Everyone is saying that tonights episode is the best yet, baby needs to sleep so I can watch it!

OP posts:
BlueFrenchHorn · 17/03/2014 22:20

As shocking as this episode was, I can't say it was the best episode ever so far. Also, I found the whole Sophia emerging from the barn scene more shocking and Coral killing Lori more disturbing.

I'm so glad that Tyreese forgave Carol, I think they will end up getting together. God, carols character has changed so much from the meek, broken woman abused by her husband to probably the toughest one of the whole group. I don't think even Michonne could have killed Lizzie - Carol did what needed to be done.

PassTheSherry · 17/03/2014 22:21

50shadesofknackered It's such a relief to finally be able to talk about it!

So sad - Mika really was too sweet to live in TWD world though. Poor Mika. But then poor Lizzie too. I know she got on people's nerves but it had me thinking maybe she was so traumatised by watching her Mum turn (was that in her backstory?), and then losing her Dad too - maybe her way of dealing with it, was developing the delusion that the Walkers are still people. Bit like the Governor thinking he may be able to cure his dead daughter I suppose.

So then I got thinking that what she really needed was lots of therapy and couselling to work through her grief - but of course in the post apocalyptic world, there isn't room for that...so lots of traumatised, grief-stricken kids who would get short shrift. Maybe that links in with what Mika was saying to Carol earlier, about pitying people who try to kill other people, because before it all, they probably weren't like that. It was like a foreshadowing of Lizzie's 'change', and also an expression of compassion for her sister and would-be killer.

Phew! Glad I got that out haha

hoppingmad · 17/03/2014 22:46

Wow Shock. Poor mika, she was almost like a second chance for carol after Sophia and now she's gone too.
I think the actress who played lizzie was incredible, very convincing,
Can't believe Tyresse just forgave carol straight off, was expecting a bit more of a reaction than that

Next week looks good - Glenn, daryl & rick Smile

laraeo · 17/03/2014 22:46

I wonder about Lizzie in the pre-walker world too.

I think she was already mentally ill. Remember Mika telling her to look at the flowers and concentrate on her breathing?

I kept having visions of Ol' Yeller - don't know if that's as well known in the UK but basically a boy has to shoot his dog (1800s) because it was rabid.

This was by far the best episode in a very long time.

I've got a ticket to a Con with Melissa McBride next month. I can't wait.

susiedaisy · 17/03/2014 22:48

Sophia emerging from the barn is still the most emotive scene out of all the episodes for me.

susiedaisy · 17/03/2014 22:53

I do feel tense watching this series though because they are all on foot. When they were all in convey in the vehicles I felt they had a certain amount of safety unless they came across a herd. But on foot they are so vulnerable. I find myself looking all around the characters waiting for walkers to come out of the bushes.

BlueFrenchHorn · 17/03/2014 22:53

Agree susie

hopping I think Tyreese forgave Carol because he basically did the same thing to Lizzie. He agreed with Carol it needed to be done in order to protect Judith and other people. That's why carol killed Karen - same reasons to protect others. I think he understood.

PassTheSherry · 17/03/2014 23:24

Oh that's true laraeo - I'd forgotten that. Yes it does seem like she was always highly strung. Probably not so fascinated with death though.

ZacharyQuack · 17/03/2014 23:39

The writing was on the wall for those two girls right from their first scenes you knew they were going to die. Mika said several times that Lizzie was messed up, so there must have been ongoing problems.

I had said previously that Judith would die because babies are boring, but they've shown her a bit more in this episode and she's very cute. #TeamJudith. However, I did see a photo from this episode online where Lizzie is holding Judith and Judith looks like she might have red hair. What a shame Shane wasn't a redhead.....

Carol and Tyreese were delusional if they thought they could be safe at that house. Did they learn nothing from the hordes of zombies pressing on the prison fences?

I assumed they had bottled gas at the house, which is why the stove was working. It seemed short-sighted to waste the gas on roasting nuts in the oven.

I wished Carol had admitted that she was wrong to kill Karen and David, because it made no difference to the spread of the illness.

I hope they can reunite the different groups before the end of the season. I especially want to see Rick and Carl get Judith back.

hoppingmad · 17/03/2014 23:53

Good point bluefrenchhorn, hadn't thought of it that way.

I also can't wait to see Carl & rick reunited with Judith. I'm intrigued to see terminus too, wonder what it will hold in store.

Tallalime · 18/03/2014 04:07

Definitely one of my fave episodes, though I think I prefer the Shane/Otis at the High School one.

Poor Carol Sad and Tyrese, Mika and Lizzie. Though I think it was pretty clear that Lizzie had some serious issued from the second she was introduced, what with the Lennie style look at the flowers (cough rabbits) being referenced when her Dad died.

I assume the fire they kept going on about was Daryl/Beth's moonshine cabin.

Wendydog · 18/03/2014 06:46

Ooooo the cabin yes it must have been, I hadn't even thought of that!

MichonnesSamuraiSword · 18/03/2014 07:56

Good episode!

I enjoyed it, it was a good bit of psychological drama, but none of the usual tension that you get with TWD.

I think they did the right thing with Lizzie, she was dangerous to anyone she was with, it was kinder to end it for her quickly. I was worried Carol would lose her nerve and Lizzie would talk her round, so I was shouting 'just shoot her!!!' At the screen. I'm not normally violent!

I definitely think the fire was Darryl and Beth's hut, a tantalising hint that they were close by all along.

Poor Carol has really been through the wringer hasn't she. The actress who plays her is brilliant.

Judith will live as she's a plot device to bring maximum emotion when Rick finds her. If they hadn't already envisaged that scene, Judith would have died by now.

Poor Tyrese, I'm glad his sister is alive, that will give him a massive boost when he finds her at Terminus.

Wickedgirl · 18/03/2014 08:09

So sad.

I'm not sure who I feel for the most. Lizzie clearly had issues. Poor Mika. Poor carol for shooting Lizzie. Tyreese at least knows the truth about karen.

Blondeshavemorefun · 18/03/2014 08:38

Oh dear god. I had to watch this after working last night - normally go Striaght to bed !!!!!

Lizzie is a total nutter. She obv didn't live in the real world and a little bit demented when playing with the zomblie - don't see many kid walkers - said that ages ago

From the opening scene you think it's kids playing - but it's not !!!!

Poor mika - but carol had to kill lizzie as she's a risk to them - dp was watching with me before he went to work and was omfg

Had to be done tho. Either them or her

Think someone said 2 to go is that right?

50shadesofknackered · 18/03/2014 08:51

It could have been the cabin, but didn't all the burnt walkers have overalls on? It's really frustrating that they''re all so close to each other.

MichonnesSamuraiSword · 18/03/2014 10:13

Hmm wonder where the overalls came from? Although I did assume the burnt walkers had just come from the burning cabin, perhaps been attracted to it before wandering back out. No idea why they'd all be wearing overalls - farming area?

I definitely felt most sorry for Carol in last night's episode. Mika wouldn't have known what was happening, and was a happy peaceful little soul. Lizzie was frightened but it was over quickly too. Carol had started to form a bond with them, and play 'Mum' (the baking scene) and just started to let herself believe they could live happily. She would be devastated. The sooner she gets back to Darryl and Rick the better.

Tyreese, while it must be difficult for him, he now has some closure.

I was surprised that Carol said it wasn't Lizzie who killed Karen though, I was sure it was her and Carol had covered up for her.

50shadesofknackered · 18/03/2014 10:18

I could be wrong Michonne but I'm sure they were, I might double check later God, I'm sad

I didn't notice the overalls. Could it be some kind of uniform? Like people working on the railroad (all the live long day)?

BlueFrenchHorn · 18/03/2014 11:26

They're all so close to each other!

Blondeshavemorefun · 18/03/2014 11:58

I said previously they are all so close to each other / it's silly they don't bump - or even search esp when gunshots would echo round the still quiet countryside for miles

Toizzy · 18/03/2014 12:03

Good episode last night!
okay so I obviously haven't got enough to do but has anyone else been wondering what on earth Judith's been fed with all this time? When Tyreese grabbed here and ran from the prison he didn't happen to have a bag full of formula wih him as well did he?Hmm

limitedperiodonly · 18/03/2014 12:08

I was wondering what Judith is eating too. Must be something good because she's huge. Even bigger than Giant Baby Sybbie from Downton.

MichonnesSamuraiSword · 18/03/2014 12:15

Oh I keep wondering what the hell Judith is being fed as well.. I mean, often they don't even have access to clean water..!
