AAArgh "raise their CHILDREN"

Greensleeves · 20/09/2006 12:28

"We would all like children who don't need to be disciplined in this way."

I hope your son isn't picking up your disappointment in his personality.

It's not his failings that make you smack.

soapbox · 20/09/2006 12:28

But Clumsymum we don't have to walk a mile in your shoes before we judge you do we?

All this non-judgemental crap is just that it is crap!

The fact is that most people judge other peoples behaviours and actions all the time!

So people will have judged you with or without your permission!

RTKangaMummy · 20/09/2006 12:30

They are about to discuss it on ITV1 LOOSE WOMEN

Just found out I know one of the mothers on this programme (going to have to get DH to tape it now!) One of her DSs (not the one featured) is a school friend of DS2. I'm a bit [shock} tbh, and a bit wary of watching it. If she really is 'proud' of smacking her son, I'm going to find talking to her very uncomfortable

Kidstrack · 20/09/2006 12:37

what i'm watching for on thurs is to find out what the children are given a smack for? i.e what deserves a smack, my ds is 7 and was smacked once for running out onto the road last year, i explained he would be smacked for what he had done, breaking my trust when crossing the road with him and not looking for cars, i think he was showing off because he saw other kids, i only smacked him when we got indoors and he has never run across the road again, i didn't like that i smacked him but this was a serious warning as he could of seriously hurt himself by being hit by a car and the pain of one smack was a greatly reduced pain than what he would of felt if he had been hit by a car

munz · 20/09/2006 12:39

sorry rt - my days are all out this week cos DH is away! lol. (still put it onto record thou!)

TenaLady · 20/09/2006 12:57

The smacking issue is so complicated.

What type of smacking, what mood you are in when smacking, if smacking is necessary.

I think smacking is unecessary. However, I have been know to slap on legs maybe twice in the last 5 years after asking ds5 50 million times to do something which was important to his safety at the time. One was a bath incident and the other near the road.

Neither incident brought a tear to his eye. He looked a bit shocked as he would be because he hadnt been used to it.

Neither times were because i lost my temper, I saw it as a last resort in the circumstances to jog his memory.

TenaLady · 20/09/2006 12:58

IM HERE, COME AND TAKE ME AWAY!

Tortington · 20/09/2006 12:59

tarquin does as he is told, he never needs smacking.

TenaLady · 20/09/2006 21:24
