Federer has withdrawn from montreal citing a back injury-rare for him.

Never in doubt really who was going to win that one, Rafa looked formidable.

Morning all. I'm sure it's of little interest but I feel compelled to share my dream with you - I had a frozen chicken as a pet that I carried everywhere, much in the manner of a child carrying a teddy everywhere. It had its own bed and everything. I'm a bit puzzled as to why it didn't defrost but it remained resolutely frozen throughout.

We've just been swimming, a slightly more reasonable time than last week, which was good as dd2 hardly slept stall< yawn>

Can't believe it's nearly over again- I'm confident the year end tournament will be on proper telly( mind you, I thought that about the US). Lots of movement in the latter half of the top ten, so will be interesting to see who qualifies. It will be very significant I think if Fed doesn't qualify.

Some good tournaments coming up though, and nadal has an excellent masters 1000 record this year, so vamos !

Is there a lobby group anywhere to get the US open on non pay TV or at least streamed on the Web somewhere I'd be prepared to pay.

Star I've paid for a sky 24 hour pass for matches I've especially wanted to watch. It's not ideal but it was the only way I found to actually watch any tennis. You can watch it on an Ipad, iPhone, computer or through an Xbox.

Raahh, I'm so impressed that you went swimming after no sleep, I couldn't do it.

Juan- it wasn't too bad, except the kids pool is so warm, it made me sleepy. But it was freeeeeezing when we got out. I then came ahome and slept for and hour or two.

I now have 2 children in tears over homework. It drives me nuts. They are both brilliant at school, apparently- so why do I just get tears and tantrums and 'I can't do it' at home? .

Dh has said something about a mini-pass. Can you do it without being a regular sky customer?

12th, yes the Rafa match was a bit of a damp squib. Thought Gasquet might have bagged the second set but when he didn't, it didn't take Rafa long to finish it off.

Juan- it is funny, I've seen it before (on the Rafa facebook page.). It's very funny. Mind you, although I'm no fan of Djokovic, some of his impersonations are funny too (though over the years, some of his 'victims' have been less than flattered).

The longest US final, in time,rather than number of games was and a half hours. It was Edberg/Chang- I probably 'watched' the result on ceefax.

Not sure what the shortest one is, though.

noddy there aren't many sites - you can pay for a one-off sky subscription, I think (think Juan linked up-thread), but I've not seen any free sites that are legal

I will probably end up watching the scores update on the US open website
