Oh I don't know Raahh, I think it's a perfectly valid excuse! How old are your dc? Seems a not very friendly ploy to have free swimming early on a Sunday morning and I'm very impressed you made it - lots of brownie points for you!

These hols for us have flown by, it seems two minutes ago we were in those last days of term, and here we are about to go back again already.

My eldest ds left to go to uni last Sept and Dd just did her A levels in the summer but has deferred going to uni until Sept 2014. I missed my eldest dreadfully and will do again when he goes back, but when dd leaves it will be like losing my best friend (she is the only dd). Having my two eldest leaving home makes me feel both old and sad! Gosh, I really am in a melancholy mood, apologies folks!

I was trying to find out where Potato might play next but didn't get anywhere. Any of you know? I also spent far more time than I should have last night on the Men's Tennis Forums, dh says he's in danger of forgetting what I sound like (although I would have thought that would be a blessing for him!)

ClayDavis · 01/09/2013 18:23

The first tournament I can find del Potato listed as a player for is the Shanghai Masters on 6th October. Not sure if he's playing as part of Argentina's Davis Cup team on 13th September. I don't think the team selection list for that is out yet.

FarleyD · 01/09/2013 18:38

Thanks Clay, where did you find that out?

Raahh · 01/09/2013 18:45

Farley -they are 10.5, 7 and nearly 3. The leisure centre does free swimming in the summer hols- to be fair, I would have gone later, but dh was working at 12, so we all had to go early (can't take all 3 on myown). I felt quite virtuous for 5 minutes.

I can't imagine them ever leaving home (well i imagine it a lot, but it's a long time offGrin).

Marcus is plotting a comeback!

I like hewitt, but it should have been Del Potato. Sad

ClayDavis · 01/09/2013 18:55

I used the calendar on the ATP site, then had to go to each tournament website to see which players were listed. There must be an easier way to do it.

FarleyD · 01/09/2013 19:33

Thanks again Clay, does seem there should be an easier way. Unlike you, I didn't have the initiative to think of checking tournament websites!

Raahh, at the risk of sounding like one of your mother's boring friends (not that she has any I'm sure, but you know what I mean), the time really does come upon you quickly, esp once they hit their teens. My youngest is 9, and he is the spitting image in all respects of my eldest, who will be 20 in a couple of weeks, and seeing the 9yr old do/say things which the 20yr old did seemingly only yesterday reinforces to me how quickly the time went. I hope that last sentence wasn't a load of old [balls], and you kind of understood what I was trying to say!

FarleyD · 01/09/2013 19:34

Oops, so carried away there I got my Tennis wrong!

Raahh · 01/09/2013 19:40

Farley- its true. when people talk about university, memories flood back- and then I realise I graduated 20 years agoSad.

My mum was the age I am now, when I was half way through uni- so it's odd, me having such young kids. The time will flySad

Wawrinka won through- Murray taken to a tie break in his first set.

FarleyD · 01/09/2013 19:46

Lleyton is two games to love up in the first set. Hmmph.

Chubfuddler · 01/09/2013 20:37

Murray about to win in straight sets

FarleyD · 01/09/2013 20:42

Andy seems to be speeding through ok.

Chubfuddler · 01/09/2013 20:42

Oh no andy now seems to be starting to throw the third away

FarleyD · 01/09/2013 20:42

Oh sorrybChub, didn't refresh before posting.

Chubfuddler · 01/09/2013 20:43

No he's sorting himself out now. M

One game to go.

Chubfuddler · 01/09/2013 20:49

Excellent.

Ooh sloane Stephens and serena next. Please can they both lose?

Chubfuddler · 01/09/2013 21:08

Ooh Hewitt come on you can do this.

Chubfuddler · 01/09/2013 21:17

YES Hewitt wins 2nd set

FarleyD · 01/09/2013 21:32

Blush. I've just been caught out. Ds2 plonked himself down next to me before i could angle my screen away and said "why are you looking at pictures of Del Potro?". Dh gave me the look.

I don't like Hewitt, (never have, not just cos of what he did on Friday, honest) but you've got to hand it to him. He fights to the very end, and he's having a great run after all his injuries. He's also interesting to watch I suppose .

Chubfuddler · 01/09/2013 21:39

I think I am a mn tennis anomaly. Murray and Hewitt are my favourite players.

GlaikitFizzog · 01/09/2013 21:41

Not that much of an anomaly chub! I like them too!

FarleyD · 01/09/2013 21:50

Good for us to share the love, no fighting then!

Raahh · 01/09/2013 21:57

i like Hewitt's fighting spirit, and always wonder how he'd have done, had Federer not come along just as he was getting in his stride. And been injury free, of course.

But I've never been a Murray fan, and no amount of BBC pr will sway meGrin

Chubfuddler · 01/09/2013 22:05

Federer's extraordinary talent has truncated many a career - hewitt's more than anyone's I think. 20 years old and works number one. He was brilliant. I saw him at queens many years ago and the fight in him was amazing to watch.

Raahh · 01/09/2013 22:13

I have never warmed to Federer, I think his gold initialed kit puts me off. I should like him, as he cites Edberg as his inspirationGrin But I love him for the fantastic matches his rivalry with Nadal has produced. He deserves to go out out on a high- I hate to see great players fade.

Chubfuddler · 01/09/2013 22:16

I can't stand him but this week when I read about his comments that his recent dip have made him realise he doesn't just love winning, but really loves tennis I did think aw, maybe he's ok. Because I've never got a love of the game vibe from him. Love of winning and looking the diaper gent while doing it, definitely.
