'Maeves a vulnerable kid, she's on medication' - really? In front of the class?

Oh yes, I said to dd yesterday, just because they are teachers why does it mean we have to have the 'amusing' annoying children in it every week? It winds me up no end when the kids always push the Tardis buttons and Clara just lets them, no discipline you see!

I did sort of vaguely register the Arden thing, and the Little Red Riding hood thing was hard to miss what with the wolves and all. Was left wondering where the sister was supposed to have been and worrying unnecessarily about the demise of Nelson's column.

RustyDalek · 26/10/2014 18:32

The actress playing Maebh is 11, and the one playing Ruby is 12, so just about secondary age.

By the way, did anybody recognise Ruby's voice?

Nerf · 26/10/2014 18:34

How do you know Rusty? Are you a proud mum?Grin

OP posts:
YonicScrewdriver · 26/10/2014 18:35

They all knew, though, Ruby said Maebh needed her tablets.

Am picturing the baby names thread now:

Dd1 is Annabel and our surname rhymes with Pardon but starts with a vowel sound. I'm thinking Sophie or Elizabeth?

Nah, Maebh is what ya want!

AGnu · 26/10/2014 18:38

I'm sure they mentioned it being a year 8 trip... I thought the kids looked about 10 max!

I'd assumed Missy was the TARDIS when we first encountered her & was somehow collecting up all the people the Doctor was responsible for dying. Not sure what I think now.

Pixel · 26/10/2014 18:42

Rusty I thought the girl seemed familiar though I couldn't work out why.

RustyDalek · 26/10/2014 18:46

No, not a proud mum, just did some googling!

I'm wondering if Missy (whoever she is) has somehow got hold of one of the Claras that were dispersed through the doctor's timeline - maybe one of them had all the 'bad' elements from Clara's character, so making an 'evil' duplicate - whether that's the Clara who is now with the Doctor or not....

RustyDalek · 26/10/2014 18:47

!

ok we all hate, the new doctor,

Ah well it wasn't that, everyone in our house is too old for Peppa Pig, it was Teletubbies in our day! I think she just reminds me a bit of the little girl in the Oreo ads although I see she's also been in Casualty so it might have been that.

Nerf · 26/10/2014 19:08

One missed something. Where's ruby fom ?

OP posts:
Pixel · 26/10/2014 19:59

Oh I've just realised you said Ruby, sorry i was getting mixed up with Maebh. Ignore everything I just said Blush

MaryWestmacott · 27/10/2014 07:53

Yes, Clara is still being tempted by a good looking but dull man. Someone needs to tell her looks don't last and then she'll be stuck with a dull man who gets the hump on with anyone having the wrong sort of fun. Even if you weren't being offered a chance to travel through time and space, just a few girls nights out, men like that aren't worth the effort, no matter how nice their eyes...

Re the kids, I think they looked 12/13 to me, but then we come from short stock in our family, and we are used to older children being cast in younger roles on TV so they have the maturity to carry off roles.

LetThereBeCupcakes · 27/10/2014 09:04

Not a fan of Pink here, either. But I did smile when he asked if the Dr was CRB checked Grin.

I also didn't get the fireflies thing. Or what Maebh's connection to everything was. Or why Annabel just reappeared.

Rusty I like your Missy theory. Seems to fit with the trailer for next week! Looking forward to it.

Idontknowhowtohelpher · 27/10/2014 09:44

Two parter to end the series - it seems to have flown by! I still think Capaldi has been let down by the scripts...

YonicScrewdriver · 27/10/2014 11:05

Annabel will be a Missy minion, I think.

PhaedraIsMyName · 27/10/2014 13:45

If Pink and Clara were real and Clara were posting on here about how much he loves her but he wants her to drop her old friends, he needs to know where she is and what she's been doing we'd tell her to drop him.

PhaedraIsMyName · 27/10/2014 13:49

The scripts have been awful. The best one was The Mummy and a lot of that had to do with Frank Skinner and David Bamber who were excellent( and very little Pink).

Even then it wasn't an original story line. The Robin Hood one was dire.

MrsCakesPrecognition · 27/10/2014 15:04

I was sort of hoping that Clara was going to be forced to choose between the older, cerebral DW and the younger, physical man of action. But Pink hasn't really been dynamic enough for the choice to work.

JuxtheDaemonVampire · 27/10/2014 17:04

Yes, Clara would be a helluva lot better off if she ran for the hills whenever Pinkypoo appeared, but then the future would have to change wouldn't it? So no reason for her not to do it then!

Nice idea the forest, badly done. PC will do better with different scriptwriters. Hope he gets them. Oh, and that he doesn't feel the need to wear sparkly jumpers again.

YonicScrewdriver · 27/10/2014 17:15

Really?

"I lied to my boyfriend about meeting up with the guy I travelled with and had a massive crush on for two years. He found out and told me to have a think about what I'm doing and then tell him the truth, whatever it is. AIBU?"

2rebecca · 27/10/2014 17:24

She wouldn't be lying to him though if he accepted that was part of her life rather than wanting her to change into a suburban housewife.
He either loves the person she is or he doesn't. The time travel stuff is part of who she is.
I suspect his unimaginative stability is attractive when she also has the exciting doctor stuff in her life but if she just had Mr super boring the relationship wouldn't last longer than a month.

PhaedraIsMyName · 27/10/2014 17:28

Yes she's only lying because the dullard doesn't want her to have anything to do with The Doctor.

YonicScrewdriver · 27/10/2014 18:02

See, I totally read Danny differently! I think he knows what it is to go further ethically than you meant to because of a charismatic leader and I think it's more "eyes wide open if you are going to do this" and also "if you want to do this, I might not be the guy for you" - similar to how someone might say "if you want to be a firefighter, that life isn't for me"

But as I'm the only one who thinks that way, I am prepared to concede there's a smidgen of a chance I'm wrong.

pearpotter · 27/10/2014 18:07

I am really enjoying this series as much as if not more than Matt Smith s1 and Eccleston. It's much more of a proper children's programme and much less overblown and up its own arse.
