throbs in time
With your beating heart
Sinnnnnnnng blue silllllver!

Out of interest, can anyone else accurately drum along to lots of the songs? I find it almost impossible not to Blush

Sparklingbrook · 30/08/2014 23:07

This is a bit nerdy but I only recently realised that the bass lines in DD songs are quite complicated. there a You Tube clips of people showing other guitarists how to do the bass lines to Rio etc and saying how talented JT is.
