Is there a general Emmerdale thread?

I've found a couple of threads about particular characters but was wondering if there was one just for general observations and if we could have a hands up to see if anyone else cried at Brenda's hair thing. I thought all those tears and smiles looked real

Do I need to get a life? Blush

Totally agreeqazxc. Everyone apart from Eric and now Andy (apart from his snotty attitude to Joanie's rules) are totally colluding with Amy. Really feel for Joanie.

lovelychops · 09/10/2013 18:48

I don't think it's looking good for Kerry and Dan as she was (understandably) weird about Andy and Amy.

Where's Declan? Has katie gone for good?

I'm still feeling a bit sick about 'hunter'!

YoureBeingADick · 09/10/2013 19:38

The story with ruby/her girflriend/ dan has pissed me off. They said they couldnt afford the £2k for a sperm donor before dan offered- how do they intend to afford a child if they cant save up the £2k to get the child.

qazxc · 09/10/2013 20:10

well i personally think that it's not the fact that Kerry was a bit Shock at her ex boyfriend and her daughter were getting it on that is the problem with Kerry and Dan. More serious is the fact that he is planning to father children with another woman without even mentioning it to his partner. After all it wouldn't be a sperm donor arrangement as he would be involved in the child's life.

Ellenora5 · 10/10/2013 12:44

It's a ridiculous storyline I think, I also think it would lead to Ruby and Ali splitting up, which wouldn't be a bad thing but I bet it would be Ruby that leaves the show and not the tiresome Ali, Ruby is not being used at all to her full potential, she is a great actress and her storylines are mainly non existent, up till now her main parts have been getting Sean out of trouble.

I'm am at a loss as to what to say about Amy, Kyle and Joanie, it's getting beyond daft now, I know nothing about how adoption works but would the birth mother be really allowed approach social services and they would agree to a meeting with her, maybe they would like I said I know nothing about it but it makes me wonder if someone was watching and thought that maybe they could do that and try and get their child back.

Or maybe I'm just overthinking things and need to remember it's pretend Confused

RaisingArizona · 10/10/2013 18:26

I know it's pretend but you'd suppose things would be researched such as adoption rules and regs. I also have no idea about that but thought it v odd too that SS suggested a meeting to discuss Amy's options. If Kyle was adopted by his late parents then surely that's that unless Joanie had put him back up for re-adoption due to the death of her daughter? It's not like the child has no remaining family. Seems v odd.

And the Ali Ruby Dan thing is also annoying. For once I'm with Kerry. It had the potential for absolute mayhem if Dan was the donor. And suddenly how can they afford to go back to plan A? And as yourbeingadick says, if they can't stump up 2K for that how the hell are they proposing to bring a child up? And childcare? That doesn't come cheap here. V irritating plot.

YoureBeingADick · 10/10/2013 20:05

Please dont tell me ruby is going to start taking money from the existing children to pay for a donor? Shock I cant believe she is viewing sean's school trip money as her baby money!

YoureBeingADick · 10/10/2013 20:20

Aww this crap their giving ruby is awful. Makes me want to throw thjngs at the tv.

qazxc · 10/10/2013 21:58

I'm guessing really hoping that "discussing the options" with SS isn't going to be the green light to Amy getting custody of Kyle that she and Val seem to think it is.
Depending on circumstances, birth parents can kept abreast of child's progress (through letters and pictures) and in some cases have meetings with the child through the appropriate agency. But I can't imagine them just handing the child back. Amy would have all of this and more, had she cooperated with Joanie.
In any case i wouldn't think that Amy is in the best place to have Kyle, her life is quite chaotic and she's in a very new relationship with her mother's ex boyfriend who has a record of domestic violence and arson.

YoureBeingADick · 10/10/2013 22:02

I agree qazc
I think i'll stop watching if they give her kyle back.

YoureBeingADick · 11/10/2013 19:26

Where is cain supposed to be?

Ellenora5 · 11/10/2013 20:20

Yes that's true qazc, I hope so anyway, I'd forgotten about Andy and the domestic violence, and seriously, your mothers left overs, no I don't think so....and he is horrible, what do they see in him.

YABD, Cain stayed on in France or wherever they went on holidays, Debbie said something about it last night, that he was doing a deal to help Moira get the farm back or something.

Now I don't want to upset any Cain lovers (mainly myself) but I have a feeling Cain is leaving emmerdale Sad

So the dreadful Cameron is back in the village, how convenient he looked straight at the camera, and of course there has to be a storm, it wouldn't be a good showdown without a storm.

YoureBeingADick · 11/10/2013 20:24

Nooo!! Why is cain leaving? Shock

HokeyCokeyPigInAPokey · 11/10/2013 20:26

No ellenora NO!

He cannot leave, says it's not so!!!

RaisingArizona · 11/10/2013 21:20

Oh lord if Cain leaves there'll hardly be anyone left in the village who isn't a total pain. He's about the only one who isn't seriously irritating me to pieces.

The storm made me snigger. Ominous indeedy.

Ellenora5 · 12/10/2013 13:01

Well it was a rumour I heard, fingers crossed it's wrong.

RaisingArizona it would be one dull village if he left, everyone else has been really irritating lately.

lovelychops · 12/10/2013 16:49

I loved the storm, so dramatic! Characters walking into the Woolpack with umbrellas ( just in case we hadn't worked out there was A STORM brewing ).

Ruby is a terrible actress. How predictable that she hadn't come out to her mum. Her character and that family have bought nothing to the show.

Another one hoping it won't be true about Cain. Pretty harsh on Moira if it is, everyone she's ever slept with ending up dead...

RaisingArizona · 12/10/2013 17:19

I think the entire family Ruby, Ali, Sean etc are all poor actors. And the stories they are all given are also poor. I agree, they've not added anything to the show at all.

The worst case scenario for me would be that Moira and Cain both leave. Once the farm goes then other than Adam being there, there's not a lot left there for Moira. And surely they can't let Moira lose another chap, as lovelychops says. So they could decide it was time for a change?! That would be grim.

NuggetofPurestGreen · 14/10/2013 19:29

This Cameron thing is really stressful. Poor little Sarah locked in that shed thing! I haven't seen any of ten spoilers for once either so don't know what's going to happen. Don't tell me!!

Olbasoil · 14/10/2013 19:48

I love Sarah, I hope she will be ok. Where exactly is Cain because I can't believe he would stay away if his family were in danger .

NuggetofPurestGreen · 14/10/2013 20:52

Didn't they say something about not being able to get through to him on the phone the other day? Hmm So I don't think he knows what's going on?

RaisingthedeadArizona · 15/10/2013 00:37

Poor Sarah. That child has been through a LOT of shit. No idea how she seems so well-balanced after all the fires, murders, life-threatening illness, her mother's history with violent blokes etc etc.

God, if Cain knew what was going on he'd be pushing Cameron out of a car perched somewhere very high and sheer again. Come ON Cain - this is NO time to be MIA.

RubberBullets · 15/10/2013 10:37

Cain stayed behind to do a special deal to get Moira money and they have tried calling him but he isn't answering. Am I alone in finding Sarah really annoying?

Olbasoil · 15/10/2013 17:48

Aww poor Sarah . Remember she does have very annoying parents! Cut her some slackGrin
