It's been a while since we had a WW thread so here we go again!

Be warned, if you've not watched the whole series, you may come across spoilers.

So, favourite episodes/quotes/characters?

For me, favourite episodes: Two Cathedrals and The Supremes, plus numerous others!

Quotes: too many to mention! Bartlett's monologue in Two Cathedrals; Josh and CJ going head to head on many occasions; Toby's "Did you trip?" Grin

Characters: all of them! Except Mandy Wink

I'll take you on Middlings

How about a rota??

MardyBra · 17/07/2014 10:01

Marking place. I couldn't join in with the old WW threads as I was still watching. Have now watched the lot but can't remember half the stuff that went on.

I hated Mandy too. At the risk of being kicked off the thread, am I the only one who never quite got Toby?

But I'd love a dinner party with Josh (especially Josh. With this lovely forearms.), Donna, CJ, Leo, well all of them really. I'd let Toby in though as it would be unfair to exclude him.

MardyBra · 17/07/2014 10:11

betty
CJ and the map people is one of my favourite bits too. Just researched it - I love Professor Huke!

MardyBra · 17/07/2014 10:12

Oh and I always had a rational urge to give Danny a good haircut and beard trim.

FrankelandFilly · 17/07/2014 10:17

Yes Danny always did have a bit if the "Noel Edmonds" about him Grin

Researched = rewatched

That would be a bit odd.

OnlyLovers · 17/07/2014 17:16

'am I the only one who never quite got Toby?'

YES!!!!!!

dazzlingdeborahrose · 17/07/2014 21:48

I love Toby. We called our dog Toby in his honour. Just got a new puppy and called him Sam. So we have toby and Sam. So tempted to get two girl dogs so we can call them bonnie and ginger Grin I could watch he episode where Toby organises the funeral for the veteran again and again.

dazzlingdeborahrose · 17/07/2014 21:51

I also love the presidents rant at Zoe about why she needs security. Then a few series later the scenario he describes actually happens when she's kidnapped. Fabulous writing.

HumphreyCobbler · 17/07/2014 21:58

mmm, I found Toby irritating on first watch and then fell for him the second time around

BettyBolognese · 17/07/2014 22:04

mardy it's great isn't it... CJ's mind is literally blown!

"Oh & season one when Sam hugs Leo & Leo says 'boy did you get that wrong ' "

It was Josh who tried to hug Leo after a scolding for saying that POTUS would get a bump in the polls if the pilot who was shot down (somewhere) was rescued to the VP.

cookiefiend · 17/07/2014 22:46

We watch ww from start to finish at least once a year, just in th background usually or in bed. I think of it as comfort television. may start again tonight. I love the early funny episodes- big block of cheese day. cj and the maps and the next year cj wih the wolf highway. POTUS on painkillers. Watch again and again the one with yo yo ma and stanley. Ooh and when josh is hungover and joey arrives ...

FrankelandFilly · 18/07/2014 08:40

I watched that one last night cookie Grin, I love Joey Lucas, yet another strong female character.

The speech the Rabbi gives Toby about the death penalty is great piece of writing:

Toby: The Torah doesn't prohibit capital punishment.
Rabbi Glassman: No.
Toby: It says, 'An eye for an eye'.
Rabbi Glassman: You know what it also says? It says a rebellious child can be brought to the city gates and stoned to death. It says homosexuality is an abomination and punishable by death. It says men can be polygamous and slavery is acceptable. For all I know, that thinking reflected the best wisdom of its time, but it's just plain wrong by any modern standard. Society has a right to protect itself, but it doesn't have a right to be vengeful. It has a right to punish, but it doesn't have a right to kill.

Ah yes the top secret plan to tackle inflation. Poor Josh.

OnlyLovers · 19/07/2014 16:04

D0nna, that reminded me of Toby doing the press briefings: 'On a scale of one to ten – ten being C.J. and one being a chimp throwing feces – where do I rank?' Grin

FrankelandFilly · 21/07/2014 19:05

I watched In The Shadow Of Two Gunmen last night. The part where Toby finds Josh always chokes me up Sad

Oh, I need to rewatch from the start. DH and I do every year usually. We usually start at some time around now when there' soothing on tv. He's resisting so far this year, so I may have to ramp up my campaign a bit.
