Why are they closing the roof?

What a very, very strange thing to do. Confused

Why are they closing the roof? Is it about to rain?

Raahh · 05/07/2014 15:10

I know DuPain - the title is longerGrin

We might have to ask MNHQ to change the title so we can use it for the men as well!

They might be worrying about rain- but will the ceremony take longer than the 20 minutes it takes to shut the roof? Hmm

Bouchard will be back- I think she is mentally tougher than some of the younger players.

I wouldn't want that man's job. I would spell something wrong.

Me thinks the roof could have been closed for the match as the wind is quite strong today maybe that disturbed Bouchard's play!

Raahh · 05/07/2014 15:12

Do we get an interval act? Riverdance? Murray Montage?

OP posts:
Raahh · 05/07/2014 15:13

Pulled- no, I think Petra was just too good.

OP posts:
Raahh · 05/07/2014 15:13

But the Bouchard Camp might mention the wind Wink

What an anti-climax Sad

I think they are closing the roof because rain is forecast and they want to get the next match underway as soon as they can after the presentation ceremony. There are two finals to follow this match.

DuPainDuVinDuFromage · 05/07/2014 15:14

It does seem very odd! Maybe they just want to show off the technology Grin

Well there's definitely plenty of room on the thread for tomorrow! Unless we all watch, and wildly comment on, Sock and Popsock later Grin

Fiderer · 05/07/2014 15:14

Blimey. Kvitova played so strongly and totally dominated Bouchard. Really didn't expect that.

Raahh · 05/07/2014 15:14

I think the next two matches have potential to be better than this was- but fair play to Kvitova, she was strong right from the off.

DuPainDuVinDuFromage · 05/07/2014 15:14

Oh I see Drama, that would make more sense.

Fiderer · 05/07/2014 15:16

I like the fact they built a little gate so the winners don't have to climb over that roof bit to get to their families.

Raahh · 05/07/2014 15:17

I never tire of mentioning Jack Sock.

I have little opinion of his actual game, thoughGrin

All i know about Popsock is he seems to be scared of Wawrinka- twice, he has pulled out of matches he was due to play against himGrin

OP posts:
Pulledapart · 05/07/2014 15:17

Petra definitely played better.....just clutching at straws for an excuse Grin

Raahh · 05/07/2014 15:18

There is murder behind Genie's eyes....Grin

I don't see why the women should get the same prize money as the men. Fair enough if they played 5 sets.

£1 760 000 for under an hour isn't bad going.

DoctorTwo · 05/07/2014 15:19

DA :o Nicely done.

Raahh · 05/07/2014 15:21

Lesley- is is ridiculous, isn't t- however much you try to spin it- they train as hard, etc etc. Tomorrow's match is unlikely to be less than 2 hours at the very least.

And it's a bloody lot of money for that!

HarveySchlumpfenburger · 05/07/2014 15:21

Found you. Doesn't look like I missed much.

Fiderer · 05/07/2014 15:21

There is murder behind Genie's eyes Oh yes.

Raahh · 05/07/2014 15:21

Aww, happy birthday David.

OP posts:
Raahh · 05/07/2014 15:22

Rafa- nope. You have missed little.

We spent longer discussing Jack Sock than the match.
