OP posts:

I thought Rasmus was Danish. Ithought he and Pernille came from 'shippenhaguen'

Strawdolly · 03/02/2014 15:58

I thought the man who shot Gertrude looked taller than Rasmus anyway.

WipsGlitter · 03/02/2014 15:59

I think what killed Jens was some sort of morphine based drug that Viktoria was using. They took it from her house I thought?

MrsFlorrick · 03/02/2014 16:20

Liz. No. Permille Danish. Rasmus Swedish.

flatmum · 03/02/2014 17:14

I thought the guy who kille Gertrude looked like Sagas boss, who was behaving very shiftily this season I thought. But are we saying it couldn't have been home because he spoke to her in Danish and he is Swedish isn't he? But doesn't he have a Danish wife? And couldn't a swede speak Danish and vice versa.

I am English but speak enough French to say you failed, you're finished and shoot someone?

LizLemongrass · 03/02/2014 17:17

yes true, it'd be absolutely no bother at all to me to do an English accent convincingly. (lived there for a decade)

LizLemongrass · 03/02/2014 17:18

So, Salamander........... anybody heard anything about this show. Will it fill the gap?

saganoren · 03/02/2014 17:28

Surely the guy who shot Gertrude was the security guard (forget his name). He's Danish.

SoulJacker · 03/02/2014 17:36

I think it's very hard for Swedish people to speak Danish convincingly. Weirdly the Danish OH can always pick out Swedish people speaking English but not the Danes, who often have very convincing UK regional accents.

Generally Swedish people don't speak Danish, and Danes don't speak Swedish. A Swede, a Dane and a Norwegian can all hold a conversation together but they'll all be speaking their own language.

MrsFlorrick · 03/02/2014 17:57

Flat mum. Yes. It could. I'm Danish but my Swedish fluent with a Stockholm accent.

That said the man shot Gertrude had the same Jylland regional accent as her. In fact it was more pronounced than hers.

Rasmus could be a fake swede. But I'm not buying that.

I think Gertrude has a brother.

It's not the security guard as he was bald. The man who shot her had hair. And yes it could be a wig but its all getting far fetched.

I think Rasmus will be the one to solve the case. Grin

Ubik1 · 03/02/2014 18:22

So was it Marcus Sternberg then

MrsFlorrick · 03/02/2014 18:24

Ubik. No he is Swedish with a Skaane accent. The man who shot Grttrude had a heavy Jylland (Danish West Country) accent.

Hmmm. Who ever he is he obviously helped Gertrude dispose of those bodies in the lye drums.

DonkeysDontRideBicycles · 03/02/2014 18:30

yes it could be a wig but its all getting far fetched.

I know what you mean Grin

SoulJacker · 03/02/2014 18:44

After watching Borgen I wouldn't read too much into the accents. Katrine and her brother had totally different accents.

themessyapron · 03/02/2014 19:28

The writer has said they haven't decided who he is! So it's currently a character that doesn't exist is my understanding

themessyapron · 03/02/2014 19:28

Or they could decide it is a character we know at a later date

CurrerBell · 03/02/2014 20:23

Talking of wigs, someone on the live chat asked about 'wiggy' woman in Series 1 (the woman Martin slept with) - they asked whether wigs are seen as sexually alluring in Scandinavia, or something! It was a great question but I didn't see if the writer answered or not...

I didn't notice anyone asking him about Claudio's 'manhood' - the significance of its size was never cleared up, was it?!

MajesticWhine · 03/02/2014 21:53

Finally caught up and finished the series. A bit gutted about Martin's arrest, and generally gutted that it's over. We have the Killing box set - is that a good substitute?

LauraPashley · 03/02/2014 22:53

It's a BRILLIANT alternative!! Enjoy!

LizLemongrass · 04/02/2014 00:30

I watched killingvin english. Is it a different story. Or did the americabs just take the format & mood

TheDoctrineOfSnatch · 04/02/2014 00:30

I thought slightly scary pathologist would end up a baddie!

mrsjavierbardem · 04/02/2014 06:40

Yes the pathologist could be used in series 3 for a baddie.

I can't believe Jakob is gone forever with his broken heart and his accepting love for Saga echoing the audience's.

Rasmus supporters: I reject your position, how can you even think of standing by him?

Big boss, that's an awful thought . But didn't Lund's boss in the killing end up Superbad in other nordicana?

What did Martin supposedly use to kill Jens? Surely Martin wouldn't risk the prison staff getting ill?

The whole Pernille/Viktoria death scene has stayed with me - amazing drama.

Bunbaker · 04/02/2014 07:08

"I'm surprised at how many people cannot hear the difference between Danish and Swedish. Admittedly I have the advantage of hearing Danish spoken a fair bit but I've always thought they sound different."

Unless you are familiar with any of the languages it is difficult. I can identify many languages but I can't tell the difference between Swedish and Danish, and couldn't tell which country they were in during the series.

flatmum · 04/02/2014 08:49

So when Martin and Saga speak are you saying he speaks in Danish and she speaks in Swedish!!

TheDoctrineOfSnatch · 04/02/2014 08:59

Yes, I think that's the case all the way through.

I did think the pathologist would be either a shadowy baddie or catch the virus off the bodies and start coughing blood over Saga.
