Accidentally filled up the last thread without realising.

Have the day off today so can sit and watch the tennis scores update.

We still have Tennis Tennis too.

Pot through against Bagdhatis.

How long is ds going away for Raahh? And, yes, he will be fine, fab opportunity for him.

Raahh · 01/10/2013 10:44

Just managing to sit down.

Yay! PotaTo!

Juan- he's going for 9 days. Which seems a bit long. They are staying for the most part at a school and also 2 days in Shanghai.

A group of us who have dcs going were all saying this morning that whilst the kids are very excited, we are all just wishing it was overGrinI'm also very conscious of making sure dd1 doesn't feel left out, since she will be at school whilst he's away. Plus the likelihood of a family holiday any time in the next few years in nil (unless we win the lotteryGrin).

Nadal looking safe against Giraldo. Vamos Grin

Raahh · 01/10/2013 12:57

Aww, Djoko and Stan are playing doubles together.

That's niceGrin

ClayDavis · 01/10/2013 19:12

ATP live rankings now has Nadal as number 1 and Djok as number 2. Grin

JuanPotatoTwo · 02/10/2013 07:47

Pot through second round against Berlocq in two sets :)

Horrible damp morning here, hope it's better where you are.

Raahh · 02/10/2013 09:53

yay! Potato!

Hewitt out though, Nadal playing later I think? I think that's today's scheduleGrin

miserable and wet here too. And my boots have sprung a leakGrin

JuanPotatoTwo · 02/10/2013 12:36

Tsonga out to Dodig. Rafa winning.

Raahh · 02/10/2013 12:56

ohSad poor Tsonga.

Vamos Rafa2!

JuanPotatoTwo · 02/10/2013 14:01

So Pot playing Dogsbollocksoff next! Unfortunately, Raonic also through! Wish we could watch some of these matches.

Raahh, if you're boots are leaking the only answer is new boots!

SadBadMadFat · 02/10/2013 17:20

Nalbandian has just announced his retirement.

shame his last well known match was THAT one at Queens.

ClayDavis · 02/10/2013 18:11

Just seen that on the BBC site, sad.

Glad Rafa's won. Hopefully Ferrer will win tomorrow too.

JuanPotatoTwo · 02/10/2013 19:08

Yes, i heard that too, i expect he will forever be remembered as the man who injured a linesman (Not condoning his behaviour at all - it was pretty disgraceful - but i couldnt help thinking at the time that the linesman did milk it a bit).

I wandered into a branch of Age Concern this morning to look at the books. There was a copy of Andre Agassi's autobiography there. Never been an Agassi fan but the book was only £1.50 so I bought it. I've only read the first 30 pages so far but it's actually really good!

SadBadMadFat · 02/10/2013 19:16

Agassi admits to drugs doesn't he In that book? and during his stay at the top too?

If that's true then why wasn't he stripped of his titles like Lance armstorng was?

and yy agree linesman milked it.

JuanPotatoTwo · 02/10/2013 19:38

Oh does he Sad? Haven't got that far yet, but he does go on in first chapter about the excruciating pain he was in cos of his back.

SadBadMadFat · 02/10/2013 19:41

haven't actually read the book but I vaguely remember an interview when the book came out and he mentioned something.

let us know when/if you get to that bit!

ClayDavis · 02/10/2013 19:53

A quick google seems to show it was crystal meth he admitted to using in his autobiography. news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/tennis/8329193.stm

I think we discussed drugs a bit on the last thread. I don't think tennis has quite got to the stage that cycling had in 2004ish where they realise they have to clean up the sport because its becoming a bit of a joke. The ATP are still burying their heads in the sand a bit wrt drugs and aren't really that interested in trying to get to the bottom of the problem yet.

SadBadMadFat · 02/10/2013 19:57

but clay what about now with Cilic and Troiki

what about those in the past the? including Hingis too.

and wasn't Greg Rusetski in trouble once for that?

ClayDavis · 02/10/2013 20:13

They are starting to do something. I think the drug testing regime has been tightened up in the last year, hence Cilic and Troiki. It just hasn't reached the stage of a major clear up.

I do think they will get there. How much of a problem there is and how widespread it is remains to be seen. It might be that it is quite isolated. I think that at the point the autobiography was released there was less of a will to poke around and see what was happening.

ClayDavis · 02/10/2013 20:48

Balls. Got to addicted to the drugs in tennis story. Forgot about dinner. Any tips for clearing smoke quickly?

JuanPotatoTwo · 02/10/2013 20:56

Open the windows? Or better yet, call the fire brigade?!

Was reading up a bit on the Cilic drug thing -apparently, he sent his mum out to buy the supplements! Seems like me and Mrs Cilic get blamed by our ds's for everything that goes wrong!

ClayDavis · 02/10/2013 21:05

Windows all open, fire brigade not needed fortunately. No fire just very smokey and highly over sensitive alarm system. As its connected to all 7 flats in the building I'm very popular this evening. At least I know it works some one usually sets it off about once a week and it hasn't gone off all summer.

I thought I'd read it was his coach he sent out for the supplements. His mum would make more sense. I still think you'd read the ingredients though.

ClayDavis · 02/10/2013 22:12

Smoke is gone. Alarm is reset. My poor clean laundry though. Sad. I'm going to go to work smelling like a BBQ tomorrow.

Raahh · 03/10/2013 09:44

Nadal through, Djoko given a bit of a scare in the second set of his match, but seemingly back on track in the third.

Clay- hope your clothes aired a bit!Grin

i hate it when I burn toast which i do often , it really is a smell that lingers. Not a bad smell, but once you've eaten the charred remains, you don't want reminding you should have checked the toaster settingsGrin

(I like crumpets very well done, an then forget to change the dial when doing dd1's toast. Nearly very dayGrin).

Raahh · 03/10/2013 09:53

and Stan is outSad

Tennis
ClayDavis · 03/10/2013 11:11

It was my own fault. I thought I'd managed to fix the dodgy timer on the microwave. Apparently not. If it had just turned off after 10 mins it would have been OK. I should have just put it in the oven instead I would have been thinking about it then.

The downside to all the internal doors being fire doors is that you can fill the kitchen with smoke and not realise it. I think I need to air out the flat before I air out the clothes.

Poor Stan.

Hope everybody elses's weather is better than here It's dark and monsson like at the moment.
