Good luck tomorrow, Juan.

Cilic has been suspended for 9 months but they're backdating it so he should be back on 1st Feb, according to the BBC.

Thank you both. I'm a rubbish mother too Raahh (not that I'm agreeing with you that you are). I went to pick ds3 up last week at 5.20, only to discover he had actually finished at 4.20. Don't know why they didn't ring me though.

Shame about Cilic. I believe him - or am I just being woefully gullible?

Raahh · 16/09/2013 19:31

Juan Grin - I've done the picking up an hour late thing. They never ring, he just finds something to do!

I don't get the banned substances thing. And I am probably a bit naive, too- I mean, it was a glucose supplement, not steroids. How much of a benefit would it actually be? I believe him, too, I think. Seems an odd thing to risk your career over.

ClayDavis · 16/09/2013 19:51

It was a glucose supplement containing a banned stimulant, I think. I'm pretty sure it wasn't the glucose part that was the problem.

I want to believe him but this seems to happen so often in sports I can't believe any sports player would go to the pharmacy, pick up a supplement and not check the ingredients in case it contained something that was banned.

I know Clay- I know nothing about drugs, and it does seem daft not to check.

I'm making the most of them before they get spottedGrin

There appears to be fireworks going off somewhere near me.

Weird.

I don't know much about them either except some legal bits and bobs. I'd be surprised if the list of ingredients wasn't listed on the pack somewhere. Wikipedia describe it being available over the counter with glucose in the form of lozenges. That doesn't really sound like glucose supplements that happen to have nikethamide in it.

I've just been on for the millionth time Potato's FB page. I'm not 100 per cent sure, because google translate is absolutely awful, but it seems that a lot of people are slagging him off. In a weird kind of way I hope they are - cos then my post in hot defence of him won't have been all in vain!

Raahh · 16/09/2013 22:05

Grin Juan

I have that problem with the Rafa page- the translation is appalling.

Go Del Potato! He's lovely!!

Report
ClayDavis · 16/09/2013 22:08

Google translate is dire.

You've won me over with Del Potato. I wasn't that much of a fan until the first Wimbledon thread.

Raahh · 16/09/2013 22:20

Clay - I'll admit, he wasn't one I watched often either, but he was so brilliant at Wimbledon. Of course, he hasn't played Nadal this year, so I haven't hadto pick sidesGrin- I'm even glad he beat Ferrer (who I like a lot) because the DelPo/Djoko semi final was amazing.

In fact, I should thank Djoko really, for two of the best semi-finals this year -RG/WimbledonGrin

ClayDavis · 16/09/2013 22:31

I can't see myself ever warming to Djoko. I don't dislike him either. I just feel a bit meh about him.

Report
JuanPotatoTwo · 16/09/2013 22:37

Oh I'm glad I've helped to win him some fans! I may need some fans of my own - I've just done another long post on FB, and I don't really know what it is people are actually saying about him, just can pick out the odd word! Are there any other translation tools? Ones that actually work maybe?

I like Rafa, Ferrer and Djok - easy to please me!

JuanPotatoTwo · 16/09/2013 22:39

Clay, have you watched any Djok YouTube vids where he's clowning around? He does actually seem like a nice funny likeable bloke. (I'm sure you've got oodles of spare time to waste watching vids of tennis players you're not too bothered about right?!)

Plenty, Juan. One of the few advantages of having to slash my work hours due to depression/CFS. Grin My psychologist would like me to fill some of them. I've decided that MN and tennis are much better.

Tsonga's p laying tomorrow. Schedule says not before 18:00. I think that would be 17:00 UK time

Report
JuanPotatoTwo · 18/09/2013 16:18

I think your psychologist would positively endorse your watching tennis and tennis vids Clay - what could be better for a body than ogling watching healthy young people playing nice competitive sport?! Pardon my ignorance but what is CFS? And hope you're ok.

So, as predicted, there were tears yesterday. They caught me by surprise actually, we'd had a nice day together and, as I was saying goodbye I was just overcome:(. Hated leaving him there in his grim student house with its junk shop furniture and grubby multi-patterned carpets. Oh wait, that's our house .....

Raahh · 18/09/2013 17:30

Aww, hope you are ok, Juan

I remember the first time my parents dropped me off- my room was bare breeze block, with a broken lamp, and a dodgy partition wall (through which, dear neighbour, I could hear far more than just you cleaning your teethWinkShock). The key didn't work.

It was made worse by the fact, they didn't speak all the way to deepest Wales, from South Manchester, as my mother was in the process of moving out that weekend, as she'd been having an affair. I wasn't supposed to knowHmm.

It was a great start to my student careerGrin.

Tsonga is playing now-allez!

Report
ClayDavis · 18/09/2013 19:03

I can see how that might not have been the best start to your student career, Raahh.

Sorry, Juan, CFS is chronic fatigue syndrome. I'm so used to being on other forums, I forgot that not everybody would know what it was. Am doing much better at the moment, so it's all good. Might even think about starting running again soon.

Tsonga has won. Tennis

No Tsonga today. Robson is playing though. Hope she can do well.

C'mon Laura!

I feel a bit flat after all the excitement of watching the scores update the US open.

Looking forward to Beijing and Shanghai.
