Fab or what!

OP posts:
guineapiglet · 05/03/2014 09:26

wow!!! fab and much needed summary, thank you. I watched series 1 avidly (and I thought, remembered it all Shock!) but had completely forgotten about Dot's link with Tommy at the end....this series is just as compulsive but I think Keeley's performance gives it the edge. there was a really good piece on the series in this Sunday's Observer, claiming that it was shaping up to be as good as The Killing, with exceptional performances from both female leads...but that it was the writing which made it so classy and combo of really talented actors. does anyone remember Bodies? Jed Mercurios writing outstanding in that and still best hospital drama ever written.........(Green Wing excepted obviously!!!)

Cocolepew · 05/03/2014 09:31

Thanks for that , it brought it all back. I'll tell DH tonight and he'll be very impressed by my recall Wink.

Pickofthepops · 05/03/2014 18:28

Thanks so much. Hadn't realised how much detail I'd missed.

namechangeagaininnit · 05/03/2014 18:32

Loving line of duty. Marking place to come back and discuss

truelymadlysleepy · 05/03/2014 18:39

Me too. I really hope she's released early in the episode tonight, the prison bit is grim and a bit dull.

HazeltheMcWitch · 05/03/2014 22:03

Ooh goodness me that was good.
But I had to attend a crying child - when i came back, Kate was crying.
Please someone tell me why!

TIA...

soupmaker · 05/03/2014 22:12

Had to watch the last scenes with Denton and the bent cops from behind the sofa. Terrified. So, so good.

I think Kate was crying over comments Hastings made about adultery. I however missed what was going on when she seemed to be a hotel room. What was that all about?

It was good this week. Better than last week. Still OTT though.

HazeltheMcWitch · 05/03/2014 22:12

And whatevermaycome - I have just read your fab summary for the 2nd time, and realised that I had not said thanks. So Thanks

HazeltheMcWitch · 05/03/2014 22:13

Aha, soup - adultery. Poss chimed with her Akers shenanigans?
I thought she was in a hotel room too - er, that's another bit I did not quite understand, I guess.

soupmaker · 05/03/2014 22:16

Whatever, brilliant synopsis. Thanks. I'd forgotten quite a bit from S1.

Optimist1 · 05/03/2014 22:18

Not sure how far you got, Hazel, but it had become apparent to Kate that Hastings is holding back on investigating Dryden, so she and Arnott are being handicapped by his duplicity.

There was a lot that happened in the last 10-15minutes, though, and I'm never very good at comprehensive summaries so perhaps you need to get it on iPlayer?

Optimist1 · 05/03/2014 22:21

It didn't occur to me that Dryden's reference to adultery was what upset Kate! Good point.

I thought that following the brief scene where she returned home (and had an argument with her DP?) she had decamped to a hotel? Or was that the hotel where Denton and Dryden were habitués? Looking forward to hearing others' observations!

Optimist1 · 05/03/2014 22:22

^ Hastings' reference to adultery, not Dryden's!

HazeltheMcWitch · 05/03/2014 22:24

Optimist1 - I think I only missed a couple of minutes... But I might try and watch it again anyway!

The end was fab, wasn't it?

Ah, either of those hotel explanations would make sense. Hmm....

amothersplaceisinthewrong · 05/03/2014 22:36

So is Dot Cotton bent.... I am getting to think they all might be bent other than Steve and Kate....

Optimist1 · 05/03/2014 22:41

Still not sure about Dot - I was a bit twitchy when he insisted on pursuing the "caddy" and insisted on being updated about it. I'm guessing he has an inkling about what's going on but isn't necessarily actively involved in the skulduggery.

thepurgingmary · 05/03/2014 22:43

So was the house with the kid on the stairs Kate's house? I didn't know she had a child?

And what does Denton know about the Carly disappearance. She drew attention to the case in the first place - after she was onto Kate as ac19 . . .

Cocolepew · 05/03/2014 22:52

When Kate went home ut was implid that her husband had found out about her adultery, she has moved out to a hotel.

Is Dryen using the ticket thing as an alibi for the night Carly disappeared?

thepurgingmary · 05/03/2014 22:56

Ac-12 not 19

Did we know Kate had a husband and child?

We know arnott is rather tragic lonely single.

Hmmm.

thepurgingmary · 05/03/2014 22:57

So caddy on the tape is cotton? We know this from series 1. And this is why he jumped at 'looking into' that angle . . .

Cocolepew · 05/03/2014 23:07

In one of the earlier episides, kate is on the phone saying she was working late and for the other person to "put him to bed" .
Then she went off and had sexy time with the grieving widower.

TheWomanWithTheMysteriousLump · 05/03/2014 23:16

We saw at the very very end of series 1 that Kate has a husband and child at home, but haven't heard or seen any more than that.

Willemdefoeismine · 06/03/2014 07:50

How on earth is Denton going to extricate herself from a car boot???

That was a rollercoaster of an episode for sure! Wow!

Since there is clearly so much overlap with Series 1 it's a great pity they didn't repeat that one (wasn't it initially shown in 2012 - so long ago for us to have forgotten the salient bits...) first.....

Brilliant anyway

VerucaInTheNutRoom · 06/03/2014 08:16

I'm thinking that Denton had her suspicions about Dryden being involved in Carly Kirk's disappearance hence her interest in the case and possibly why he has tried to frame her. Didn't they split up around the time of the disappearance?

Cocolepew · 06/03/2014 08:31

Im beginning to think Denton isn't going to make it to the end if tbe series, she's not having much luck!
