Vera leaving the cobbles really made me blubbing. I'm not sure if Hayley's departure will make me feel the same?

Ivy and Don Brennan,

Didn't he try and kill Alma before driving his taxi into the dock, log before Richard Hillman?

JeanSeberg · 25/01/2014 18:54

Does anyone know if Sylvia's coming back for either the funeral or as a regular again? I thought it was illness that made the actress leave so suddenly but it was a bereavement apparently. Hope she does come back I loved her.

Me too Jodie. I love this type of character like Deirdre's mum. They're always fab with the one-liners and withering put-downs.

Anyone remember Julia on Brookside?!

StrawberryTeddybear · 25/01/2014 20:38

Urgh I'm aannoyed with it at the mo, all the story lines are dire, time to shake things up corrie!!

I hated the bit when fiz, Anna and Carla were buzzing around Roy asking if they could help with anything! A very tiny flat which is spotless LEAVE HIM ALONE!!!

WhoKnowsWhereTheTimeGoes · 25/01/2014 21:35

I see Les Dennis is joining the cast

Lighthousekeeping · 25/01/2014 21:53

I like Les!

Makes me think of his impression of Mavis. Grin

AnneEyhtMeyer · 25/01/2014 22:42

Is he going to work in the Kabin?

JodieGarberJacob · 25/01/2014 23:05

When I think of Les Dennis I see Les

JodieGarberJacob · 25/01/2014 23:06

...... Battersby, so I'm going to be really confused! Especially if he and Stella get a thing going.

WhoKnowsWhereTheTimeGoes · 25/01/2014 23:06

He's going to be a burglar. So will probably end up working for Owen.

nennypops · 25/01/2014 23:13

Couldn't believe it that when Roy went up to see Hayley for the last time before the undertakers took her, Fiz had to muscle in. Surely no-one would really be that insensitive?

Migsy1 · 25/01/2014 23:20

Jean I remember Julia Brogan on Brookside. She was good. It is a shame Blanche died too. I'd love to see Curley Watts back. I can't understand why they don't bring him back as everybody liked him at the time.

Nenny Don't get me started either, Roy's last few hours with Hayley were totally ruined by various visitors calling in. Corrie ruined it. It could have been so poignant with just the two of them. And now he's stuck with the most annoying characters because of the funeral arrangements. Really irritating.

nennypops · 26/01/2014 14:13

Absolutely, JeanSeberg. I really felt for him when he was asking them why they had come upstairs with him when he hadn't asked them, and Fiz was whittering on about how Hayley wouldn't have wanted him to be left alone, when the reality is that she at least would probably have understood that he wanted to be alone. I suspect in real life/after the watershed he'd have told them all to fuck off before pushing them all out of the door and barricading it behind them.

mileysorearse · 26/01/2014 15:11

Weirdly, I am finding Anna the least annoying out of the three. She seems to care about Roy himself, the others are just banging on about what Hayley would have wanted. It would have been much better if the writers had let her keep vigil then quietly clear up and get the GP etc. instead of foghorn Carla and whiny Fiz.

DesperateHousewife21 · 26/01/2014 16:18

Im not surprised he ended up snapping at them to leave him alone, they would all do my head in.

I dont really like les Dennis but will wait to see how he fits in before passing judgement.

Migsy1 · 26/01/2014 17:03

Why is Les Dennis coming into it?

Strawdolly · 26/01/2014 17:31

To big up the ratings? Maybe if the storylines were a bit better just now they wouldn't need to bring even more annoying folk into it Angry

JeanSeberg · 26/01/2014 17:44

It's a sad state of affairs if LD is the best they can do to boost the ratings isn't it Straw. Grin

Strawdolly · 26/01/2014 18:40

Well, I don't really knooooooooow

JeanSeberg · 26/01/2014 18:51

Love it. Grin

BadgersNadgers · 26/01/2014 21:47

Maybe Les Dennis will be Deidre's new love interest - stranger things have happened in Corrie.

Cherrypie32 · 26/01/2014 22:48

Couldn't agree more. The excellent acting of Roy's character and the poignancy of Hayley's death has been totally overshadowed by irritating hangers on. If they knew Roy at all I'm sure they'd know he wouldn't want to be cuddled, Molly coddled and forced to talk all the time.

MargotLovedTom · 26/01/2014 23:00

I'm just waiting for Roy to lose it completely and start charging at everyone with a catering size tin of baked beans if they don't back off a bit.

Grin Strawdolly. Who did Dustin Gee used to impersonate - was it Bet?
Les Dennis gives me the willies so I hope he's not in for long. Surely playing a burglar will be a short lived role anyway, unless he's to be ensconsed as the friendly neighbourhood robber, working his way down the street at the rate of a house a week?!
