Accidentally filled up the last thread without realising.

Have the day off today so can sit and watch the tennis scores update.

We still have Tennis Tennis too.

OP posts:

elses's Hmm

JuanPotatoTwo · 03/10/2013 14:31

Raonic (boo, hiss), Almagro and Nishikori through. Lopez out.

Well done Rafa and Djok. Djok has things other than tennis on his mind - he's wondering if he should wear a green and purple tie and waistcoat to match our wedding outfits!

The Cilic thing - his mum bought them and Cilic scanned the ingredients list through to his coach apparently.

Clay - don't be reading anything on here tonight until you've had your dinner!

JuanPotatoTwo · 03/10/2013 14:37

What is your best guess re tomorrow's scheduling? There are three matches on before Pot plays, the first of which starts at 11am Tokyo time (3am here). Bearing in mind they're three setters, what do you think would be the approximate time of Pot's match kicking off? I might try to watch it if the timing is good.

By the way, read a bit more of the Agassi book last night - Blimey, his Dad wasn't half hard on him!

Raahh · 03/10/2013 15:07

I still haven't got over the revelation ( think it was during the French open) that ferrer's coach use to lock him in a cupboard!Grin[Shock

Not sure about the schedule. I can't seem to time it right at all.
And - just in time for the school run - it is absolutely tipping it down here. But really warmConfused

JuanPotatoTwo · 03/10/2013 17:02

It's always tipping it down for the school run, it's the law you know.

ClayDavis · 03/10/2013 17:53

I think you've got the weather we had this morning, Raahh. The road was pretty much turned into a river and I was soaked by the time the bus arrived. So I've now done fire and flood. The world is ending isn't it?

Dinner tonight is going in the oven. If it's in the oven I will remember that it needs taking out and won't just turn off.

ClayDavis · 03/10/2013 22:28

Not sure about the schedule. I would think somewhere between about 7.30 and 9. I'm not sure that narrows it down much for you though.

Raahh · 03/10/2013 22:53

Grin @ the world ending.

I'm building an Ark.

ClayDavis · 03/10/2013 23:12

Seriously Raahh, there's only famine and pestilence left. Although if I can't clear the revolting smell of smoke and burnt plastic from the flat and the rest of the building I'll take the end of the world. Google seems to think white vinegar and bicarb will do the trick. I'm not convinced.

Raahh · 04/10/2013 09:52

Clay white vinegar and bicarb sounds very Kim and Aggie- they seemed to use it for everything[grin

Nadl through to the semi's in Beijing, Dogsbollocks is serving for the set against Potato- c'mon Potato!

Vamos

Tennis
ClayDavis · 04/10/2013 10:19

Oh no Dogsbollocks has taken the first set. Vamos Del Potato.

I'm not sure the vinegar helped. After leaving bowls of vinegar out overnight it now smells of burnt with a slight undertone of vinegar. I'm not sure the liberal sprinkling of bicarb on the carpets has done anything.

JuanPotatoTwo · 04/10/2013 11:21

Yay, just watched Potato win, had me worried for a bit there. The crowd are very quiet and so many empty seats, wish we could get to Tokyo!

If Pot and Raonic both win tomorrow, they could face each other in the final - that could prove interesting!

JuanPotatoTwo · 04/10/2013 11:23

Clay, what about good old Febreeze?

ClayDavis · 04/10/2013 11:24

Del Potato has won. That brings him within 5 points of Berdych in the rankings.

If I'm reading the live rankings right, if Rafa wins his semi final in Beijing then he's guaranteed the official number 1 spot on Monday because Djok can't than overtake him on points even if he wins the tournament.

ClayDavis · 04/10/2013 11:32

It's been Febreezed to within an inch of its life. It's fine for a while but then starts to break through again. I think it is getting better though. I may have to do a very thorough spring clean over the weekend and do the walls and shampoo the carpets. It's possible the vinegar is actually helping.

Raahh · 04/10/2013 12:52

Sad Ferrer lost.

Tennis
JuanPotatoTwo · 04/10/2013 14:00

:( for Ferrer. You have to admire his "hang on in there and give it my best shot" attitude.

Clay What about adding few drops of tea tree oil or orange/lemon oil to the water when wiping stuff down?

ClayDavis · 04/10/2013 17:33

Sad for Ferrer. Just come in from work. Surprisingly the vinegar is actually working. Definitely smells more of vinegar than it does of burning now.

Lessons have been learnt - 1) don't set fire to the microwave, 2) its a bloody stupid idea to have a smoke detector on the other side of a fire door to things that are actually likely to catch fire. Whichever member of the fire service suggested that needs their head checking. 3) white vinegar is surprisingly useful.

SadBadMadFat · 04/10/2013 18:21

theyre saying if rafa gets to final hell be number one again. what about if Djoko gets there too and wins? doesn't he retain his number 1 status?

Im getting interested in the andre story now! keep us updated!

ClayDavis · 04/10/2013 18:36

If the ATP live rankings is right (which it usually is) and I understand it correctly:

If Rafa wins his semi final he will have 11160 points. Even if Djok gets to the final and wins the tournament he can only get a maximum of 11120 points. The only way Djok can retain the number 1 spot is if Rafa loses the semi final and Djok wins the final. If Rafa loses his semi and Djok gets into the final but loses I think Rafa still ends up as number 1.

SadBadMadFat · 04/10/2013 19:03

thanx. confusing though Grin.

does anyone think Andy will go to the O2 or concentrate for th e Ausse open?

ClayDavis · 04/10/2013 19:25

This is the link to the live rankings. It might make more sense then.

Have no idea about Andy. I suppose it depends on how well his recovery is going.

SadBadMadFat · 04/10/2013 19:38

no your explanation wasn't confusing, the ranking points system is!

JuanPotatoTwo · 05/10/2013 11:24

Pot and Raonic in the final!

I think Andy should give O2 a miss, back surgery's surely got to take some time to recover properly from?

Finished Agassi's book, it was a really good read! The drugs thing - he had a friend from school who he employed as a sort of PA, and it was this guy who gave it to him. He took it a few times, willingly and knowingly but when one of his urine test came back positive he wrote a letter of appeal, saying that this guy must have spiked his soft drinks. The ATP believed him and that was the end of that!

Raahh · 05/10/2013 11:32

Hopefully Pot can get revenge for Raonic's cheating antics. I'd be very wary of him, if I was Juan!Grin

I want to read the Agassi book nowGrin it was one I didn't bother with when it was released - some sporting autobiographies are a bit crap. I did love Brad Gilbert's 'Winning Ugly' though- in fact it's one that Dh has read to get tips on training his softball team.

Has Berdych retired fromhis match? The scoreline on the ATP site suggests the match is over, although it's 4-2 Rafa in the first setConfused ?
