All the living humans are infected anyway, hence turning upon death regardless of how you died. So unless eating walker actually kills you, it shouldn't turn you.

If you went and got relatively "fresh" walkers that had turned in the last month or so, would that not be similar to well hung meat?

ZebraZeebra · 03/04/2014 12:14

I DARE NOT read ANY of this thread because I think I am one episode before the episode discussed at the start of the thread...but I would be very interested to read the previous thread, if anyone could kindly link?

TIA!

50shadesofknackered · 03/04/2014 12:32

So why does a bite 'turn'you but eating walker meat doesn't? Sorry if I being stupid

Its0kToBeMe · 03/04/2014 13:32

Being dead turns you, you dont need to be bitten. Like the guy Rick killed and left to turn.

I guess if they bite you you would either die from blood loss or sepsis.

limitedperiodonly · 03/04/2014 13:51

Why would they keep all the bones tho?

To make stock. It's the Walking Dead equivalent of the MN everlasting chicken.

AWimbaWay · 03/04/2014 13:57

I think what 50shades means is, if you are bitten, not actually torn to shreds, just a small bite from a walker, you turn, without dying first. So it's like you become infected by the bite. So, wouldn't eating a walker also infect you in the same way? I know everyone is already infected, but being bit seems to speed up the process, that's why they had to chop off Hershel's leg.

Eww Grin

I really wouldn't fancy it, Id rather eat berries, or squirrel!

Some of them are absolutely gopping when one of Ricks lot etc kill them though, no juicy steaks to be had, more like a pack of grey mince 2 weeks past use by date.

There were a lot of bones though and they all appeared to be fairly fresh, so I suppose the radio broadcasts bring them a steady supply. I wonder how they decide who they keep to join their gang and who they throw on the BBQ?

AmberLeaf · 03/04/2014 16:21

I agree with 50shades too, I think there would be potential for turning if you ate walker.

MoominsYonisAreScary · 03/04/2014 17:19

Maybe its in the saliva and gets into the bloodstream when they bite you which speeds it all up kills you quickly then you turn.

Cutting off the limb stops it spreading through the veins then

hoppingmad · 03/04/2014 19:26

Perhaps that's the cure, eating a walker makes you invincible/invisible to them. A bit like building an immunity to them

Wickedgirl · 03/04/2014 20:30

I too felt disappointed. The second half of this season has just been odd.

CheerfulYank · 03/04/2014 21:27

I may have got this today :o

That's an interesting thought Amber, perhaps they'll be tested to see who gets to live and who gets to cook?

Rollergirl1 · 04/04/2014 22:55

I've just had a horrible thought. Maybe they are eating them alive? Then they won't turn and have a constant "fresh" supply?

BlueFrenchHorn · 05/04/2014 02:04

roller I think that too.

ZacharyQuack · 05/04/2014 02:07

roller if they shoot them in the head, they'll die without turning.

moreyear · 05/04/2014 02:18

I was thinking the same thing! I wondered if they kept them alive and 'harvested limbs from them.

Toizzy · 05/04/2014 08:19

Like in The Road

50shadesofknackered · 05/04/2014 09:03

Oh God! That us a horrible thought! It makes sense but I hope they are n't doing that!

CheerfulYank · 05/04/2014 14:41

I thought that too. Ick, just thinking about the Road gives me shudders.

limitedperiodonly · 05/04/2014 15:45

Is that what they do in The Road?

In Candide - I was a pretentious teenager - they're lost at sea and they eat a woman's buttock but let her live. It's presented as a joke, though she doesn't see the funny side of it.

There's a Stephen King short story called Survivor Type about a man stranded on a desert island who eats bits of himself to stave off starvation and gradually runs out of bits.

I also remember a stand-up in a top hat who was pretending to eat bits of his brain out of the hat (I think it was porridge) while keeping up a commentary which got madder and madder.

It was so clever and so funny and I really wish I could remember his name.
