Everyone is saying that tonights episode is the best yet, baby needs to sleep so I can watch it!

OP posts:
AmberLeaf · 01/04/2014 13:14

I found the last few episodes a bit underwhelming.

I have heard good things about game of thrones, but Im not sure if I'll like it, I dont really like things that are 'other worldly' I may have the wrong impression though, Im willing to give it a go.

AWimbaWay · 01/04/2014 13:22

I love Game of Thrones, very excited it's back on soon!

TulipOHare Battlestar Galactica is one of my favourite all time series too.

hoppingmad · 01/04/2014 13:24

I'm thinking the same amberleaf, not sure it will be my 'thing'

I couldn't stand battlestar galactica, every character annoyed me. Especially the chancellor woman or whoever she was.

AWimbaWay · 01/04/2014 13:25

Amberleaf, Game of Thrones really is more about the characters in the same way TWD is, you really get to love and hate (really seriously hate!) some of the characters, well worth giving it a go, but you have to watch from the beginning else you won't have a clue what's going on. It does contain a lot of gratuitous sex though, so watch who you watch it with!

AmberLeaf · 01/04/2014 13:53

I don't mind a bit of gratuitous sex Grin but will probably not watch with my 17 yr old son, as that would be awkward.

Im watching Bones at the moment, which I somehow missed when it first came out, but I think I'll watch game of thrones next. So many people are raving about it, it must be good.

CheerfulYank · 01/04/2014 13:57

Ohhh yes Tulip I loved BSG! Until it broke we had a toaster that made a centurion shape on your toast on one side and FRAK YOU on the other. :o

limitedperiodonly · 01/04/2014 13:59

I liked Battlestar Galactica but got a bit bored. I did watch the whole thing though.

What I really liked about it was that the President was a dictator and persecuted her rival (can't remember his name). I thought that was realistic, that you would do that, not entirely for personal power but because you told yourself it was your duty for the good of the survivors.

I think that's what would happen in a Walking Dead situation - obviously they did too because they invented The Governor.

I also liked it when Starbuck went a bit loopy.

Really looking forward to GoT too.

MichonnesSamuraiSword · 01/04/2014 14:10

I watch Revolution which is post-apocalyptic adventure stuff, but it's a bit cheesy and too sanitized.. e.g all the female characters have amazing hair and make up which just annoys me. the two male leads are hot though so I put up with it

Other than that we tend to watch Spy / combat type stuff like Homeland and Strike Back.

I feel the need for a good gritty drama.

AmberLeaf · 01/04/2014 14:12

My two fav ever TV series were six feet under and the Sopranos.

I think TWD is the first show Ive enjoyed as much since those two.

Paleodad · 01/04/2014 14:13

When Rick et al were being chased/herded through the Terminus compound, did anybody else think that the shouts of "help" (male and female voices. seemingly coming from those red containers) could be Carol and Tyreese? If so, who will save them now???

limitedperiodonly · 01/04/2014 14:17

I gave up on Revolution shortly before the end of the first series. I did enjoy the threads after each episode ripping it to shreds though.

MichonnesSamuraiSword · 01/04/2014 14:25

Limited it's getting a bit more interesting now, but still a bit silly. I mean, ok the premise can be far-fetched, just as it is in TWD, but it's how they deal with it that is important.

TWD - they're living on the road, they're covered in blood, look like shit, greasy hair, hungry. Believable.

Revolution - they're living on the road, have perfect hair and makeup and look wonderful. Daft. But I still watch it!

Paleo not sure if I recognized the voices - I thought there were more than just two to be honest, perhaps all the containers are full of people.

limitedperiodonly · 01/04/2014 14:29

Does Neville still wear his rather camp green uniform and jackboots michonne?

MichonnesSamuraiSword · 01/04/2014 14:33

Yes! But he's found his mojo again, by losing his wife to another man, and then having an affair with her behind her new DHs back. Go Neville!

I mainly watch if for Monroe.... he's rather easy on the eye...

Toizzy · 01/04/2014 15:44

Breaking bad is a great serie as well although it can seem a little slow at first.Very clever, not a single "faux pas" in the scenario.
Game of thrones of course is brilliant as well.
There are also Sons of anarchy, don't think it's just about a gang on bikes killing each other, well ok it is but it's a brilliant serie as well. The first season is quite violent but the storyline is really interesting. And Jax is hot Wink
And finally Spartacus which is not for the faint hearted, very violent, shocking at times but pretty awesome all the same (very 300 like).

My dp and I have just started watching House of cards, Sean Penn is so good in it.

So anyway that's my faves:

  • TWD
-GOT -SOA -Breaking bad
  • Spartacus

Based on that if anyone has got suggestions for series that would be great Smile

hoppingmad · 01/04/2014 16:05

Grimm's pretty watchable, mainly for Munro who's hilarious. Revolution as mentioned above is watchable for a different Monroe for different reasons.
Arrow, like revolution, started well but quickly become farcical.

I think a lot of these programmes are best kept to one or two seasons as they don't seem to know what direction to take them in after that. That's why I like TWD - it's the fine wine of tv programmes Smile

Midori1999 · 01/04/2014 16:11

Amberleaf my 17 year old son is nagging me to watch breaking bad too. We got Netflix do I could watch it, but I've started watching Homeland instead, which I'm only on the second episode of, but like a lot so far.

Game of Thrones is brilliant. I didn't like sons of anarchy at all though, neither did my son, although he expected to.

AmberLeaf · 01/04/2014 16:38

My son started watching it after his GCSEs were finished last summer, He was hooked. I wouldn't normally let him watch until all hours, but he deserved it after all the GCSE stress.

Sons of anarchy has been on my radar, as Ive heard good things.

Jericho was okay. Morgan was in that too, wasn't he?

Amber I loved Six Feet Under! Peter Krause is in the series Parenthood now, and in the first episode he's standing there in running shoes and shorts and I said "NATE!" and nearly cried. Blush

Blondeshavemorefun · 01/04/2014 18:53

finally watched - first 15mins wow - all action - was carl raped? :(

terminal is terminal

they were herding them with bullets on the ground to get them where they wanted

i saw the remains/skeletons on the floor

so def seem to be eating people :( and prob drugged bbq flesh

what did rick mutter at the end?

i did think they were going to shot carl as he walked to the train

Monroe · 01/04/2014 19:15

"They're gonna feel pretty stupid when they find out"
"They're screwing with the wrong people"

I didn't think carl was raped but it came pretty close Sad

I'm very jealous of everyone's viewing plans. We have virgin so don't have sky Atlantic and haven't got netflix so can't watch all the shows I would like to.

My list would include breaking bad, GoT and homeland. Never seen any of them and would really like to.

Did any of you watch The Returned last year? (Blondes weren't you on that thread?) That was really good. I've been looking out for news of when the second series will be aired but no news yet

IdaBlankenship · 01/04/2014 20:03

The Returned was great wasn't it - it made me wish I'd paid more attention in French lessons.

Toizzy · 01/04/2014 20:04

I've seen the returned , I think the second season is only starting around September!

Toizzy · 01/04/2014 20:05

Was it only in french then?
