It's starting soon Grin , I'm far too excited! just hope the transfer to BBC1 doesn't ruin it!

Yes of course Jo Brand is "normal", normal covers a very wide variety.

As Penelope said ^, but if it makes you feel better fruit add the word average as in your "normal average Jo"

My point is we come in all different ages, shapes & sizes and it's nice to see this represented on our TV for a change with female presenters like Jo Brand instead of the usual identikit young bit of eye candy, often draped across the arm of an older man. That Jo is extremely funny and likes cake just add extra bonus points IMHO.

Just found this thread and I'm determined not to be 2 weeks behind everyone like I was last year.

Teen DSs and I watched together and agreed the only thing wrong this week was that we had no cake to eat while we watched it. I will be making a huge, substance over style, chocolate cake to scoff during the next episode.

Someone asked about why they were wearing the same clothes on day 2. They always do. The production team insist, so they can splice the footage easily and insert a reaction shot from day 1 onto footage from day 2 or vice versa. I think it's a bit silly, personally. Surely it's not THAT difficult to put the show together without buggering with the order of events too much?

GalaxyInMyPants · 10/08/2014 23:15

after a 12 hour day baking in a hot studio in stressful conditions I wouldn't want to wear the same outfit the following day.

divingoffthebalcony · 10/08/2014 23:18

I can only hope their clothes are laundered for them overnight!

Doubt it, each contestant would have to be given a wardrobe allowance, surely? And IIRC they don't get an allowance for recipe development, so I doubt they get two sets of free clothes every week Grin

I'm holding onto the "washed overnight" theory, because the alternative is too awful to contemplate!

ppeatfruit · 11/08/2014 10:18

Yes diving the smell in the tent on a hot day wouldn't be just a lovely baking one would it Grin Shock?

MissMysticFalls · 12/08/2014 14:43

If you're interested in how GBBO is put-together, these are useful articles. If not....don't read on....

e.g. it is filmed over two long days and they eat what they cook in the morning for lunch...they do get some warning for the signature and showstopper but less warning for the final...they wear the same clothes next day for continuity (my guess from what I know from friends who work in broadcasting is that in the editing they need to show something from every contestant for each bake and they can't risk not getting it at the time, so can use snippets from Day 2 of peering sadly at an oven if necessary if they didn't get it for Day 1!). My guess is they launder if needed (removing blood and chocolate) but don't have time otherwise. One poor woman does all the washing up by hand. And they have backup bakers for round 1!

IT'S TONIGHT!!!!! I'm really tired so I'm going to record it on our new flat screen (if I can bring myself to wait). I guarantee I'll watch and record it Grin

Yes Mystic thanks for those links an interesting read Thanks

LaChatte · 13/08/2014 11:04

Your life has become great Vivacia because you have good taste in ALL senses of the word [grin ]

Roussette · 13/08/2014 17:24

Just had a look and it seems like it's repeated Sunday at 16.30. Not sure if that applies every week but it certainly is this week.

Can't wait for tonight's episode - shame I have no Cake to eat.

ppeatfruit · 13/08/2014 18:53

I'm going to have my supper watching it so I don't feel too hungry. I've got some vanilla mousse for dessert that'll have to do Grin

Itcantbelove · 13/08/2014 19:58

I am so sad, I have actually been looking forward to tonight's episode for days.

IScreamForIceCream · 13/08/2014 19:58

IScreamForIceCream · 13/08/2014 19:58

Madaboutthrows · 13/08/2014 19:59

I think tonight there is some controversy about icing!

TSSDNCOP · 13/08/2014 20:02

coffeeinbed · 13/08/2014 20:02

Dolly80 · 13/08/2014 20:02

Hello all, it's time to play 'what are their names' again Wink

Biscuit week is here

LaChatte · 13/08/2014 20:02

Evening all, disaster here: I HAVE NO CAKE OR BISCUITS

OP posts:
IScreamForIceCream · 13/08/2014 20:03

I hope that HerrClip does an 'Allo Allo themed biscuitty scene.

But it'll probably be Star Trek/Wars
