Sorry for the very brief post yesterday, I was being distracted by my toddler!

Nerf here's my theory:

Missy is short for Mistress, if I remember correctly the TARDIS has considered herself the Drs Mistress for some time. She knows that the Dr is on his last regeneration and is preparing to step in when the time comes. She is collecting up elements of the dead to somehow create a "new" doctor. So I think the policeman she took a few weeks ago will be the "protector" element of the Dr. I think the fact that she offers them tea is significant - when Christopher Ecclestone became David Tennant he needed tea to revive him.

I realise this is all very unlikely but it does solve the problem of what will happen when Capaldi moves on!

confuddledDOTcom · 22/10/2014 15:49

But he has a whole new set of 13 lives.

LetThereBeCupcakes · 22/10/2014 16:10

He does? Where did they come from? Disclaimer: am sleep deprived.

RustyDalek · 22/10/2014 16:39

From the Time Lords. Through the crack in the universe. Because Clara asked them nicely.

LetThereBeCupcakes · 22/10/2014 17:55

Really? I thought they only gave him one more! Doh. Bang goes my theory then!

Nerf · 22/10/2014 18:45

I hate all the crack in the wall going back and hiding Gallifre bollocks. It's all so contrived. If I never see River Song again I will be happy. See I can cope with nice theories like the missy one Grin

Does he? Does he fucking really? Hmm

So now he has 13 new lives? Isn't this one the last one? Confused

YonicScrewdriver · 24/10/2014 12:28

No. Eleven had the last one from the last cycle (Ten regenerated into Ten and the War Doctor was between Eight and Nine.)

I'm not sure it's explicit how many more lives he got but I think it was a whole new cycle of 13; definitely more than 1.

JuxtheDaemonVampire · 24/10/2014 16:19

Nerf, I am with you wholeheartedly. I'd like the writers (or Moffat) to stop trying to make it an adult ratings winner, and try to pretend Riversong never existed and was just an aberration of a disordered mind. Never ever have her back.

HolyQuadrityDrinkFeckArseGirls · 25/10/2014 21:03

The called her Carla Oswald Hmm

museumum · 25/10/2014 21:05

That trailer for next week was VERY interesting!!!

JuxtheDaemonVampire · 25/10/2014 21:10

Missed it this week. Is PC still wearing those truly ghastly trousers?

I have recorded it and will watch it with dd later or tomorrow, as she is out tonight. Oh to be 15....... Grin

MaryWestmacott · 25/10/2014 21:14

Right so, who really believes those children would just want their mums, whilst believing they were perfectly safe and being offered a ride in space Grin

Next week does look good. I do rather wish Mr Pink would stop being so dull and bucket of cold water on all the fun. He's done interesting things in the army so therefore doesn't want to do anything other than dull mundane things, but why is he so against other people having adventures just because he's bored of them? And why is Clara so interested in such a dullard? Can she dump him and get a man with a bit more of an open mind?

MrsCakesPrecognition · 25/10/2014 21:58

Oooh - I'm not usually good at predicting stuff but feeling rather pleased about spotting the children's stories theme after last week's episode.

MrsCakesPrecognition · 25/10/2014 22:01

And if you fancy reading about humans' relationship with forests and fairytales, I'd recommend this book

Pixel · 25/10/2014 22:03

Missed it this week. Is PC still wearing those truly ghastly trousers?

I hate those trousers too but have failed to be outraged this week so either he's stopped wearing them or I've stopped noticing! His jumper was strange though, I couldn't get a proper look at it but it looked a bit girly.

PhaedraIsMyName · 26/10/2014 01:41

MaryWestmacott I know. Pink is beyond dull. Tonight I thought well one consolation of all life on planet Earth being wiped out is at least we won't have to listen to any more of his Hallmark greetings card platitudes.

And it's more than a tiny bit irritating that she even listens to his telling her what to do .

GraveyardPlotsAndDoomedScreams · 26/10/2014 10:26

Completely agree about Pink (although he does have lovely eyes).

I didn't think they were terribly responsible teachers though - surely when you walk with a group you have one at the front and one at the back?

I enjoyed the fairy tales too. I couldn't think what the one with the girl in the tree would be though, I could only think of the Greek myth with Daphne but it wasn't quite right.

RustyDalek · 26/10/2014 10:49

Maebh's second name was Arden, as in Forest of...

I agree about the teachers, Graveyard, I was saying to DH they weren't looking after them properly.

I have mixed feelings about this one, I liked the Doctor in it, I thought it was a good concept, but not well executed. It might have been better if the Doctor had detected the solar flare, worked out that the trees had defended Earth before and then overcome some problem in their helping this time - eg using the TARDIS to boost their power so they could cover the whole Earth. But of course that wouldn't have allowed them to start the episode with 'suddenly the forest is there and no-one knows why'

I think the problem I have is that it would have made a good story without the Doctor in; he wasn't really needed, which I think is never a good idea. Even in a doctor-lite episode like Blink or Turn Left, it's still about the Doctor.

GraveyardPlotsAndDoomedScreams · 26/10/2014 11:33

I got the Queen of the Faeries bit, but completely missed the significance of Arden!

PhaedraIsMyName · 26/10/2014 11:39

I'm a bit of a sour puss and am finding the cute kids saying cute things which turn out to be profound a bit wearing. I'd be happy to have child free and Pink free episodes from now on but I see that will be unlikely.

If Missy is short for Mistress is she the reincarnation of The Master?

2rebecca · 26/10/2014 18:03

I agree Phaedra, we've had 2 weeks of cutesy kids can we ditch them now please.
I didn't really get what the glow worm things were all about either, they seemed an unnecessary complication to the tree plot.
Pink as a teacher seemed earnest but inept, Dr Who needs to watch Bad Education and lighten its teachers up a bit. It's just a job they don't all have to be competing for teacher of the year.
Pink is very tedious, and I still think he's thick, mainly because he seems to have so little imagination and inquisitiveness. I'd write "tries hard but lacks imagination" on his report card and "could do better" (wrt Pink) on Claras.

Nerf · 26/10/2014 18:20

Watching it now but how hold is that kid meant to be? Clara is a secondary school teacher? So 11 at least?

OP posts:
2rebecca · 26/10/2014 18:26

I presumed they were primary school kids but you're right because they're subject teacher not class teachers but the kids looked well under 11.
