Read hitchhikers rather then watch and do watch dwarf but only up to season 7... We don't like to admit they went on after that!

SparklyNewNameChange · 27/11/2013 18:02

Has anyone mentioned The Doctor's Daughter yet, from the dna sequencing episode? She regenerated and is still floating around in space on a ship somwehere. That's never been tidied up. Could she be a source of an extra regeneration?

TheDoctrineOfWho · 27/11/2013 18:09

Douglas Adams hit a deadline somebody else missed?!

AnAdventureInCakeAndWine · 27/11/2013 18:21

"People say I hate deadlines, but they're wrong. I love deadlines; I enjoy the sound they make as they whizz past." -- Douglas Adams (more-or-less, as I'm paraphrasing from memory rather than looking up the actual quote)

FrankelInFoal · 27/11/2013 18:31

HG2TG is my favourite book Grin I've been through several copies as I just wear them out Grin. My dad introduced me to the radio show in the early 90s and I've been hooked ever since. We went to Douglas Adam's 50th Birthday celebration last year, as well as the HG2TG tour.

42 Wink

aww. thank you Anadventure. will watch now! Thanks
sparkly yy the doctors daughter (well, his wife now Grin) and the other 10 made out of 10's hand.

maybe cbbc should do a 'sarah jane adventures' thing with Georgia moffat/davison/tenant!

60th birthday, I imagine, Frankel, as he was born the same year I was. I caught the first episode of HHGTTG (apols Zygon should have put it in full first time), having noticed it in the Radio Times. It was repeated later the same week, and thanks to OH's posh stereo system I taped it and the rest of the series.

We then spent many happy months introducing unsuspecting friends to its delights.

fancyanotherfez · 27/11/2013 18:44

It took me a while to recognise Georgia Moffet from the Fiveish Doctors- but maybe that's because she was massively pregnant. I don't know if she would be willing to go back and play the part again. They would have to get another actress and explain the difference. I think regeneration would be too similar to the River story now.

FrankelInFoal · 27/11/2013 18:46

Doh! Of course I meant 60th Blush

SparklyNewNameChange · 27/11/2013 18:49

Well one thing's for sure - the BBC are not going to let a super successful and profitable franchise like this end after thirteen doctors/regenerations. They'll find a way to extend it indefinitely.

LetZygonsbeZygons · 27/11/2013 18:54

Sontaran that's okay Grin. im not up on every single sci-fi thing.
Im Dr WHo, star wars, trek, stargate and anything they add!

hope you're right sparkly.

fancyanotherfez · 27/11/2013 20:35

Matt Smith was asked about it on one of the anniversary programmes and he said that the BBC could either let a hugely successful franchise die or come up with a solution. I think somehow if they could resurrect the Timelords in a pocket universe, there are a million ways they could get round the regeneration limit.

cornflakegirl · 27/11/2013 23:24

Zygons - be ashamed of yourself for lumping Hitchhiker in with "every single sci-fi thing"! Be ashamed, and wash your mouth out with soap and water. And put on sackcloth and ashes. And then read it. Immediately. It's a work of genius.

TheSontaranPussycat · 28/11/2013 00:00

Have a heart, cornflake! I thought Buffy was some trashy fighty vampire thing for kids - until I actually watched one properly and saw Spike

Re: the regeneration thing - in one of the earliest regenerations we saw (maybe even the first?) there was a sort of flashback of previous regenerations, implying the Dr had been eg Leonardo da Vinci (am working from (v old) memory here), and mentioning 13 as the limit (I think). So we must have already passed the limit if my memory proves accurate. I assume this was quietly dropped from Whovian lore, and reset so WH was One.

cornflakegirl · 28/11/2013 00:05

You're right, I was overly harsh. I too was older than I should have been before I watched Buffy. There is no shame in ignorance. As long as that ignorance is remedied at the earliest opportunity Wink

Davros · 28/11/2013 07:49

I lived the 5-ish Doctors

Davros · 28/11/2013 07:50

Loved!

FrankelInFoal · 28/11/2013 07:53

Did anyone watch last week's Graham Norton with DT and MS? Not a fan of DT's hair extensions, and the MS lookalike was amazing!

SoupDragon · 28/11/2013 08:59

I watched it on iPlayer! That MS guy was incredible - especially as they didn't introduce him as a lookalike, I think that made it more startling.

What is DT filming that means he needs the fake hair?

Non Dr Who related, but I thought Emma Thompson was fabulous.

FrankelInFoal · 28/11/2013 10:11

Emma Thompson is always good value, and Jimmy Carr is my "Crush of Shame" Blush

DT is doing a Shakespeare play on stage at the moment. I want to say Richard II, but I might be wrong.

FrankelInFoal · 28/11/2013 10:13

I was right Grin

SoupDragon · 28/11/2013 10:27

:)

PaulMcGannsMistress · 28/11/2013 12:36

The fans had the last laugh, I thought - 'I'm married to the Dalek' Grin

SoupDragon · 28/11/2013 12:58

LOL - yes :o

LetZygonsbeZygons · 28/11/2013 17:26
